Oh, Debby.
Aug. 5th, 2024 02:34 pmFound a little extra money this morning before I went to bed so I did a Target pickup order for hurricane foods, not expecting them to actually have it ready before 10am but somewhere after 8am, I get a flurry of emails/alerts that it's ready to go. The plus side of the storm is that there were less people on the road than normal, so Mom and I hit the Family Dollar to see if they had my peanut butter (no) and her drink mixes (yes), went on to Target, and then stopped at the Pig for the PB and spaghetti sauce that Target didn't have. It wasn't really raining for most of the trip, although it would sprinkle a little off and on til we were nearly home and then it started coming down a little harder.
I was hoping to get a walk in to see how things look before but each time I go out (other than the last time but we'll get to that) the rain kicks in harder. Poor Widget had to make a run to the store for cat food because he hadn't paid attention to the weather and this was the ONE time he wasn't the one pulling a Chicken Little about an impending storm. I had to point out that Debby is supposed to basically set up camp off the coast and just rain for eons.
On the plus side, Target's cheese tortellini? Delish. Anyway, I ran out a minute ago to get the mail and check the flooding. The gutters are starting to fill in and the storm drain looks pretty high, so I was hoping it meant we were at high tide. Um, no. We're actually less than an hour away from low tide. And the pond is pretty full at this point. Yikes.
Pretty sure period kicked in a little earlier than usual (thanks) and I haven't heard from work, but to be fair it's not like I expect them to close tonight anyway and I don't work it so we'll see what the night brings.
I'd hoped to be further along on things today but yesterday I crashed (see period) and I spent the night doing laundry and making things were charged. Just in case.
Trying to debate whether to nap now or try and walk now. Guess I'll go peek outside and if it's coming down as it sounds, I'll just snooze and try later.
Also, not sure what fond some places are using, but whatever it is, it makes it so I keep reading Debby as Darby and it's driving me bonkers.
