impy: Lorelai Gilmore making her forks fight with the text 'Take That!' (crazy)

X3. X3. X3. Yeah, I had such high hopes for you, my darling. Perhaps that was the problem. I had high hopes for the original and left the theatre wanting to claw my eyes out. I had no hope at all for X2 and left the theatre ready to see the movie again and again and again. X3 wasn't as bad as the original but wasn't the joyous geektastic adventure of the second.
Perhaps because X2 seemed like an Xmen movie. Team work and more than two good guys versus one and a half bad guys? Yeah, that could do it.

I will never like Halle as Storm. In my head Storm was strong whether she was bitchslapping you with a lightning bolt or not. Halle's Storm still manages to waffle. Nyargh. Is it her fault? Is it the writer? Director? All of the above? Ding-ding-ding! So while I take great joy in the fact that she did something this go round and was definitely awesome when doing something involving her powers, I really need a distraction so I don't hope for Callisto to kick her ass. :p
But if you're going to say, "But what about Wolverine?" Meh. Wolvie's cool, but he's never been my favorite character, movie or otherwise. Moments of awesomeness, yes. However, not enough love there to properly distract me when I need it most. Poor Wolvie.

Technically we should have had enough people left over that this shouldn't have been an issue. But no, the bodycount in the movie? Who needs eating a sun when you can poof people into dust?

Scott: I loathe Cyclops in the comics and various animated goodies. Loathe. He's boring. He's so boring ranting about how boring he is bores me. BORING. My eyes glaze over when I think about him. Boring. Movie Cyclops is eye candy yummy and a bit better with the angst, but wait, what's this? He pulls a 'Logan', goes riding off to the lake of DOOM, saves his beloved and for his trouble she sucks him dry in a non fun way. Poof! Eye candy, gone for the entire movie. When the only person who cares that you're dead is Wolverine, who didn't like you much to begin with, there's a frickin' problem.

Rogue: I love comic Rogue. LOVE. But you de-age her and remove that personality and she's just super mopey. Which I can deal with. But wait, what's that? She spends five of her ten minutes onscreen watching her boyfriend flirt it up with another girl and the other five standing in line for a cure? Nyaaarrrrggggggh. Two down!

Prof. X gets his bitch on with Wolvie. Awesome. Two seconds later Jean has poofed him out of existence. Three down!

Iceman: Right up until the big fight, I'd have gladly hit him upside the head with an iron skillet. IDIOT. Still there, but not distraction worthy in a good way.

Kitty: I love Kitty in the comics. I loved Kitty towards the end of the movie when she's taunting Juggy. Otherwise my brain sort of spazzed. Distraction: failed!

On the other hand, Dark Phoenix? Or in this case, Phoenix? Awesome. Scary, hide under the bed, pray for someone to save you from her awesome. Though the hair was a bit on the wonky side. Still, awesome. Oh yes.
And for the record, I find Jean Grey to be as boring but more annoying than Cyclops/Scott. Annoyance factor is because she's oh so powerful and everrrrrryyyyyybody loves her. :p

Magneto's always fun, even at the end.

Part of what I loved in the comics and the cartoon was the way the team would combine their powers to create something really amusing or fantastic. Fastball special was nice, but it's like that's all Colossus was there for. Woe. So it was a bit of a pain when the single most amazing team up was Magneto chucking the cars into the air and Pyro setting them ablaze. The bad guys are kicking your ass in the collective nifty power front, guys. Uncool!

Beast. Oh Beast. You were so close to being my love, but they robbed you of most of your sense of humor. What's my Beast without that? What?
But you did say "Oh my stars and garters." So I died a happy little death right there.

So, now I ponder, how'd the bridge not crumble into the sea? At least after Mags was taken out, anyway. Hoooowwwww? He didn't move the supports, or at least not enough that they should hold the damn thing up, anyway.

Where were Jubilee & Pyslocke? I'm assuming Siryn was the redhead who kept popping up?
Inadvertantly tried setting up another viewing, but I think I missed it when I ohso foolishly went to sleep yesterday. Apparently "So we'll see it Monday" is code for "in an hour I'll call and invite you to see it tonight."

I don't want to go to work tonight. ;_;

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd is it wrong to be slightly miffed when you find out that the birthday and Christmas gifts you'd given someone who asked for them ended up on ebay?
