Random side-note: I work for the inventor of the American Girl dolls. She sold the company to Mattel, so I can't pull any employee discounts or anything nice like that... Wish I could.
I've heard the Mattel versions are less-nice in terms of quality, but since I've never compared a Pleasant Company doll to Mattel doll, I can't speak with an authority.
