For a slob, I get an awful lot of peace from sorting things, even if it's just making sense of the madness of any given picture album on my computer. Almost as relaxing as putting my books in order, or that time I stayed home from a weekend trip to visit family and for my first three hours of freedom sorted my comic book collection all over the stairs. Which I then took a break from to chat with someone from Australia for three hours [they called] and then spent another hour making sure the collection was recorded in my long lost notebook of doom. I could've died from joy right then.
Cuz I am a dork.
So. Who else reads Buffy S8? Anyone? I'm fairly certain T.S. and T do, but that might be the delusions of 5am... Anyway, newest issue. Am I the only one who still has the WTF...just happened bubble over my head?
Alas, my need to sort things does not truly extend to matters of the kitchen. That's more of a cleaning area, and as you might've guessed from the slob comment, I'm not a big fan of cleaning. Which is why there's a sinkfull of dishes I refuse to touch since none of them are mine. Hurumph. However, I know my stand off will end in failure since someone used all the frickin' glasses in the house [how? how is that even possible? Does no one reuse a glass anymore? Besides, Friday evening the cupboard was so full you couldn't even close it properly!] so... I'll have to do something about that. But then again, I did manage to clean off one shelf in the freezer and organize it neatly. I'd have done the bottom drawer/basket, but I'm thinking chucking frozen chicken in the garbage can four days before trash day would be an unbelievably bad idea.
Still stuck on the Buffy wtf moment.

Date: 2008-03-10 02:04 pm (UTC)But I have heard about said WTF-ery and I'm right there with you. Honestly, if Joss wanted Buffy to hop in the sack with a woman, the least he could've done was have it be with either Faith, as that subtext has been waiting to become official text for years, or Willow, the established lesbian character. It would still be WTF since Buffy has never outwardly expressed a sexual desire for women, but at least it wouldn't be with some one-off newbie who happens to have a crush on Buffy. And considering this sudden angsty-ness between Willow and Buffy (that SO wasn't there when the show ended, but whatever) having those two jump in the sack would almost make sense.
But okay. We've got newbie Satsu that we know nothing about other than she's a lesbian slayer who's in love with Buffy. Okay, Joss. Whatever.

Date: 2008-03-10 02:31 pm (UTC)The whole thing is just weird. I'd be less whiplashed by Faith or Willow, though, like you said, it would still be weird since it's Buffy. As it stands, I thought I'd finally managed to hallucinate, but no. I checked again after waking up and still the same.
How're you liking the season/comics so far?

Date: 2008-03-10 02:37 pm (UTC)I think my other issue with the comics is that Joss doesn't have his team of Mutant Enemy writers to keep him in check when he wants to do something insane. The comics are pretty much his baby and nobody else's. Joss can be brilliant sometimes, but he does need a team of writers to keep him in check just like his team of writers needed him to keep them in check when he abandoned Buffy in s7 to do Firefly. Lacking those checks and balances can result in major WTF-ery.
