..huh. Apparently my letter to Allure concerning the insane Victoria Beckham article/fat people "ick factor" thing actually made it to the magazine. Now I have to hunt it down and see exactly how much did. Weird. Victory? Because I think I've written to a magazine ... very, very few times, and mostly it was in my teen years. Confetti to follow, possibly.
The past few days have been a big dumping ground for new stuff. There was my stuff from the AG store, my Maid Marian Cherished Teddy and the rest of my Avon order [I know], Tezca came in today [yay!], and my pile of books I ordered from Widget's school came in yesterday.
And yet, I still plot to acquire something else. Curses!

Date: 2008-09-24 01:04 am (UTC)Careful with the wanting to buy stuff thing. I've gone doll crazy and now I'm all worried about the economy collapsing and still have like 8 more things coming in the mail. :*(
What AG stuff did you get? I'm so glad there's no store here cause they have way too much cool/godawful expensive stuff for those dolls.

Date: 2008-09-26 12:24 pm (UTC)I know... economy worries make me twitchy and feel old. Old and twitchy is not a good combo. I... should check on how many things I'm awaiting.
In happier, fluffier news, I bought:

Coconut, whom i've wanted for years, but peeking at old catalogs proves I should have bought him then. Cheaper and more stuff. Oh, time, why do you betray me so?

The witchy costume. To go with my infinitely superior older version of their cat costume.
Now I'm pondering Ruthie. And by pondering, I mean waiting for the bank to open so my check and I may run back to AG and buy her.

Date: 2008-09-26 04:20 pm (UTC)OMG that Coconut dog is so cute! Better than the Nintendogs I've been looking at. Is he AG too? Wait, is he the one that was supposed to be with my AG?
How many AGs do you have? I never got into them, and I have to keep from looking at all the hella cool outfits and accessories to buy for them! I love that stuff more than the dolls themselves I'm afraid, lol.
And what happened yesterday??

Date: 2008-09-26 05:17 pm (UTC)I have three AG dolls. After years of shameless begging, my grandfather bought me Samantha when I was... younger. I went without lunch for Kirsten [well, went halfsies] and one of the Girls of Today dolls back when they were introduced as well as her stuff out at the time. Redhead/green eyes. Annnnnd I just ordered Ruthie. Until recently I wanted the stuff more than I wanted a whole bunch of dolls, and it's still true. The furniture and some of the clothes and oooh, all the cute little expensive things? They kill me.
Yush, Coconut is AG-ified. I want most of his stuff although a real dog with that many outfits I'd mock until it bit me. :p
But Nero is so awesome! *cuddles hers* Though an Obitsued Nah is fantastic for that price. Dolly love!

Date: 2008-09-26 12:07 pm (UTC)Allure: How do you feel about fat people? Is there an ick factor?
VB: That’s an awful question. People have to be healthy. Some people can’t help being thin; some people can’t help being fat. People can’t help the way they look. I don’t like it when people are mean about me, so I’m not going to be mean about anybody else. Was the bit of the article that made me love her and hate Allure. I can get the sort of person who would ask the question [I wouldn't want to know them, neccesarily, especially considering he came across as an ass the rest of the article, too] but I can't really see who would think it a great idea to leave it in the article.
This is what I sent: I was very much looking forward to the Victoria Beckham interview in your August issue, and initially I wasn't disappointed. The rest of the issue was so good that I was trying to remember why I'd neglected to renew my subscription and the quickest way to remedy that when I finally settled on the main attraction. Charming, funny, engaging. Could I possibly love her more than I did when I was sixteen and the Spice Girls were everywhere? Well, yes. I could. The way she handled the incredibly tactless question concerning "fat people" and the "ick factor" was pure class. It's a shame that while your issue cemented my love for her, that one question blew away any chance of me coming back as a subscriber in the foreseeable future because I honestly cannot fathom why anyone would choose to ask that sort of question and then have it go to print.
The stuff in italics was printed, moved around a bit so it sounded more glowy than intended. :p Still, first letter in the newish Allure. Woo!
Now to find it at the Book Exchange so I don't have to buy it and go back on my word immediately.
