impyNever before have I had so much trouble finding a present for Widget. Widget is a fairly easy child to shop for. But this year? Yeah, the one gift I thought, "YES!" ToysRUs was sold out of. Bastards. I couldn't find ANYTHING I'd thought of getting him. My choices were picked over Wall-E toys [Mom went with one of them] or reissued GI Joes, but I couldn't find any that I could do the, "And your Daddy had this one, until he blew it's head off one day back in the blizzard of..." or "and your Daddy always wanted this one." At Target on Friday I did see a Joe I think the boy either had or wanted desperately as a kid, but I wasn't sure, and Mum was never around when I wanted to ask. Bother. Besides, $15 even for a deep sea awesome? Yeah.
The "I waaaaaaaant" moment at TRU was over a Wall-E learning lap-top, but all they had was Spiderman. Which he has. I should have checked to see the batteries needed for it. Anyway, I ended up with this King Arthur Lego-ish thing which was 40% off at KB cuz they're going under. If you randomly landed here, or you do work at KB and I didn't know, dude, you have my sympathy. The store? Totally trashed. Like, more stuff on the floor or that one waist-high shelf than anywhere else.
However, in the midst of that chaos, I found a Faith figure. And so I bought her because even with her on my bill, it was less than I'd been expecting. I bit my geeky tongue and did not point out that I would hardly classify Faith as Buffy's friend when the cashiers stopped and said, "Dude, we sell Buffy stuff?" "Well, not Buffy herself." "Right because that's not Buffy." "Right, so I guess she's like... a friend of Buffy's. Or something." "Totally."
So. BIG gift for Widget, yes. A few books added to the mix, yes. Annnnnnd... I don't know. I keep thinking there's something else, but wait! There is. I knew I did buy something at TRU other than his littlest sister's gift. I got him the mp3 player because it was cheap and if he kills it, my heart, she will go on. I'll burn him a CD with his songs on it and I'll let him know about the joys of the mp3 player [I can't believe I bought him one before I got one. Oi!]
The problem with buying gifts is there's generally that lag between buying the gift and when you can actually give it to whomever, and the wait? She's killing me.
Things that make me laugh, simply because to do otherwise would make me punch someone.
Person A: You can't say all people who are -THIS- are -something bad! Always something bad!- Stupid fucking -THIS OPTION 2-!
Person B: Wait, what? Since when are we, -OPTION 2-, all -something bad! Always something bad!-? Isn't saying that hypocritical?
Person A, C, and their friends: STUPID -OPTION 2-s! Always doing something -pick an accurate stereotype-!
It's like mad libs, but with an extra dose of stupidity. I live for the day, and it will never come in my lifetime, when you can tell someone they're being a fucking dumbass and it won't be anything more than you calling a dumbass a dumbass.
