impyI have quite a few pet peeves in this world. I try not to share because when people learn that EVOO drives you batshit crazy, they invoke those letters as much as possible. [See? Now you want to, unless it also drives you insane, and even then, I bet a few of you are seriously considering it anyway]
But I frickin' hate it when I'm reading a book and the hero/heroine does something massively stupid. As I previously mentioned, I'm in the middle of Stray and while the name Faythe makes me want to punch someone in the face, I accept that people can do whatever they want in this world, name wise. But then the stupid train pulled in and I... and... ARGH! The overall push of the story, aside from Faythe wanting her freedom and having whined about it for the last 300 pages [literally] is that someone is kidnapping the were-tabbies and doing horrible, horrible things to them.
So what does Faythe do? First she tries to negotiate her freedom while two of the eight eligible tabbies are missing. It never occurs to her to wait more than a day before stomping her foot and demanding to go back NOW, damn it. Um, right. No. You're too old for this shit.
Then, upon waking up after a drunken hookup, where she's pretty much surrounded by guards [less LKH than it sounds, I promise], she wanders off, seriously considers running away again, and then decides to stop at the barn. Far away from anyone else. Best case scenario, the guy you just hooked up with, the one who is crazy about you, wakes up and realizes you're gone. He's going to flip out. Bad kitty. In reality, she's about to be kidnapped because she was too freakin' stupid to realize if there are eight of you, one of you is dead [down to seven] and a second is missing, maybe you shouldn't be going out alone for awhile.
Logic. I just want some logic. It's not even like she was drunk at the time and thus temporarily rendered stupid. That had worn off already.
God, I am so tired, I would love to pass out, but my brother went out drinking after work and he's passed out to the world, so he won't be waking Widge up and I don't really trust Mumsy to do so either.
So. Tired.
Cat's vet visit went well. Will elaborate later as there is a story there.
I think I'm going to stumble to my shower and see if the water wakes me up.
