I hate bizarre, creepy dreams that leave me unable to go back to sleep, even if I did need to get up and take a shower before resuming naptime. I hate them even more when not even the shower, the sting from the soap in the cuts given to me by the cat, and the harsh light of day can knock the lingering creepiness from my memory!

First part of the dream involves watching. Girl and her mother are at the table, and the girl gets up, leaves the room for a second, and then comes back with her hair pulled back and glasses on. She's got a notepad and is pretending to be someone else. Says her name is something different and her mother is a bit exasperated as she apparently thought her daughter had outgrown this. Kiddo continues on with the new persona, and just as she's about to crack, I notice her father and someone else out of the corner of my eye. The someone else is a woman and she's worried as hell that the girl remembers because why else would she use that particular name? Annnnd the little girl overhears because I've chosen to pay attention to the conversation going on over to her right. She flips out, runs off, and I'm left wondering why, exactly, her father was all in blue and the other woman was all in red, like they'd been painted or were wearing horrid spandex body suits.

Girl runs off and somehow I blur into a second and third part of the dream. I'm at a huge estate somewhere relatively important. Couldn't tell you where or why, just that I am. I'm watching these four little girls [who aren't really, but gimme a sec] have to go through testing for some reason or another. As two of them cross the room and try to hop up into their chairs in the testing area, I go from mere observer to an actual person in my dream again. Yay? No yay. I'm ticked that these two girls have to go through the testing because apparently it's a bit like a citizenship thing and the only reason they have to take the damn test is because they aren't white. Which, a quick glance around the room of people watching this, isn't exactly anything that'll make 'em standout.

Time passes and I'm off in a separate section of the estate while the kidlets are in the far off building with nannies and whatnot. I'm bored out of my skull and there are fireworks going off. Then the room begins to shake and things fall and it's no longer fireworks. It's a storm, a bad one. I'm not allowed [physically restrained] to go rushing across the grounds to the kidlets until the eye of the storm passes over us. I break into a run [which'll never happen in reality] and run past entirely too many people running away from the very building I need to be in. None of them is carrying one of the kidlets. None of them. Panic sets in and I tear through the building and around it, wondering where they are and if I missed them, but knowing, in that way that dreams allow you to know all too much, that I haven't missed them. I just haven't found them, and when I do, it won't be pretty.

I find one little girl wandering outside the garden area, looking bewildered and more than a little messy. I snatch her up and, after making sure she's unhurt, hand her off to someone to whisk her away to safety. A few steps closer to the garden and I spy one of the short haired girls, and it's been two days and I can still hear her voice in my head. Two. Friggin. Days. "She was my friend. Can you help her? She was my friend." I follow her and find one girl to the left, her eyes open but nobody's home because she's fallen from one of the rooms and broken her neck. Before I can process that, the little girl I was following tugs on my hand and shows me another slice of horror. Little girl #4 is covered in spiders and very much dead. At this point my mind kind of starts the waking up process because hey, this nightmare crossed the line... I find 5 hiding in one of the rooms she shouldn't be in, along with a friend I've never met. There's quite a bit of coaxing involved to get them both out of whatever dangerous scrape they've landed in, and hey, telekinises is used and apparently there's teleportation too, but the damage is done.

Now, I should clarify that the only thing that kept me from waking up screaming is that they weren't actually little girls. They were dolls. That could move and talk and that by itself was kind of creepy, to be honest. But I can still hear that voice in my head without even trying.

So yes. Nightmares, definitely. It's too hot up here. Need to go mail things. Eat something. Read some more of my book. Cuddle the Widge perhaps.

It's taken me way too long to figure out that too hot=nightmares. If I fall asleep with a blanket on, it's guaranteed I'll wake up from some horrible murder dream. Mine have been like guys with guns coming in the house though. -_-

Dead children though...that is pretty freaky. :(
