impyWhat's that? Oh yes. It's the sound of me having snagged all I actually wanted from the great Kirsten fire sale. This does not include previously retired crap, nor does it include the truly expensive shtuff, but it does include all the clothes, accessories, and other odds and ends I wanted. So. For now I'm fairly content. Kirsten can lord it over the others (if she so wanted to and weren't, you know, a doll) that she's now got more of her collection than anyone. Though maybe not, if Nellie wanted to pursue the percentages considering she has a much smaller collection, but still has about half of it anyway. *muse* Anyway. Snagged something for Ruthie or Jess as well. We'll see who looks cuter in it when it gets here. The winner shall have a new outfit. The loser will still not be nekkid.
Ahhh, Netflix. You reminded me why it makes me sad that you've pretty much helped kill the traditional video store. I used to love wandering around and looking at all the pretty and pretty awful cover art on various movies. I was always fascinated by the Horror section because it was definitely a melting pot of fantastic artwork and some of the worst crap that even at eight I could identify as a Really Bad Idea. Sometimes just the cover was enough to give me nightmares. And yet I continued to look... and later, I was definitely the person putting Barney in the horror section. I was never cruel enough to put something terrifying in the kid's section in return. I figured since Mums worked there and they did stuff like that all the time, I could too. :P
Your Mission: I've got the week off. It's October which means horror movies are welcome, as are general Halloween goodies. Suggest movies for me to see. Bonus points if you pick from Netflix's vast array of crap I can just watch on my computer. Please keep in mind the following: Torture porn does nothing for me other than makes me ill. So whoever decided that was a fun sub-genre to add to the mix and then NOT warn people before they saw a particular movie? Should be shot. I don't mind horrible movies that must be seen to be believed for their awesomely bad-ness. Classics are probably welcomed as I tend to not watch a lot of horror stuff alone, which means anything everyone else has seen? I might not have. :P If I'm required to watch every possible second of gore to find out what the hell is going on, you should probably not suggest it. I watch from behind splayed fingers at times. I am a wuss, but not as big as some. Extra bonus points if I can ID someone in the film and they don't die in two seconds. Makes me sad.

It was pretty damn good, so if it's true to form when it comes to Japanese original vs. American remake, the Japanese version is probably fucking awesome. Unfortunately I don't know what it's called but I'm sure Wikipedia can solve that problem for you.
The Japanese version of One Missed Call is pretty good. Also, another Japanese movie that's not necessarily horror but more drama/thriller that's really good is Recycle.
If you haven't seen the Japanese version of The Grudge, Ju-on, then I also recommend that.
Oh and some other good ones that were out in theaters last year are The Strangers (Liv Tyler) and Quarantine (remake of Spanish film called Rec, stars Jennifer Carpenter). Both films made my skin crawl with the creep factor. Couldn't sleep the nights after we saw both of those in the theater.
