oh television gods...
Jan. 13th, 2010 10:48 amTo kill time until I feel better, I've been watching copious amounts of TV and running through my Netflix subscription. I'm currently up to Supernatural Season 4 and I have to say there is precious little that cannot be made better by the Winchester boys. Seriously.
Sometime before Cass went to live in Maryland, she and I watched the first episode of the fourth season, and I... had a few issues. Angels? Really? But I knew that fandom, in general, seemed to have a big thing for Castiel so I thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I've liked twisted angels in other series of the supernatural variety so maybe this wouldn't be so bad.
And thus far I've been right. They show up, they fuck things up, they leave, and generally they seem to threaten to throw Dean back to hell. Woo. I don't get the massive Castiel love that's been going on. Generally speaking, I just figure there must be something more that's coming down the line. Except then I remember reading people's wishlists for last year and how there was a loooooooooot of Castiel/Dean and now I'm thinking there are just crazy people.
Angelically speaking, I like Anna. A lot. I'm thinking it's the wonky mouth and the strange red hair. But I'm afraid of what a return might mean, so, yes.
Then you've got my real reason for dragging my feet for so long.
New!Ruby. I liked bitchy blonde Katie Cassidy Ruby. I think part of this was influenced by Ari telling me I was going to like her (or else!) but for the most part I liked that Ruby. I liked black!Ruby. Didn't like temporarily blond Ruby in Sam's flashbacks, though. So... I'm thinking it's one of two things.
1) The actress. She's pretty and I don't hate her on sight but maybe she just doesn't do total bad-ass bitchy. She SHOULD since that's Ruby. Instead, her Ruby always looks like she's about to whine or cry, or cry and then whine about crying. I do not like this. I should not be rooting for your untimely demise.
2) When they switched actresses, they changed the writing and character, particularly since they were going to hook her and Sam up. I repeat: Ruby should not be on the verge of whining all the damn time. STOP IT.
Something is wrong and it vexes me.
That said, Criss Angel is a Douche Bag wins for episode title and for making me shriek, "Private Dancer!" at the TV. Scrubs + Supernatural + Angel + Spin City + Rocky Horror = DUDE.
...yes. With all of those things to choose from, I went with the Scrubs ref. Sue me.
And then explain why I am unable to get enough of Tabatha's Salon Takeover. I don't... understand. This should not appeal to me, but it does. Oh, sweet baby boy who lived, it really and truly does. It is a thing of beauty. How does she manage to not smack some of these people?

Date: 2010-01-14 05:20 am (UTC)God I can't wait until my mother brings me the rest of my Xmas loot so I can start rewatching S4. I bought it with Xmas money but left it behind when plans changed and I had to take the train instead of getting a ride back. Want stuff! Need distractions from real life! :-P
