Kay, we've established that this is all zallia's fault. With that out of the way, we begin the 30 Days of Sailormoon meme. Or something.

Day 1 - Favourite character:


Aino Minako/Mina/Sailorvenus/Sailor V


Sailormoon brings back a lot of memories. I think I was sixteen or so when I started watching it. I didn't watch it because I'd discovered a lot of anime or manga or anything. I watched it because a friend I'd met on a Savage Garden (woo!) message board and clicked with over the phone was coming to visit. She loved SM and I wanted to have a backup point of interest just in case.

To be honest, at first I wasn't all that thrilled. It wasn't bad. It was just... ridiculous. Still, it was cute enough and during one episode I fell asleep. I had a dreamhouse. In it, the different scouts (and since I was watching the dub, they're scouts) matched up with people. C was Sailormoon because if ever you met her back then, you'd understand. The two were separated at birth. And that is meant with all the good things about Usagi. C was a sweetheart who believed the best in people even when they didn't necessarily deserve it. She was super exciteable and if you had good news? She'd be just as excited for you. Adorable. I swear.

To this day I don't remember whether she was actually C's favorite or not.

My brain paired Mars up with A. And it kind of fit. Bitchy, moody, and clashed like crazy with Moon? Oh yeah. Thing is, I don't think A had watched the show at this point, but later, when she had, she claimed Mars as her favorite.

Brain picked Jupiter for C. I don't know why. Big boobs mebbe? Totally boy crazy? In retrospect they didn't have a lot in common, but C loved her all the same and again, my dream powers were amazingly on target. (Fear me.)

I think you see where this is going. And if not, well, damn. I thought you were smarter than this.




My favorite character has been Minako/Sailorvenus/Mina since the moment she appeared on screen. I fell and fell hard. I liked that her alter ego's alter ego was this big name and yet she stepped aside and let Usagi/Moon run the show while still protecting her because, dammit, Jim, that's her job. I love that she seems like this incredibly happy, hyper person at times, and then she'll switch to being this take charge type and it will be effortless. I think it was a damn shame that as the series progressed she seemed to become ditzier, but I tell myself it was because she was _happier_ and it could be true. It doesn't hurt that she has her own moon cat, too.

And this is how much I loved Minako. Look Out Venus Yeah, tripod did horrible things to it with ads and all, but the idea is still the same. I friggin' built a webpage and for quite awhile I updated like a FIEND.

She's funny, she's sweet, she's goofy, and she's adorkable.
