Pretty Little Liars
Please, Do talk About Me When I'm Gone
1x08

Also known as the one where you meet Jason DiLaurentis. I think I'm far more interested in Jason before his sister's death than I am in his current incarnation. I don't know if the actor is bad, or if Jason is supposed to be this much of an insufferable bore. I suspect it's a combo of the two, given the way the guy delivers certain lines. But again, it could be an intentional thing. Dunno. Doesn't really matter, I guess, although he trips the creepy meter something fierce towards the end.
The girls, particularly Spencer, have been hard at work setting up a memorial for Ali. I still find it highly doubtful that Ali would really appreciate a bench with hand painted tiles and artwork commissioned by a friend of Aria's mother. While I believe she'd get a kick out of the immortality bit, and not just the repeated usage of the "that's immortality, my darlings" clips, but because she was/is a vain liittle thing, I believe she's entirely too shallow/materialistic to get into the memorial they chose for her. Does that make sense?
Spencer does not take well to all the changes Jason makes, and to be fair, he comes across like an ass. And then you feel bad because this is his sister we're talking about. But there's some heavy indication that Jason isn't all that different from his book counterpart, at least in terms of making it so that Jenna and Ali would have a lot to bond over. *coughcough* Spencer then asks Jenna not to spill their secrets because Jenna has asked to speak at the memorial. Jenna sets off the creepy bells like you would not believe, and this confuses me.
Book Jenna I don't remember feeling this creeped out by as a general rule. I think I was for maybe a book, but then it went away if it was there for that long. I actually liked her in the books and was upset when... well. And yet even her big speech at the end of the episode doesn't really convince me that she's not super fantastically creeptastic. (Although Jason's reaction to said speech definitely moves him up the list.)
Emily asks Maya out on a date and it's all very cute. Then I realize that I had no frickin' clue her father was overseas. I just thought they were too cheap to pay an actor to portray him, or just hadn't found one yet. :P So something, somewhere, was lost. I should probably care more about this, but there's the whole Emily is totally making out with Maya in the movies. Seriously. She's the one initiating the makeout session. Thumbs up? Thumbs up.
Hanna and Lucas continue to bond over the geekier side of things, and while I find it a bit odd that Hanna wouldn't know the fine art of ebay or some other auction site, I'll allow it. I suppose. It brings me super cute Hanna/Lucas moments so I must.
Aria spends the episode moping around about Ezra ditching her. I can't say I blame her. Thing is, as adorable as Fitz and Montgomery are, they bore me. Or... I don't know. I like them together, I just don't really care whether I see them or not. I don't know how to describe it. They don't exactly bore me, and I'll miss them as a couple, but mostly I'll miss seeing the actor, I think. And possibly the character as well. I just don't really care too much about them as a couple. Mojo Jojo Speak and all.
If you've been dying for flashbacks and wondering where they all went, they were saved for this episode. There are a lot of them, even if they are all from the same scene.
Big reveal here is that Ali told Jason that it was Spencer's idea to teach Toby a lesson and that she also told Jenna that Spencer has Anger Management Issues. Also, there are two Alison bracelets running around. One was on her body when she died, one turned up a few episodes back.
There's a video of Lucy Hale on the Ryan Seacrest show (radio) and she says that book!A isn't the same as TV!A. Of course, it's not like she can say that they are the same and it would not be the first time an actor lied about a spoiler. But while you could still make a really good case for Mona being A, I'm starting to believe they're going in a different direction.
I'm most of the way through Wanted and I have to wonder if they'll stick to this at all, or if we're just going to completely diverge sometime soon.
All this said, I hate the picture of Ali they keep using for everything. I sincerely doubt that I would chose to use the picture on the "Missing" posters for the memorial, but even if I did, I think that's a really bad picture. If I tell myself this is intention to screw with Ali, I feel better about the whole thing.
Also, Wilden is a bit on edge, eh?
