My craft gene is broken
Dec. 1st, 2010 01:17 pmTis December first, so have my crafty in advent calendar form.

It's a shame this particular envelope turned out to be so freakin' ugly after the glitter storm was blown away. It actually looked much better with just the glue. How sad is that?

I covered the corkboard in the office with wrapping paper. (the cats have shredded part of the right hand side over the years.) Excuse the glare and the fact that really, there comes a point when you just don't care, you just to want to stick some freakin' pushpins in things. I had to use the wrapping paper we had, and I don't really like red, so I went with a blue-ish color scheme.
Also, you will notice that the wall is blue so that also limited the options.

Sometime Monday I remembered that back when Ari was shopping for her wedding, we each bought some sealing wax and seals. Hers were for wedding invitations and mine was just because it was there. That was almost four years ago, I think. Anyway, there's some trial and error involved, but for the most part I'm pleased with the way they came out. Also? Do you see how mostly legible those numbers are? I have TERRIBLE handwriting and I got so lucky that you can tell the numbers apart and that the stuff I wrote for the inside is also legible.

Yes. I also drew on a couple of the envelopes. You can marvel at my oh so impressive Christmas tree and snowman who lost his hat. Oh yeah. Anyway, this is the finished product. Inside each envelope is a little something. The first is a small Snoopy sticker, the second has candy, the third has another sticker... Somewhere around the 6th, he has a little voucher for a coloring book. I think the 12th gets him a toy car, the 15th has an ornament for the tree, and the 18th has a fairly large (all things considered) candy bar. There are some Butterfinger minis in some of the larger envelopes, too. I tried to space things out so that he wouldn't be able to guess what he'd be getting since everytime you'd catch on to my system, I'd switch things up. He's really excited about the larger envelopes and I get a small giggle from the fact that I think he'll like the smaller surprise! car ones more. Heh heh...

Snowman!
If I ever say I'm going to do something like this again, feel free to slap me.

Someone has taken to guarding my window to keep me safe from squirrels...
