Really? I've tried to avoid the really obvious answers when possible (I admit I've used a few), but this one is... really? Okay, fine. Patrick Thomas. He abandoned his family and while you can't say he didn't look back... he didn't look back hard enough. Yeah, things turned out okay for them, but that is not the point. Movie!Patrick has creepy overtones in that he only contacts Kristy for reasons that are never explained beyond the fact that she's in the BSC and the movie was about the BSC and we needed conflict and we couldn't hire extra people to portray the older sibs. There's the fact that his absence gave way to some Serious Issues for Kristy and after awhile it was the go to shtick for the lazy ghostwriter du jour to trot out Kristy's daddy issues to move things along.
Or how about the various continuity errors his existence beyond "not around anymore. Deal." caused the series? That's a headache in and of itself.
Once they started dabbling in bringing him back into things, I got the feeling that Patrick Thomas was the kind of guy who probably thought kids and marriage were something you did, whether it's because he and Kristy's mom got surprised by Charlie or if it was the traditional route. Doesn't matter. He realized a few kids too many into the whole experiment that they were cramping his style and he lacked the ability to be a good parent. Possibly he felt bad about this, or at least bad about not feeling bad about it. Not sure. But he lacked the ability to realize that his popping in and out of their lives was more problematic than staying away, so when he felt the need to reassert his importance in their lives, he did without stopping to assess the damage he was doing. And he kept walking away. It wasn't enough to do it once, he had to keep repeating the action over and over.
So. Yeah. Not a fan. Not even if you spin the theory that DM isn't his kid and that was what pushed him over the edge. :P
