impyDay Four: A female character you relate to:
So this is going to be obvious as hell, but I'm sleepy so lazy I'll be. Daria. Oh the sarcasm. The sarcasm! Granted beyond that, the similarities were never all that strong. Pale? Check. A love of stompy boots? Indeed. Um... oh, and we both tiger striped our best friend's hair. Otherwise, Daria was/is much smarter than I and for all her loathing of her schoolmates, she interacted with them more than I ever did mine.
But the unpopular sibling who has to put up with the incredibly popular sibling who sacrificed their braincells for said popularity thing rang incredibly true, and for awhile I had a friend who looked a lot like Trent. There's probably nothing super special about relating to Daria, but it doesn't change the fact that I did and, to a degree, still do. It was nice to know that somewhere out there someone had to be just as painfully awkward socially as I was if they were fictional and on MTV. :p
I'm lazy so I'm not screencapping my own. Maybe when I uncover the DVD I will. Also? A word to the wise: Do not do an image search for Daria images unless you want to see Quinn doing bad, bad things. o_O
I wasn't aware there was a term for it, but I 'shipped Trent/Daria so hard. So hard. The only other couple I got the same warm fuzzies for was Willow/Oz from Buffy and Trent/Daria got there first.
We do not speak of the great frosty chill in their friendship due to Tom as it still makes me sad to think about it.
