Fun with promo pics!
Mar. 25th, 2012 11:44 pmPullip Roundup! This does not include the minis (it would be far easier to list the ones I don't have of those anyway) but does include Namus, Taeyangs, and Dals. Byuls do not really appeal and until just recently I hadn't really noticed Isul. So they obviously aren't included either. I feel like I'm missing someone... Ah well.
2003:

Squall and Carol. They weren't bought when they were released and instead came much later. Carol isn't officially (...you get the idea) named MA, but she really reminds me of her (the sad brows!) but mine is customized and she was free. I still can't believe that.
2004:

Arietta, Anne, Nero, Principessa, Alice, Oren, Purezza, Panda, Fourrure, China China, and Serpent. Nameless really is called Nameless (short for The Nameless Prince) so don't get confused by the ones who never changed their names or are, in fact, actually nameless at the moment. Alice was my first Pullip, but Princi was the first one I saw in pictures and realized was a Pullip. (Serpent was the first Namu I saw and remains the only one I have any interest in at all.)
2005:

Fanatica, Afternoon, Mercu, Jupi, Paja, Rovam, Greggia, Raphia. The transition to type 3 was not a happy one. So many awesome outfits wasted on a body that was exceptionally fragile without any payoff in terms of posing ability.
2006:

Cornice, RIDa (yes, twins, but not purchased at the same time), Holly, Nina, Nahh-Ato, Eternia, Craziia, Papin, Brand New Purezza, Zuora, Chill. MJ, Filato, Timulus. Drta, Fiori.
Dals and Taeyangs were introduced. I want to say the DAL promos looked one way and everyone either ordered or ran screaming and then new promos came out and people did the opposite of what they'd done before? Anyone remember? Anyway, I've grown to love grumpy Dal because she's INSANE.
2007:

Suigintou, Stica, Suiseiseki, Barasuishou, Aquel, Uncanricky, Hello Kitty, Prunella. Rot-Chan, Jolie.
2008:

Celsiy, Adsiltia. Hangry, Magical Pinkchan, Tezca, Milch.
2009:

Clarity. Angry, Lizbel.
There are a couple I need to check to make sure I didn't forget but this is mostly the complete list of everyone who is currently here. Two more are on the way.
I love my Pullips, although good lord do I have a lot. I think I liked it better when there actually seemed to be a Pullip community although I don't think I was ever fully integrated into it. I liked the snarky communities (shocker!) and I liked the way various communities came together. Ultimately I think I fell out of the habit when my AG love flared up again and when the prices for Pullips went up and the collabs also went up. So, no community, no money, and dolls that didn't interest me as much? Yeah. I checked out. It didn't help that they'd go through periods where the faceups would all be identical.
Looking back, there are a few I probably would have passed on if I'd seen what was coming later or what they actually looked like as opposed to the promo shots, but mostly I am happy with each doll. I don't think everyone can say the same.
Anyone who you want to see more of? Ainsley, Evie, and Theresa are all wig-swappable, as is Evan, but I'm not entirely sure where the wigs are. Oh, and Scar is as well but she's not likely to actually join in because I like the wig she's got now.
Oi, z! Did you know they were re-releasing Moon, Anne, Alice, and Fanatica starting this month? (Well, Fan and Alice will be shipping sometime in early April but you get the idea)

Date: 2012-03-26 04:06 pm (UTC)Yes! I read that and then it filtered out of my brain again before we could talk about it!
I guess Groove's selling them directly now. They're having a promotion for free shipping through the end of March, plus there's some weird sticker system to get a free doll after spending a hojillion dollars.

I'm hoping it means that they can do more promotions than PS normally does, like clearance sales or something? Right now it seems pretty janky for opening a week ago and seems they only have the regens.
And eeee! Look at all those rares you have from 2004-2005! I'm totally jealous. Afternoon, too! I admire your ability to name them all. I love just randomly coming up giant Russian Panda name, heh. :)
I'd love to see more Afternoon, Adsiltia(still waffling on her) and Brand New Purezza since she'll always be my first love. <3

Date: 2012-03-26 04:30 pm (UTC)SO. TEMPTED. MOON. CAPSLOCK. *sits on hands and tells herself no, no...*
Afternoon! I still remember when people were all "ew, old lady." about her. *makes notes of which dolls to photograph first* Tishy's got the super long name because it's fun to say. (Go on, try it. See? Is fun!)
I didn't know BNP was your first love! I hear a story in there. *grabs easter candy and awaits storytimes*

Date: 2012-03-26 04:57 pm (UTC)It's not super interesting, but just that I think I first saw Pullips in one of Mom's doll magazines and it was the space girls and Rovam? LOVED her and Mercu, but it was aftert they were already mostly sold out and up there in price. I balked intially at the prices anyway, but couldn't get them out of my head and did my wishful thinking shopping. I fell in love with BNP since she just looked the most sophisticated I think, plus came with furniture! And jewelry, so that to me was $$ worth it. I still couldnt' justify it though so had my boyfriend at the time buy her for me and got her when I went to visit up in Ohio along with the mini fall Purezza. Did my first photoshoots up there, too. Even though most things like that carry bad connotations for me after the break-up, she never has.
Trades! I want to hear how you got Carol for free!
And thank you so so much for the e-card. It did make me tear up, but in a lovedness way not a sad way. :) You're so sweet and wonderful and it's just what I needed.

Date: 2012-03-26 08:33 pm (UTC)Based on the promo shots, I think they did a good job with everyone but Alice. Something about her seems... off, but Alice herself looks off in photos at times. Moon! (And Fanfan!)
So your first Pullip was a Purezza and then little minis to go with her? Yays! :D And I'm glad she's avoided the curse of infected by the ex.
Carol: Someone offered her up on coolpulliptable one day (along with another Pullip) and I expressed interest since custom!Carol lacks the "Merry Christmas... I'm going to jump off a ledge now" eyebrows. We kept playing email/comment tag and things never lined up properly until one day I got an email saying that she felt bad about how long we'd been in limbo and that Carol was on her way. She arrived and the peasants rejoiced.
