impyThings to love, an assorted list:
Don't Trust the Bitch In Apartment 23: I've been looking forward to this one since I read an article awhile ago about controversial show names (this and GCB were both featured prominently) and realized it had Krysten Ritter whom we love for reasons I'm not fully sure why (as in what started the love, not so much the why. The why is obvious: she's fun to watch) and James van der Beek as himself, only tweaked. Which could have gone one of two ways: awesome or awesomely bad. Ari told me the show was up early on Hulu, so Monday while fending off a headache and feeling like crap, I watched.
I love. It's completely over the top and totally demented and not at all what you expect (beyond awesome) and if people who not pick up 'whorenado' in some way/shape/form, I will be seriously disappointed in pop culture. Whether you loved him as Dawson or not, JvdB is pretty freakin' funny and has been known to run away with entire scenes, which is no small feat for this show. Oh, and Liza Lapira (best known to me as Agent Lee on NCIS, but she's been just about everywhere) is adorkably psychotic. The first two episodes are up on Hulu now, and I really don't think you'll be disappointed if your sense of humor and mine mesh at all.
GCB: I had no interest in watching this when it first started circulating around... I dunno when I first heard of it. Last year sometime, obviously. And then I noticed Annie Potts was attached. So I watched the first episode. And I was a little... meh to some things and loved others. I still think Kristin Chenoweth resembles a bobblehead more and more as the years go by (seriously, in the pilot it is REALLY distracting) but... somehow by the second episode this no longer bothers me. I think because I'm highly amused by the fact that she's like, pocket sized and has to climb on things to properly spy on her neighbors.
I enjoy the fact that the people protesting the show over the name alone don't realize the show itself does not have a problem with the C in "GCB", it's the fact that so many outspoken members of that particular group also happen to be members of the unfun group represented by the B as well. :P
But mostly I love that just when you think you've got it figured out as completely fluffy, something changes and you realize there's actually some depth there after all. I really, really hope this gets renewed. It gives me warm fuzzies.
I had other things, but then I got distracted, so this will do for now.
Oh, and the combination of MLP:FiM and BSC. That also makes me smile.
