Because I'm one of those people who is easily swayed (I'm a sheep, baa) I figure I'll blather on about the MH special, Escape from Skull Shores before I go reading other people's opinions.

1) Why does this franchise insist on character assassination (nearly)every special? Frankie didn't fare so well in the first special, Deuce got hosed in the Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love and Draculaura didn't fare too well in that one, and Gil... well, Gil. Shh, don't speak. You're so pretty and you were so awesome when you first appeared, but obviously you were based on someone's boyfriend and that boy did them wrong and you (and Deuce) are paying the price for it. You should sue, hon. You, Deuce, and Richard from the Anita Blake series, as well as countless other characters have every right to be insulted by your recent actions.

Sigh.

2) I still do not like the CGI. Mums actually really liked Frankie this go round and I had to work really hard to keep my face from showing the absolute horror I felt at this revelation. I think SS Frankie is probably the prettiest Frankie doll ever, so to see her look so... meh (to me) was just unappealing. And the fact that Frankie's linked to yet another guy? Seriously? With no mention, at all, of the whole Jackson/Holt thing? Oi!

3) LAGOONA. Even saddled with Gil being an incredible pain in the ass, she is made of awesome. Even with the less than lovely animation style, still total and complete love. I love you, Lagoona Blue, and I'm pretty sure I'm not completely alone in this. I love how she's fairly level-headed and not shown to be a complete dumbass, but I also really like her calling Gil out on his BS. Finally, spotlight on Lagoona. It's only taken two years.

Everything else: Overall, it wasn't what I expected and I kind of like that the promos gave a lot away, but they didn't come close to giving everything away. Hell, they didn't even really give half of it away. Yes, the online pics via Facebook gave a little more away than I'd have liked, but there were still surprises. I liked Andy, although I feel like I'm missing the obvious pun/connection with his name. Blonde moment and all. I didn't even mind him and Frankie together, although I still think it's a bit much to have her change semi-love interests quite so often.

I didn't appreciate the duplicated gag in which Clawdeen & Draculaura have no idea who *someone* reminds them of. The second go round it just made them look stupid, and I would never use that word to describe Clawdeen, and it wouldn't really even come to mind for Draculaura. (Naive, yes, stupid, not so much.) Harshness may be due to my low tolerance for such things.

I enjoyed Lagoona doing her part to save the day, and Abbey did her part in a way that still managed to steal parts of the show. Ghoulia was mostly along for the ride which felt a little off, truthfully, but I'm torn on whether I'm glad they didn't push her as this superhero like they do in the webisodes or regard it as yet another blip in the continuity failures we've been racking up. Didn't like Gil having his helmet off at the end of their island adventure since he'd worn the damn thing the whole freakin' time and there was no logical reason for him not to need it then. Also, didn't feel Bloodgood would have not seen through what's-his-name's facade and let him into the school, let alone let him make such a presentation that harassed one of her students.

Loved the Wolf siblings ready to rumble at the end, the Tikis in general, Cleo's competition with Draculaura at the carnival, the little flashes of Cupid and Venus throughout the episode, although I didn't see Rochelle. Loved Clawdeen tracking Frankie. Loved Andy in both his monster and not quite so monstrous forms. Kipling was fun and I wish he'd gotten a little more time to be awesome.

Mostly I enjoyed them having an actual adventure. I wish we'd seen Lagoona's family, although that would have caused more continuity issues. Comparatively speaking, I'm not sure where it fits in on my scale of appreciation for the specials, but it was entertaining.

But mostly? Lagoona.

Hey, you mirrored all my thoughts, pretty much point for point! Gil...ugh. Good job, Movie, now I severely dislike him and wish Lagoona would send him on his way. Isn't Jackson supposed to be the wussy one? Why do we need two?? And then he finally does *overcome his fears* or whatever and we don't even see it!? What was the point then!? Haha, the sudden helmet off thing bothered me too!

Really disliked the CGI in this one, too. Robert came in while I was watching it and visibly recoiled and went "What the hell!?" I was like "I know...eck". Then he asked me if Andy was supposed to be "a satyr or Satan" and I was like "...I...actually can't answer that". So yeah, I have no idea where his name's stemming from either, but if it's Greek, I'm not quite up on that.

Frankie playing the field too was like, really how many boyfriends does she need?! Can we get some canon *anywhere*?!

The villain and helper guy were a little too Disney for me, as well. He didn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the show to me. Voice acting was really well done, I have to say. And I loooooooove Cleo's SS look and can't wait for her to be a doll!

Oh and it was a little too heavy with the "it's not about being a monster on the outside, it's what's on the inside that counts!" after-school special talk. Once for Baghead guy or Andy was fine, thanks, but I didn't need to hear it out of the mouth of every girl on screen.

Plus side, Widget walked away with the moral of the story there with it being hammered into his head so often.

Or, or, fantastic drinking game!

Maybe that was their plan to off-set the lack of Gil dolls available by the time this aired? "Well, we're going to make him pretty much completely unlikable by 4/13, so there's no need to keep him in the cases, right?" Which is a shame because when Gil first showed up, he was pretty darn awesome. Special!Gil is not Gil, and I'm going to have to just pretend he Never Happened. Even Widget (we watched it again this evening) was annoyed by his wussitude.

I'm glad I'm not the only one stumped by his name. Usually the puns/references are obvious but dude, I got nothing. And no one else has chimed in with the answer or even questioning it. Perhaps when the lust wears off?

I'm thinking the only continuity we're ever going to get is that there is no continuity where you'd expect it to be. (Unlike Charmed where the motto was: Continu-i-what-ity?)

Cleo was awesome. Upon rewatching, she's definitely a serious highlight. I'm not sure how well she'd translate to doll form, but dude, I want them to try. And try really hard. I wish they'd dialed back on the helium effect for Draculaura's voice, but everything else made me happy voice wise. (Gil's changed, too, right? Or is it that he never talked so much at once?)
