31 Days of October, Day 30: AG Edition
Oct. 30th, 2012 07:27 pmAs promised, the AG Army: Halloween 2012.

Back Row: Ruthie is Alice in Wonderland, Sonali is a ballet dancer, possibly she's Jessi Ramsey, Felicity is Little Red Riding Hood, Ivy is Ellen Riteman, Kirsten is Mary Wallace, Kanani is Mandy Miller, Lane is a black cat, and HTA is the Sugar Plum Fairy
Bottom Row: Jess is a greek goddess, Cecile is a friendly witch, Nellie is either a ghost or the kid who ends up sick on Halloween and has to stay home, Samantha is Miss Lila Fowler, and Elizabeth is Jessica. ;)
Lane, Jess, and Cecile are in actual AG costumes while Sonali and HTA are wearing actual AG ballet outfits.

Nellie got short-changed in the costume department because she was the last one to get dressed up and by then I no longer wanted anything to do with the Army. Plus I got the idea to try her in Kirsten's nightgown and then she looked so huggable that I decided she'd be my "sit and do nothing" pal.

Cecile looks prettier in person in this outfit than she does in the pics. Woe!

Aww.

Jess wore this last year and she'll probably wear it again next year. She's so pretty in it! Also, behold my squishable pumpkin from Target. :D
And finally:

The Unicorn Club
I'm actually kind of happy with how (almost) everyone turned out. I couldn't bear to make anyone pretend to be Janet *shudder* so... I had to figure out which Unicorns actually showed up a lot. Lila and Jessica were the obvious two and the only question was who would play Lila. Samantha has portrayed Lila at least twice in the past so this year I was actually going to let someone else play the role, but I thought I'd try her in this year's holiday dress (purple!) just for funsies to see if it fit (she's chubbier than some of my other dolls) and not only did it fit, she looks super pretty in it. I must confess that my Sam and I do not always see eye-to-eye on her prettiness levels but in this? I'm kind of stunned at how pretty she is. We have ourselves a Lila!
Lizbeth is playing Jess because I'm a dork and I think it's funny to say Elizabeth is playing Jessica. ;) No idea where the blue shirt that belongs under this outfit actually is but we made due. I figured Jessica would wear the hat once Lila showed up in fancy party gear.
Ivy is playing Ellen for two reasons, one of which we'll get to in a minute. The other is because she has short, dark hair. :P Ellen's outfit is very simple but she's probably the cutest of the bunch. Curse your adorableness, Ivy Ling! (and by curse, of course, I mean I love you.) Ellen was picked because she's usually the third Unicorn showing up, even if I only remember that she's a bit of an idiot.
Kirsten as Mary is the one I'm least satisfied with. I should have curled her hair but I thought it would be wavier than it was. Not so much. Mary is another Unicorn I remember, though she later defects to the Angels. Right before that, though, they get jackets, so... Mary gets the 90's jacket. :P It's just not a super great look for poor Kirsten. Hair needs more poof!
Speaking of hair, Kanani gets to be Mandy because Mandy was known for her hair prior to being The One With Cancer. Kanani is known as the one with the hair. Beyond that, they don't have all that much in common but she did fit in for one other reason...
The Unicorns were always going on and on (and on) about being the prettiest and most desirable girls at the middle school, yes? Only some of them we have our doubts about. *coughJANETcough* So I also picked some of the AGs based on their popularity. ;)
Samantha is pretty much known as the face of AG, even now. Lila would totally think she's the face of the Unicorns, yeah? Sam's fairly popular though Lila would be appalled at how cheap some Sams go for since every little girl seems to have gotten Sam as their first doll. Still, popularity is there.
Elizabeth, I gather, was also incredibly popular during her run. I know that she was usually commanding either retail or above retail price on eBay prior to her archival, even for used and TLC dolls, which is a pretty good indicator to me that she's fairly sought after. Jessica? Totally would approve.
Ivy, however, doesn't seem to be all that popular. Much like how I always figured Ellen was. In the Unicorn Club series she was nice enough, but during SVT, she was the bitchy sidekick without a working brain. :P
Mary was another one who seemed well known enough but not necessarily the one you'd pick if you chose the most popular Unicorn. Kirsten was one of the Forgotten Four so... not all that popular. No one seemed to hate her (Ivy's outfit alone has inspired hatred) but when she was archived the general consensus was "thank god it's not ___!"
Mandy Miller? You mention the Unicorns and she'll be right at the top of the list of names people remember. Cancer will do that. Also, Mandy (like Mary) was one of the nicer Unicorns. Kanani was (is?) one of the most popular GOTYs put out so I figured she'd fit in with the popular/not popular dynamic behind the scenes. ;)
Hopefully you enjoyed things. Also, say hey to Wilmer, my shark. :D (And uh, Twilight Sparkle was representing the real unicorns, also in purple. Coincidence? Miss Lila Fowler thinks not.)

Date: 2012-11-01 03:02 am (UTC)Sam really does make a great Lila, and Elizabeth as Jessica, well. Barbie-good-looks finally came in handy for something, eh? :)
Kirsten was actually my second favorite Original AG (after Sam), and one that my childhood BFF actually had, so she's the only one I ever played with. It makes me sadface to learn she's forgotten because she's so awesome :(
[And talk of the BSC group makes me want to get my 18" BSC dolls out of storage, LOL!! :P]
