31 Days of October, Day 31: Day of Spam!

It came from the 80's!

Remember that meme I filled out the other day? No? Well, I promised/threatened pictures of old costumes. Apparently after awhile either my parents stopped taking pictures or stopped getting them developed or I just never found/ran away with those particular pictures. No one knows!
Anyway, somehow in the last 24 hours I lost She-Ra but when I find her, I'll edit her in. She's terrifying though, so maybe it's best if you're spared...
Anyway, first costume was a Fluppy Dog, which if one can believe wikipedia on this, was probably my first taste of liking something the rest of the universe didn't. :P

The boy was Lion-O. Funny how the boy and I could handle masks but Widget? Three houses in, he's all "hold this" and no. Back in my day... *shakes cane at kids on her lawn*

And another shot, only with my cousin added. The skeleton in the background? I took him super seriously because he had "joints" and you could pose him. I think he survived the move here but his head ripped off eventually, y'know, because he was probably about as old as I was at the time.

Masks off for the neighbor across the street.

Not creepy at all, right?

Wearing a completely different outfit underneath the costume for actual trick-or-treating. The boy was Donald Duck, obviously. I loved Rainbow Brite, man. Loved. Her.

Completely not Halloween, but behold my cuteness! And the cousin is there again. Note her outfit, as there are several shots of me wearing it throughout the years. That shirt, it seems, was pretty popular.
Anyway, it was included because a) I'm adorable and b) pony! And also my first MLP. But mostly pony! Hi, Blossom!
As soon as Widget is off to school, I am off to carve my Frankie!lantern. And toast pumpkin seeds. Eee! I'm so excited! Or I would be if my hands weren't frozen solid!

Date: 2012-10-31 03:19 pm (UTC)And while I'm not familiar with the term Fluppy Dog, the costume looks familiar. I probably saw the show or had a stuffed one when I was little. Were you into Pound Puppies too? And MLP...how I LOVED them. I had SO many and then they all got sold in a garage sale and I've kicked myself ever since. There's about five now I can still remember that I want to reacquire, even if it means braving Ebay (Applejack and Gusty for sure, and about three or four more whose names I'll have to look up.)

Date: 2012-10-31 04:28 pm (UTC)Oooh, legit doctors stuff! You'd have been the envy of many a kid around here.
I included the wikipedia link for the Fluppies. I don't remember a thing about them beyond what they looked like and this costume. I did love the Pound Puppies. :D I had a friend who created a whole world for hers and she still does things with them.
MLP = love. I got sucked into looking at all the ponies from when I was a kid and trying to figure out which ones I had and which ones were added much later when Cass and I got the brilliant idea to totally recapture MLP love. (She moved out, PonyTopia still exists in my room.)
Gusty! ♥ She's so pretty, I love her. I don't think I ever had her other than the sleepy eyed baby. And Applejack! Who knew she'd be the one Hasbro managed to keep around all this time later?

I never had amazing/unique/creative costumes as a kid. I distinctly remember going as Kristy Thomas at least one year (turtleneck + jeans + running shoes + ponytail = YUS!), probably one of the last years I actually went trick or treating at all. Hmm...
