Cass has been waiting for months for Walgreens to get the SensatioNail kits in... and for a good sale since $59.99 is a little pricey for nail stuff, even if it's mostly the lamp you're paying for. This week the kits are $49.99 w/card, plus my discount, plus a $10 off a $35 purchase coupon, and a $5 coupon hiding in Cos meant she caved. (The polishes are $9.99 w/card plus there's a $2 coupon in the Nov coupon book and a $2 coupon in Cos making them about $4.50 for me.)

This means I spent the afternoon painting my nails. They're really glossy and smooth but Purple Orchid is seriously in need of better color representation on the box. The color on the box is dark and beautiful and in reality it is much, much lighter. Pics when I wake from my nap. Cass tried the magnetic silver one and seems to love it.

Pardon my paleness and crappy photo. It was 6am, which means this is after 12+ hours that included doing a few dishes, dealing with pets, sleep, hand washing, and the usual grind on one's nails. It's blurry as hell but it's a better representation of the color than the following.

This shows off the blue sparkles that are scattered throughout the polish, giving it a depth it needs to avoid being a flat grape color not all that unsimilar to the purple car my father drove for awhile. (Company car, he picked the purple one because I loved purple. It looked liked chewed grape gum. Not a spectacularly pretty color for a car.)

If I'd known this was the color it would end up, I probably would have picked another color, but you live. You learn. And it's very pretty when the light picks up the sparkles.

I've never, ever spent so long on my nails. I've also never tried so hard to be careful, which added to the time. The curing step (using the lamp) felt a lot like baking my nails and was a bit weird. Also weird seeing my nails turn funky colors under the light. :P

But now I feel like my nails could do all manner of tough chores, which is a nice feeling. Plus they're so smooth, it's like having worry stones right at my fingertips. I'll let you know how long they last. :)

Pretty! I agree - cremes (the flat colors) are pretty boring. A little shimmer goes a long way towards making a polish look interesting.

I like the idea of gel manicures, but I'm such a polish addict that it'd be a lot of work for little reward - as it is now I'm already tempted to change my polish more than once a week, and I don't exactly have the greatest cuticles in the world, LOL.

I think the only color I don't find blah when it's a creme (learning new lingo. yays!) is black. And then... it's black. :P

Hee, as soon as I got home I saw the various nail polishes I could not use and immediately wished I could. They're still super glossy and perfect, so that's a plus. :D
