Nov. 19th, 2012 02:41 amToday's plan of attack:
Get more caffeine in my system til I'm actually awake and not almost awake. Then? Then we clean the hell out of the living room. When that's done, I finish packing up
zallia's stuff.
Shower and a book roundup will commence after that. Then I must decide whether to try a fall/Thanksgiving themed nail choice or if I go for the pretty blue glittery polish I bought. Decisions!
Oh, and comments on The Saga will be after cleaning. (Normally they would be before but there is a method to my madness this once.)
Since I'll need my brain for those comments, we'll just natter about other stuffs til the Pepsi kicks in or I run out of time and have to clean half asleep. (Danger!) Yes, I have a time limit of the self imposed variety.
I'm still undecided as to what to do about McKenna. Her ebay prices haven't hit the "worth the hassle to ebay her" spot yet, and no, I'm not entirely sure what that price would be, but we aren't there yet.
The newest onslaught of MH stuff means I should begin buying the ones I missed from the summer glut. Self, that means:
Ghouls Rule: Clawdeen, Frankie, & Cleo
Dot Dead Gorgeous: Operetta, Spectra
Skull Shores 5 Pack
CaM: Witch/Catgirl, Ghost, and Puma.
Plush: Cleo & Abbey
and the JC Penney Draculaura.
But we're not buying unless there's a fabulous sale until after we see what AG is offering up for Cyber Monday. There's usually something I want and if I've saved my money, there's usually not a lot, so... I'm going to save my money otherwise you'll be subjected to the face of "noooooo!" all next week.
Oh, and I feel I should remind people that there's still a free shipping code for AG (KW54DC62EM) if you're going to go crazy and buy a doll or $100 worth of stuff. It expires tomorrow.
I'm still awaiting holiday wish lists, people!
Which means it's time to clean, I think. Wish me luck!

Date: 2012-11-19 06:02 pm (UTC)Actually I want a Sonali doll too - she's really cute. I think the day is coming when I'm going to have to get over my distaste/fear of Ebay...

Date: 2012-11-19 07:30 pm (UTC)Why the fear or lack of ebay love? Is it the site itself or the whole used stuff thing or something else entirely?
Sonali owns my soul. She does have a cute doppelganger in the MyAG line (#47) but she'd still have the same price issue. Also, different hair than Sonali.

Date: 2012-11-20 03:04 am (UTC)And...I think there's a bit of mistrust too. How do I really know that I'll get what I ordered? What if the pictures were misleading and the quality is not very good? What if the auction is fraudulent? At my last company (we sold high end love dolls) there were TONS of fraudulent listings that I had to police. I was constantly contacting Ebay to take down the auctions because they were using copyrighted photos and I knew for a fact that they weren't selling our stuff because RealDolls aren't mass produced. /tangent Anyway, given that history I just have a hard time believing that auctions for anything are legitimate.

Date: 2012-11-20 08:45 am (UTC)That said, AG dolls themselves have a bit more leeway on the "what if I win and she's awful?!" side. So long as she's got all her parts (and if she doesn't and it wasn't disclosed in the auction, ebay would have your back) she can be sent to the doll hospital. Which is why a lot of TLC dolls on ebay go for more than you would think they would. They'll replace any doll head if that's what you want, and if the new head doesn't match the old body, sometimes you wind up with a completely new doll. (This is why people who are attached to their dolls will pin a "do not replace me!" note to the body.) Cass sent her doll (#11) in when Destiny developed silver eye and looked super special and they sent her a brand new doll instead of just replacing the eyes.
On the other hand, they're also pretty easy to clean up. Cass also has a Bitty Baby we call Bitty of the Damned (silver eye, bubble eye, and was obviously prone to glitter binges in her past life) and she looked horrifying when she arrived (but this was all disclosed in the auction) but after a couple of days I'd tamed everything but the eyes and a couple of scuff marks which I gather could be fixed but I never remember to look for the proper stuff when I'm in an actual store that would sell it.
Very long story short: Ebay is a pain and I understand. If you want, I can keep an eye out on ones for you, just to see what they're going for. Just let me know who's calling your name. :)
Annnnnnd your job history is way more impressive than mine!
