Blue Christmas

Guess who put their tree up this morning?

I put up my tree. Which is not to be confused with the household tree. That's an entirely different kettle of fish. This is my blue tree I bought from Big Lots last year. I went in for a purple tree and somehow came out with a blue one. I really liked the blue on the box (which looks nothing like this) as I thought it would just be an absurdly tacky tree and maybe the first Christmas without Dad wouldn't be so bad with a tacky tree in the front room.

One problem with that plan. My tree is beautiful. Seriously, look at that. I'm in love. It's pretty and a little meloncholy, but I look at it and I'm happy.

The bulbs pretty much glow clear with a hint of blue-green.

I wasn't sure which ornaments to buy last year, but I picked up two birds from the Christmas Shop last year. This is one of them. (the blue one you can see in the other pictures was a gift from a co-worker.)
This year this bird's fluffy tail moves about in the breeze kicked up by the overhead fan. I'm wondering if Ozma is going to pounce. :P

I don't think I would love this as a huge tree, but as a small to medium tree, it's love. I put it up here so I could enjoy it more than I could having it in the front room. Also, if the boy does make good on his promise to get a real tree, I'm not sure where he'll want to put it, so I figured this way gave him a few options.
It still needs a topper, but maybe I'll make it to the Christmas Shop and I'll find something?
The only downside to this tree is that it makes me think of Belle. She enjoyed hopping up and sniffing it and I spent most of last Christmas worried she'd knock it over. I miss my kitty still. Forever.
