With the likely impending archival of the NOLA girls and the likely retirement of Ruthie and Ivy*, I've been reconsidering my AG plans. I'd originally planned on buying Isabelle's Studio because I am clearly insane. However, after careful consideration, I have begun to alter the plan.

I don't trust AG not to pull a #4 move and yank MG and then never use the mold again. I'd hoped they'd do another sale but I don't really feel like playing chicken on this and ebay is being really rude about MG. (No, you fools, I will NOT pay more than retail for a doll you paid $60 for. NO.)

So. I don't need two identical MGs, right? Right. Thus I need a doll whose wig I want to put on MG's cute little head. Preferably one who would look cute in an altered version of MG's wig because I only want to set fire to so much money, y'know?

This means all classic mold dolls are out. The MG mold that made me fall in love with MG at all is:

And this would be easy enough to recreate. Just get #53 and swap wigs. I could curl MG's wig and #53 would be pretty similar to Rebecca then only with looser curls and brown eyes.


I also considered swapping #28 and poof, instant longer haired not!Marisol.

But I think I'd prefer a blonde MG. *muse*

Soooo... I think I will make a very NOLA centric order shortly. MG, CeCe's parrot set, another set of the crinoline/chemise, MG's nightgown and this is where I get a little fuzzy. I could see if I'm brave enough to call and do this order over the phone and try to order Cecile's necklace. Or I could order the accessories and just rarely use the hat (but I do think it's cute) and never use the gloves because doll gloves usually look stupid. If I went the necklace only route, I'd throw in Ruthie's pajamas or the new blue dress for the MyAGs.

*- Of my not so small army, currently the only dolls still available from AG are ALL *probably* goners this year. D:


In other news, who knew getting my credit shredded by the car place (who then denied me anyway) would be an ongoing series of reasons to not look forward to the mail? I swear, at least once every four days I get something related to all the reasons they said no. Which would be bad enough the first three times, but now it's like they're just having everyone say no. WTF? I get it, you said no. It burns my biscuits because you lot are the same people who hand out cars to people who've had four cars repo'd in as many years but still.

Stop telling me all the reasons you said no. I got it the first four times.

With much praying and hoping I'm assuming. I haven't re-wigged an AG and I'm a little nervous. I rewigged a couple of Pullips and I'm hoping the fear of snapping their necks will be more nervewracking than the fear of ruining the AG wig in my attempt to coax it off the original doll's head.

Well if you do decide to pursue MG on Ebay let me know, as that's the first place I went to bid on all that one listing of her...so weird that for all those sales and supposed overstock they're not on ebay where you'd think people would snap them up at $50 and then try to flip them for retail or more, but I don't even see rip-off auctions on there!

Anyhow, so I'll try ebay for a bit, but when it looks like free shipping's running out, I'll just pony up for a new one. Just miffed that there's no longer the accessories discount to go along with it. I'm torn on the Crinoline since it seems like the kind of thing they may rename and rerelease since it's similar to Addy's hoop skirt. And I still want the stuff from my dummy cart I had originally planned on before all this panicking. And while I'm not worried Josefina will retire, I'm worried her outfits will or that oven and I've already spent too much and gotta wait for the next CC cycle [/hyperventilates]. Do not like this! And then I still need Ivy too on top of it. ;_;

But yes, I also worry about that mold never being seen again and wanting another to rewig...blerg I say. Blerg.

The accessories discount being gone pisses me the hell off each time I remember it. It nearly cost them a sale when Cass was in GA because she didn't remember/didn't know and hadn't budgeted for the accessories.


I've found a couple of handfuls of new MGs, but they're almost all set at BINs of like, $150. Fuck no, I'm not paying that when I can buy her new from the store for less. I wish ebay had an, "I'm offended by your price and a plague on your house" button for such things.

I'm torn on buying a second crinoline. I think it's actually sold pretty well for them as I don't remember it showing up on sales that weren't for the NOLA section across the board. On the other hand, they did away with doll underwear that's not modern and I'm not sure they feel like bringing it back. But if this one did well enough, maybe they'd do it for others and Addy would get hers back and that'd be pretty similar (or this one repackaged). But what if MG and CeCe want to be NOLA fancy at the same time? Poofy skirts for all!

As for Josefina's outfits, the plus side is that most of them pop up on ebay for retail now (or under) and she's been out for so long that her stuff also shows up regularly, so it's not like if outfit A goes poof, it'll be a complete bear to find.

Looks like the Rainbow Romper has made a return, so that, Kaya's LE outfit, Isabelle's Sparkle Skirt and Coral Sweater (and seeing that the skort is backordered til Jun, I'd waffled on it and would throw that in there too), the birthstone earrings and then I was going between Josefina's Feast outfit since that had high praise or the Summer outfit since everyone else's summer outfits are disappearing rapidly. But the other stuff is already over $100 and you're right in that they'd be the easiest to find on ebay sooner or later.

So you would recommend a crinoline? Since it's never seen, I wasn't sure if I wanted to pop on it for that reason, too, or not. Torn on the parrot lot as well...

I enjoy knowing I have the crinoline but my NOLA girls rarely stay in their outfits (CeCe will probably wear hers more than MG ever will) so they don't use it all that often. Also, it takes a little skill if memory serves and I'm not super skilled yet. BUT I would hate to try and chase that sucker down on ebay if I decided I wanted a second one for poofy goodness. Of course, when wearing said crinoline, the doll will need her own personal space bubble so that might factor in somehow?

I want the parrot simply so CeCe can call him her little pig. Because I'm that weird. (And she does it in the books!) Also, she'll be the parrot queen on TLAP day. Huzzah, Queen CeCe!

True, true. And do we hedge our bets that they retire when Summer hits only giving a few months or end of the year or just let stock deplete? I wish they'd just confirm stuff for us!

Geez, that crop top has been on backorder a LOT. I'm not sure whether to hope it's because, like you said, they didn't expect people to order it or if there's actually a market for it. o_O I can understand the legwarmers being on b/o because they're nifty but the crop top? Holy mother of dolls...

Oh man, you think it will be that soon? Granted I don't know how their seasons run, but I was thinking we'd have until at least June. Or is that when Sam's coming out? Because I do think that they'll announce or just shuffle off the old ones right before the Samantha release to make room for whatever that's going to entail in the catalogues and such. Weird that there haven't been any new leaks about what's coming with her despite that releasing being only a few months away. Ag, you're too good at keeping secrets!

I'm thinking Samantha is going to come out in August/September when they usually do their fall release, based on their "Samantha returns this fall!" campaign. Isabelle's movie will likely be July which means her new outfits will be in the end of May/June release.

So... yeah. I think they're gonna pull the plug on the NOLA girls in April or May. :/ Molly's archival started in June though, so maybe they'll wait a bit. But I'm planning for it to be announced in April or, at the latest, May.

That makes sense...I also wish I had a better grasp on *how* limited those historical sets are. Are they meant to last a month? The year? Will they make more if they're popular or is it like the Christmas one in that once it's gone, it's gone? I'd like to wait a few months down the line, but I don't know if that's a luxury that will be afforded with those. Buuuut, if they're stocking online and all the stores, it seems like they'd have a fairly good stock? Especially since they seem to have the reserves and that Kit's is the one that's most popular and will set the sell-out mark, maybe?

Well, you've got the one PS who said they were meant to last until summer. Whether that's end of summer or the start, I can't really see them going for just a month or two of sales when they could have at least twice that.

I wonder how much hinges on BF? Like, will they want them gone about the time BF launches or will they be part of that? If they're meant to be part of it, even if only temporarily, I'd imagine they'll last for awhile. If they're meant to be the last hurrah for the Historical line as we know it (sorta) then they'd be gone before then.

eeeyup and that MG I was bidding on is now past the retail price with 4 1/2 hours to go, so looks like buying her new will be the way to go. Maybe luck out and more "TLC" ones will show up down the line.

Geeeh, that thing is so hard to predict not knowing what it's going to be. They seem to be just clearing house on all the historical stuff, not just these potential retirees. So maybe the plan IS to just give them all one or two big sets of an outfit and set and cycle them out?

I wonder if it was the same MG I was watching. She's currently at $102 with $15 shipping so yeah, no. I'm gonna end up with a new one. I have no patience with ebay which is why you and Cass do so much better than I do. It's just a matter of whether or not I'll go crazy and order #53 at the same time. I'm oddly excited by the thought of lazy customs!

lol Yup, that was it! I would go the ebay route, if there were more options, but the ones starting low are few and far between. And I want to forgo the accessories, but...dolly jewelry! So gotta factor that in, too.

Are you getting #53 just for the wig? Have you looked around to see if you can find a third-party one for a decent price?

And #61 is still looming on the horizon, too. I may bite on Sam since I don't have an old one and if she's limited as well...

I thought I was getting 53 for the wig but right before the Ruthie/Ivypocalypse, I'd started thinking that much as I dig doll!Ruthie, she's not all that... Ruthie to me? So I was considering making a brown eyed Josefina mold and that pretty much leaves Julie or 53. I figure I'll swap 53's hair with MG's and after a careful pincurl removal and some curls, bam!

I'm honestly not sure which of the two I'm most looking forward to seeing being done. They'll both be super pretty if I don't bork up the wigs, I think.

61... damn you, 61. I can't wait for her though. I want to scalp her and... I dunno, use her hair for nefarious purposes.
