MG2 descends

Ugh. I'm still sick as hell so... I might not be making any sense.
But I need something to focus on until I can call work and tell them no, I will not be coming in to puke in their bathroom.
Last weekend I lurked on ebay to see if there were any less-than-retail Marie Grace dolls for grabs. I suspect most people are holding them for the NOLA-pocalypse since most of the dolls I found were either NIB and way over retail (which means way over what they paid for them) or... no, that was actually how most of them were.
I did find one non-MG identified doll and watched her. For science, you see.
And then it turns out I won her. Probably by a penny since it went up to my highest bid.
I'm sure I paid too much, but I had no interest in trying to sell her Meet outfit (and I'd want to keep the boots anyway, which would make selling the outfit impossible) and also, the idea of trying to unkink factory fresh braids was a little daunting.
So... I figure I didn't make out too badly since she was still under retail after shipping.
These are some of her ebay shots:

No real facial problems that I could see in the photo. Score!

From this shot it looks mostly like the parts that were braided are the parts that are super fluffy.

Nothing weird going on elsewhere.

Well damn, MG, why don't you try and be more adorable?

Perhaps I have made a grave miscalculation...
Only no, because my hair looks like this when I've been too sick to brush it out so, really, this is a case of it looks worse than it is.
I hope.
She arrived yesterday and I skipped to the mailbox.

Fresh from her box. She sure is... fluffy.

Please just wash off, please just wash off...

Very fluffy.
So off she went to the spa. Where I applied shampoo and washed it out (just in case) and then let her sit in conditioner for awhile. I also rubbed off the weird reddish mark on her forehead that the pictures didn't capture as well as the grime on her fingers and the spot on her ankle.

Looking better already, really.
After letting her marinate in conditioner for awhile, I grabbed a brush and comb and got to work. She shed a lot (sorry, MG!) and it took awhile because one has to worry about getting gunk in the eyes.

Still, after the tangles were shown the door, we were left with this.

I felt bad that she was going to lose her pincurls which somehow retained one good curl on each side but thems the breaks, kiddo.

Not bad, eh?
Next we broke out the flat-iron that I bought just for doll hair. I cranked it down to its lowest setting and waited for it to heat up. Then, with the hair still pretty damp, I went to work.

Horrible picture taken three seconds before the batteries died.

MG2's Cousin It impression is now ready for it's close up. Also, here you can sorta see the blonde streaks this MG has. Maybe?

Tadaaaaaa! I got it sleek without being pin-straight (never my goal) and I think it looks faaaaaaaabulous.
Now she's in curlers and awaiting her wig-swap partner.
