AG holiday preview
Oct. 7th, 2014 07:25 amThe dolly gods heard my prayers and decided to throw me a bone since work this week is going to be... special, at best. Pictures of the holiday catalog had already started to leak, not to mention the Hawaii store is open with some of the new stuff sooooo... they finally made good on their promise to sneak-peek the AG holiday stuff on their Pinterest .
Huzzah!
I'll edit this with more information come Thursday when they're officially up for grabs, but until then, let's look at all the shiny! And uh, spoiler, there's a lot of shiny and a fair amount of pink.
That said, we begin!
We start with, oddly enough, Bitty Twin.

Boy Bitty gets
Toy Soldier PJs
Item# BKH06 // $34
These toasty pajamas will make your little girl’s Bitty Twins® doll look like a Nutcracker prince! The set includes:
White pajama pants with a golden stripe down each side
A long-sleeved red top with golden embroidery on the front, sleeves, and neck
Black knit slippers with decorative stitching and light-brown soles to look like boots
A toy nutcracker that can be assembled like a stacking puzzle
The Bitty Twins’ Christmas Countdown activity book

Girl Bitty gets a
Ballerina Nightgown
Item# BKH08 // $34
This nightgown will make your little girl’s Bitty Twins® doll look like the star of The Nutcracker ballet! The set includes:
A pale-pink nightie featuring three-quarter sleeves with double puffs, an empire waist trimmed with a golden ribbon and bow, and a pretty ruffle at the hem
Matching golden satin slippers with crisscross straps to look like ballet shoes
A faux snow globe with a ballerina figure inside that spins at the touch of a button
The Bitty Twins’ Christmas Countdown activity book

And you can buy your girl the girl-sized nightgown, too.
Now, if I'd thought about it, after watching Isabelle's movie (crappily on youtube), I should have guessed they'd Nutcracker the Bitties up, but I didn't and we started with them because I adore the boy's outfit. So cute, gonna die, send help now. *ded*
Seriously, adorable. I wants. I may even buy for my BT or maybe Bitty of the Damned would wear it...
I'm not sure how I feel about the girl's outfit (not the Girl's as that's cute but bound to be overpriced and I only include them for cuteness) because it's on my least favorite BT and all I see is how much I dislike that doll. :P I do know I think the shoes look like crap, but I think I would snap this up on clearance. I do ponder how Cass feels about it, though.
Isabelle's collection gets one last hurrah in the form of

Isabelle's Fancy Jewelry Box ($44), a jewelry box for girls. Since there's nothing to make you realize this is a full size item, a lot of people thought it was just the same as Isabelle the doll's makeup case.
To Bitty Baby!

Little Leopard Snowsuit
Item# BKG94 // $28
She’ll love bundling up Bitty Baby in this sweet satiny snowsuit! It’s light-pink satin with a silvery Bitty Baby® logo star at the center of the chest, and the hood, feet, and mitten hems are trimmed in pink and gray faux leopard fur. The asymmetrical front zip is both comfy and stylish.
Is cute but I've never been big on animal print. Also, I live in the south and I see someone bundled up like this and I just about melt because you'd die dressed like that 'round here. (Why yes, I did just crank up my accent just for you.)

Frosty Ice Skating Outfit.
Item# BKH04 // $36
Bitty Baby will be all dressed up to go skating with your little girl! This set includes:
An icy-blue dress with a pointelle-knit bodice, a full mesh skirt, a shirred satin waist with a bow, and matching pink satin trim on the neckline
Cozy knit socks made to look like tiny pink skates with scalloped tops, satin bows, and felt skate blades on the bottoms
A matching blue pointelle-knit hat with a pink satin flower and embroidered circle on the side
I waaaaaaaaants but with the way BB crap has been price hiked, I fear for the price tag. But Hope or Grace or whichever one I own would look adorable in this. So cute! If it's not insanely priced, it'll find its way home, I think.
----
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge. $36 is just... no. Not until there's a sale, man. Not until. :(

Imagine & Play Tent
Item# BKG89 // $195
Give your little girl her very own whimsical hideaway where she can imagine and play! This play tent is made to match the charming illustrations of the Bitty Baby® picture books, and can fit Bitty Baby’s nursery furniture inside. It includes:
A colorful play tent with two mesh-screen windows, two interior storage pockets, and tie-back mesh curtains in the doorway
A round 1" thick nylon cushion for the floor
A carrying case the tent can fold into for easy under-bed storage
The one sort of "Surprise!" item of the overnight launch is sized for little girls and thus is not at all part of my radar, however I wanted to share.

Teal Tidings Dress
Item# BKG91 // $28
Bitty Baby will be as fluttery as a snowflake in this stretch-velvet dress, featuring a long-sleeved bodice, a mesh cascade ruffle skirt, and ruffle details at the neckline. The satin sash is accented with an embroidered snowflake on mesh ruffle layers. Includes a matching embroidered snowflake headband and glittery teal shoes with satin elastic straps.
(for dolls) is the Bitty holiday dress. This year marks a big departure from the usual Bitty/18" holiday fair. Usually the bitty dress is simply a younger version of one of the 18" dresses so that, presumably, if you had two girls, the younger one could be dressed just like big sister only... not quite. This year, Bitty strikes out on her own, and a lot of people seem to prefer her outing. Well played, Bitty. Well played.
I love teal, so I'm dying to see this reviewed.

For girls. You may also be ded of the cute now. Sorry!
Now we hop over to MyAG side with some horse stuff.

Western Plaid Outfitand Hat.
Item# BKH30 // $30
Her doll will be ready for a day at the fair in this outfit, including:
A pink plaid long-sleeved dress with a dropped waist, a fun two-tiered ruffled skirt, and a ruffled front placket with decorative rhinestone buttons
A light brown belt with a silvery slide buckle
Brown ankle boots wrapped with three different pink trims
A “Proud” heart charm
Y'know how every girl supposedly goes through a horse phase? I had mine, although I was more about the representation of a horse phase, like, say, buying doll stuff for horses or model horses. I had no real burning desire to ride them and certainly no desire to muck out stalls or anything. I did, however, enjoy the hell out of Hey, Dude! and this is giving me some serious Hey, Dude vibes for no real reason other than western horsey stuff always does.
I wants. Just in case that wasn't clear.
---
The outfit doesn't come with the hat but that's okay because hat storage is a right royal bitch and I'm content to love it just the same without the hat.

Pretty Pink Riding Outfitand Helmet
Item# BKH32 // $42
My American Girl® dolls can let their equestrian skills shine in this snappy outfit! It features:
A formal pink knit riding jacket with golden buttons, notched lapels, pocket flaps, and an embroidered star outline at the elbow
A sleeveless white collared shirt
Tan jersey pants with inner leg panels for comfort, just like real riding pants
Black vinyl riding boots with contrast stitching
A pink horse-print satin scarf
A “Smart” square charm
I think they've done better English stuff and they've also done worse, really. *shrug* It's a thing and I don't mind it, but I likely won't be seeking it out, either.
----
Upon closer inspection, I really liked this, pink aside. Liked it so much I'd put it on the "yes!" side and then I saw the price and said, and I quote, "Are you fucking kidding me?"
Much like I refused to buy the pretty 2-in-1 Skating Outfit for $48 because I feel Ag's getting greedy, I will refuse to pay full price for this either. As in IT has to be on sale, not just a free shipping deal. Bad, AG. No cookie for you.

Riding Helmet & Hat
Item# BKH34 // $24
Whatever her riding style, she needs the right headwear! This doll-sized set includes a western hat with pink faux-leather trim and a pink-and-black riding helmet with black straps.
Headgear is bundled much like Saige's last year. Thank you but I shall pass.

Saddle and Award Set // $38
Have you seen how much an AG horse goes for? I don't need accessories for a toy I'm never buying.

Prancing Horse & Saddle Set // $98
Clydesdale! Someone asked if the "white, furry things" on his legs are removable. Oh, honey... no. Also no to this (these, as that set is sold separately, remember?) because of both space and price. But welcome to the stables, love.

Skis & Helmet Set
Item# BKH26 // $42
It’s time for a ski trip with this sporty set! It includes:
Two-tone blue skis with fun doodle prints on the top, plus dark-pink boot clips
A matching helmet with a doodle print and a chin strap
Ski poles with grips that dolls can really hold
White-and-pink boots
Doll-sized ski goggles
I would only want these if I had the "so your doll broke her leg" medical thing, too. Because that's a set up I can get behind. But it's a thing and it's not awful but I've also never been skiing so who knows.
---
Someone pointed out that these are nearly identical to the last ski-set accessories, but those were $38 and I thought they were high then so these? Yeah, AG, I guess you didn't learn a damn thing from the Bitty fiasco, did you?

Hit the Slopes Outfit
Item# BKH24 // $34
For the girl who adores sharing winter fun with her doll! This outfit includes:
A white nylon doll jacket with pink toggle buttons and colorful contrasting prints on the body, hood, and sleeves
Heavy knit pink pants
A matching pull-on pink knit headband
Pink knit mittens with elastic wrists
A “Strong” square charm
That's.. a lot of pink, really. I don't hate it, although I'm not a huge fan of the AGs being plastered all over the sleeves. I'll be curious to see what the price point is on this and whether people will bite or if this will wind up like the pinwheel thing last year.
---
$34 isn't awful for this, honestly. Not with their recent pricing, anyway.

Fair Isle Pajamas
Item# BKH19 // $24
My American Girl® dolls will float like snowflakes to dreamland in these bright PJ’s, including:
A long-sleeved pink thermal-knit top with silvery snowflake accents and sparkly snowflake embroidery around the neckline, plus a placket at the center with three decorative buttons
Cozy pants with an elastic waist and a playful pink striped print with alternating snowflakes
A matching terry hairband
Pink slippers topped with pink faux fur
A “Confident” heart charm
These are the holiday PJs which means if you want them, you buy them as there's no guarantee they'll be around for long. Some years they linger forever and some years they sell out before November is through. That's also a LOT of eye-searing pink, but it's still cute. I'm considering.
---
Those pink boots are giving me Suzanne Sugarbaker vibes. Probably because she had black boots like that for one of their episodes, I think.

For girls.

Sparkly Skating Set
Item# BKH28 // $44
Watch her imagination twirl and fly with this set! It features:
An ice-blue figure-skating leotard with a chiffon skirt and silvery print at the midsection, plus an attached brooch
A shrug with sheer sleeves, rhinestones, and a row of silver sequins at the top of the bodice
A pair of white skates with silvery laces and a silvery foil print at the ankle
Two skate guards
A purple star-shaped barrette hair accessory
A round “Strong” charm
Or, as everyone is calling it: Elsa On Ice! I love that shade of blue but traditionally their skating sets tend to be a bit on the spendy side so... we'll see. Also, I think I've got skates, man. But I'm looking forward to other pictures and reviews on this sucker.
----
AG, you must be outta your damn mind with that price. No sir, no ma'am, no thank you.

Winter White Outfit for Dolls.
Item# BKH44 // $38
Her doll will be ready for wintry adventures in this layered outfit! It features:
A long-sleeved jersey tee with faux-fur cuffs at the wrists
A thick faux-fur vest with two satin ribbon ties at the side and a flower corsage
Comfy jersey leggings with an elastic waistband
Cable-knit shorts with a knit-rib waistband and sequins on the lower left hem
White boots with faux-fur cuffs
A square “Brave” charm
Best summed up as an outfit you'd see on a Disney Channel villain. It really, really is and I really kind of love that. This is just so insanely over the top and combines some of the most WTF moments from their past all white ensembles that I can't say no til I know the price. Seriously, it's just insane. Cable knit shorts! Come on!
-----
$38 is a bit pricey but if there's a sale... and unlike anything over $40, it doesn't have to be on this outfit... free shipping would work... I shouldn't love this as much as I do, but God help me, I do.

For girls, it seems to become a dress instead of shorts. Why is this not an option for the doll... :P
--
Oh, it's a skirt. So... even more baffling as to why we have shorts for the doll. o_O I do wish the doll size shirt also had the snowflake design but hey. You win some, you lose some in the baffling world of snowball outfits.

Sparkly Black Flats.
Bets on the price? I'm thinking $14 but I'd happily be wrong if they're cheaper.
--
They're $14. Nailed that one, at least.

Silver Shimmer Dress
Item# BKH75 // $36
’Tis the season for dolls to sparkle in this outfit! It includes:
A silvery sequined dress, featuring satin ribbon straps with a bow on the left shoulder and a fluttery four-tiered chiffon skirt with a shiny foil print on the border of each layer
A satin-covered headband with a glittery silver bow on one side
Silvery glitter shoes with bows
A square “Confident” charm
This sucker is going to be $36 at least (the holiday dresses always are) and it seems so very skimpy and this is also the BEST I've seen this thing look. In the other pictures out there (Hawaii's store shots and the catalog snap) this looks like an 18" doll wearing a bitty dress. Sadly, I like this shot enough that I've put the dress back on my maybe pile.
-----
I do dig those shoes...

For girls. Also, this girl has so aged out of AG let's not even pretend otherwise, k? And yes, people are flipping their shit over the length of the dress. Tights, mama bears. Tights.

Happy Holiday Dress.
Item# BKH55 // $36
Her doll will light up the prettiest parties in this sparkly, twirl-worthy outfit. It features:
A deep-blue sleeveless dress covered in sequins with an asymmetrical overskirt, a triple-layered dark-blue tulle underskirt that peeks through, and a satin-ribbon waistband accented by an off-center bow and rhinestone
A pair of sparkly navy-blue shoes with silver ribbon bows
A satin-covered headband with two rows of sequin trim
A round “Smart” charm
Um, I'm sorry, did I wander into bizarro world? It's AG holiday time and not a red dress to be found? HALLELUJAH. Also, I want this and may be buying it ASAP. As in, if this were already for sale, I'd have bought it already. *cough*
---
The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on this yet is because I'm hoping they'll do a free shipping code soon so I can save a little. A very little, actually, if it's a $100 minimum. It's $2.95... I'm really not sure how long I can hold out.

For girls. You'll notice that the Girl shots show dolls who ain't white, but the main product stuff? Not so much.

Holiday Accessories
Item# BKH46 // $32
Girls can help their dolls get ready for some sweet festivities with this set! It includes:
A doll-sized faux-fur wrap in navy blue and black, with deep-blue sequined cap sleeves
A sparkly rhinestone bracelet
A 2014 ornament with silver glitter inside, a snowflake printed on the outside, and a deep-blue ribbon bow on top that My American Girl® dolls can hold
A red foil box with a silver bow on top and pretend chocolates inside
This proves that the blue dress is the main dress this year. The shrug gives you sleeves for the dress but with the horrid addition of fur. I want that ornament and that bracelet so... we'll see how bad this thing is, price wise.
--
Ouch. That's higher than usual and that vest is not helped by close-ups. :/ (Also, that box is totally pink not red!)
And finally, because every holiday needs a WTF moment:

Pretty City Carriageand Prancing Horse.
Rumors start this sucker, not including the horse, at $275. People are already dusting off their credit cards. If I had the space and the money, well... I'd have to have a LOT of both, truthfully.

In actuality we have this write-up:
Pretty City Carriage
Item# BKH68 // $275
Let her imagination dash through the snow! This beautiful carriage set includes:
A cream-colored carriage that fits two 18" dolls side by side, featuring silvery foil trim, a functional folding canopy, a tufted seat cushion, a decorative cord on the front, two lamps on the sides that really light up, and four wheels really turn
Two detachable carriage poles with silvery jingle bells
A harness and bridle that fit My American Girl® horses, plus matching reins
A raspberry-colored harness pad
A cream-colored lap blanket for dolls
Three pieces of festive sheet music
Two mugs of faux hot chocolate
It's beautiful and it's bound to sell probably better than they hoped since everyone was ready for it to be $300+. I love that it includes hot chocolate and a blanket, not to mention the lamps. It's so damn pretty and I'm so not rich enough to live in a house where this would be a proper display. Not to mention, y'know, a complete lack of money on my part. Still, I hope someone buys it and takes a shit load of pictures.
Tadaaaaaaaaa.
I actually liked a lot more of it than I thought I would and while I may not be buying a lot (I might), I'm looking forward to seeing more shots of these.
They go up for sale 10/9. :)
Huzzah!

Ouch. That's higher than usual and that vest is not helped by close-ups. :/ (Also, that box is totally pink not red!)
And finally, because every holiday needs a WTF moment:

Pretty City Carriage
