Mini review
Sep. 28th, 2015 02:44 pmFirst up: the sun was out for about five minutes today and I missed it, so these were taken in my living room. The lighting in here is... special and it doesn't help that the guy next door is having work done to his townhouse and they're being so loud that I want to cry.
Anyway,
irishgypsie requested Ruthie in Me's Poodle Skirt and I obliged. This will be a mini review, but it's in no way thorough.

Ruthie wears this rather well, I think. She doesn't exactly manage to pull off the scarf/ribbon though, which is a shame, but she might if one brushed out her curls.

I tried it but it looked ridiculous on her very tiny ponytail, so she held the scarf for a minute. I don't really get how to get them to work, but I assume this is user error, but I can't imagine that a lot of kids aren't also going to have the same initial problem so... this is where those little information cards used to come in handy.

I love that the dolls can hold the skirt out to show off the poodle. This is clearly not shown over a crinoline (haven't bought that yet) but the skirt is still fun to play with. I like the feel of the shirt, though the colr in person is a little more coral than the pink it photographs.
The only thing I remember hearing about this as soon as it debuted were complains about the shoes. And holy geez, if anything those people undersold the problems. The tongues of the shoes are way too small and will slide down into the shoe even before you do anything crazy like try and put it on. The socks just complicate matters (they're really thick) and basically you start swearing. Some shoes you can just slip on but these require skill and you to be able to tie the laces because you can't just skip that step.

Other than the shoes and the size of the scarf, nothing about this set feels chintzy, so I can definitely say I recommend it even without a sale.
