Okay. I need some advice and it's time sensitive so here goes.

Tomorrow is Cass and Matt's anniversary party. I do not have to work tomorrow night. She knows this now, btw. They've been... upset with one another lately. I don't know a lot of her friends (I know two/three well enough to talk to them and make conversation and not feel 100% awkward) and I don't know if Ari will be going or just D and her grandmother.

I've never actually made it to one of their parties because they always, always, always schedule them for Saturdays and I always, always, always have to work Saturdays. The only reason I have tomorrow off is because immediately after putting in for my time off for next week, a note went up saying no requests for time off from Nov 1- Jan 2 would be approved. I did the math and realized I'd have another day's worth of time before the ban went up, so I put in for it because why not.

I dunno if I want to go. I like frogmore stew, but it's a crapshoot how the batch will come out and I'm a bit worried I'm coming down with something because who DOESN'T want to start their vacation out sick?

But I... dunno. If nothing else, I'd have done something on my vacation. But that feels like a lousy reason to go. (Oh, and apparently the kid who I'm frequently left with just went through her second lice scare, so that's another reason I'm leaning towards no. Do you know how hard it is just to shampoo my hair here, let alone have to do a lice treatment?)

Also, not sure how I'd be getting back... or possibly there. I suspect I might con one of the people I know, or D, into a ride but I don't know for sure.

So talk me into or out of it.

Aaah, that's a hard one. I would say since you haven't been to many (any?) of the others that you might as well try to go to this one, even for a short appearance, just to put in the face time. Buuut, the ride thing sounds risky. But you can always leave early with the excuse "yeah, I feel like I'm coming down with something..." and everyone will immediately either be sympathetic or want your cooties out of there. Ah and are you the random kid magnet at parties, too? It's not even like we try.... -_-

I had to look up that stew, damn it looks good. Is it at a restaurant then? That would be good for at least a good start/end to the proceedings and not being too left out at least since everyone has the same discractions.

Yup. When Widget had his day of work at their house (which turned out to be like, less than two hours. What kind of exhaustion is that? None, none I say!) the kidlet appeared and despite me mouthing, "Save me!" to Widget AND Cass, nothin'. Every single time I've seen this kid, she gloms onto me and won't let go. Which is fine, in moderation, but when everyone else is doing the avoid, it's less like I've been invited to hang out and more like "kid sitter I don't have to pay. Sweet." Someone else who feels my pain! I wonder if kids can sense people who collect toys and that sets them off... *muse*

Nope, the party is at their house and they'll be making the stew there. Originally it was supposed to be their oyster roast but with the floods at the start of the month, they decided maybe it was best to avoid food that may or may not have been sitting in filth. Also, I don't like oysters (don't tell the South, they'll kick me out) so that's not really a lure for me.

If it weren't in North Charleston, I'd just have Mums snag me halfway through but that exit is particularly nasty at night and this thing doesn't start til six. Woes.

Eyup! I have posited that it's probably because I'm more "on their level" and they somehow sense that, since I will end up getting on the floor to play with them or talk about Monster High and such. >_> Though even the smaller ones that are less verbal will follow me around...or put pens in their mouths that they then put in mine...I guess we should take it as a compliment that we're not stuffy adults who just look right through them?

Yeah, that seems like a lot of stuff stacked up against going...

I'm letting the universe decide! If either of the people I think are likely to give me a ride offer, I will be obligated to say yes. If they don't, I'm staying home and watching The Worst Witch. :D

I... have never gotten the pen thing. I do get them putting fingers in their mouths and then touching my face or immediately wanting to hold hands or something, but I think the pen thing is worse. o_O

Woo for not being a stuffy adult! In your face, adulthood!

I'm no help re:party, because I get twitchy if I have to spend more than twenty minutes in a group setting.

BUT

Tea tree oil. Crap is a miracle worker when it comes to detering lice. Just put some in your shampoo and conditioner and you shouldn't have a problem. Downside is it does make color fade.
