Today can take a long walk off a short pier.

First was work: new girl tells me very excitedly that the store manager told her that pay was going up to $9 as base pay. Which should, in theory, bump everyone up.

Yeah, no. He gave us all the news this morning (she'd apparently seen him the other day) and it was basically, if you make less than $9, come March 1 you'll get bumped up to that. If you already make more than that, you're freakin' hosed. Come eval time, you have to make a 3.7 to get a raise, which means all exceeds or outstandings. Do you know what they don't give? Outstandings.

I looked online just to see and it seems that if you made a 3.7 on your last eval, you'll get a 3% raise come March 1, but otherwise basically you're hosed. I think I made a 3.6 last go round. Screw it, man. I'm rating myself Out-freakin'-standing on everything and they can try and mark me down if they want, but I'll be damned if I'm working for barely more than what the newbies are making. Eff that noise. I'm forever cleaning up after them and I don't bitch too much about it but if you're making basically what I am and I've been there for-freakin'-ever, then you can do the same damn work or I get paid more.

Sigh. The kicker is that come eval time, all the newbies will be up for another raise. Are you kidding me?




Then... then we have the current AG debacle. There's the codes on catalogs floating around and I rarely ever get a catalog, let alone one with a code (Mom got one. Once. In 2007) so... meh, but not rage inducing.

Nope, the rage kicked in when apparently codes were sent out starting yesterday and because their IT department is a bunch of idiots, you could stack things so people managed to rack up 75% off. Not sure if the free shipping stacked too, but in any case, they also sent out codes for 20/25/30% off. Guess who hasn't gotten even a 20% off email? This is me. Sulking hardcore.

I hate their switch to single use codes. I hate it. It's made things more difficult all the way around and the sales never, ever work out in my favor. Meanwhile other people are running away with the store and get away with it. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen when they'd do universal codes. Yeah, maybe everyone and their hamster would order repeatedly, but guess what? They'd have to hit a certain price point to use the code so they were actually spending way more than they would have if they could only make ONE order.

Soooooo... yeah. Today is just not my day.

And in a stunning turn of events, my mail included a catalog with a code. I mean, it seems to think it's my birthday or something but I'm not complaining!

Damn, just saw this and tried stacking my codes, but it just takes off the highest one even though it says both are added. :( That would have been quite the shopping spree. Stupid internet being down at work!

Boo, AG IT department. Boo. And it's always the same people taking advantage of the sales and then pretending to not understand why no one wants to hear them cry about having too much stuff later on. Did it let you stack free shipping and your highest code?

Yeah, I feel you on the whole getting-hosed-on-pay thing. My workplace has instated a new minimum wage, and basically everybody's getting bumped up to that...all the way up until ~$1.50/hr less than what I currently I make. So I will not benefit from this. Me, who works 50 hrs/week at two jobs because I don't get paid enough to only work one. Why can't all us peons get the raise, dammit? WE'RE ALL PEONS ON THE SAME TIME SCHEDULE (hourly vs salaried).

This is, of course, after finally getting a freaking merit raise after 4 years of nothing. Everyone absolutely BLASTED them on the employee engagement survey about lack of raises for so many years, so at least it proves that they do read those things, LOL.

Congrats on the catalog with the code! I guess they gave up on me after I didn't order anything from them at all after the last one they sent me :P
