I braved the Walmart near the house to see if they had the MH minis. I saw an empty rack that I think might hold the boxes if I'm remembering the display from Tumblr right, but it was completely empty so I don't know for sure. I even tried up front with the other little mini things. Sigh. Failure.

I did pick up two of the Megablok ghouls: Toralei and Twyla. All the Cleos were aggressively wonky. I also snagged a Civil War keychain. I wound up with Cap and Mom claimed him. (Also: bad, Marvel. Bad. I hope everyone who okayed the current shitstorm chokes on a LEGO.)

Not sure if I'm going to try and brave the one near work on Monday. On the one hand, I like to avoid stores on holidays because it's one less person buying stuff and if more people didn't go out on holidays to stores/places that need not be open, well, then they wouldn't be open. On the other hand, I want those minis.

Today the tropical whatever is busy rolling on through so it's rain city. Mom overslept so I didn't leave work til 40 minutes after I clocked out (of course) and then we swung by the kittens. I got pictures with the camera so look forward to that tomorrow or Tuesday. I'd do it today, but because I was still there half an hour after my shift ended, they had time to ask if I'd work earlier tonight and I agreed because a) I like getting off at 6am b) I'm trying to say yes to any scheduling changes I can say yes to so they'll remember how often I said "sure" when it comes to my needing time off in July c) I had no real reason to say no beyond "man, that last hour of sleep is amazing. No." :P

I've missed most of the actual explanation but what I've seen is that apparently Cap is an agent of Hydra and has been all along? WTF?? Can you clarify because I am so lost on this whole concept.

So the new mini figures aren't the Mega Bloks ones? I'm so behind, do you have a link? Since I've still got your monster box, I can take a look around for you. I've seen the Mega Blok ones at WM, but didn't know to look for anything else. Also...since it's this late now already, any birthday wishes you can think of?

That's about all we know at this point but this gives a better run down than I could. Throw in some author behaving badly when people point out that this was a very bad idea for numerous reasons and, well... it's not making me actually want to read this mess.

Monster High Minis! or boxed pics, too. Apparently Mattel sent people goodie bags of things and those minis are in bags but that might just be a special thing. Also, they're apparently hitting Walmart first and exclusive to them for a little bit. No idea how long, though. Figures. I finally caved and pre-ordered a box online and it's probably going to take forever to arrive because of this exclusive nonsense. Also, I clearly have no willpower because I will be hunting them down anyway.

If you find a Fangtastic Fitness Catrine floating around, or hell freezes and you find a Geek Shriek Ghoulia, either would be love. Apparently my Big Lots decided that they'd just cut waaaaaaaaay back on MH. Woes.

Hrm, I think BL had Catrine at one time, but I'm not sure I've seen her there recently. I know Lagoon still was, so I'll take a look. And not sure I ever saw Ghoula at all, but I will do my best for you! Just cause they're not in town doesn't mean anything! Well, aside from wonkiness checks.

Aaaah, those are cute! I had no idea they existed. Argh and those are the bad kind, too. Because while they might go with toys, they might also put them in those rando areas with Magic cards and keychains and other blind boxes that seems to vary wildly from store to store.

All the displays I've seen appear on Tumblr have been in the toy section so far, and the empty rack I saw looks like it would hold those long/tall boxes that have shown up in all the "look what I found!" posts. But yeah, I double checked the Magic/BB section up front, too. Which is a pain because I always feel like someone's gonna scream "shoplifter!" because it's behind a register. :p

I've been dying for these to get released and they were the one thing, aside from one of the reboot Lalas, I was sure I would love no matter what. So naturally... Walmart.

I never saw any of the second wave of Geek Shrieks. My BL still had most of W1 but never W2. I wish you better luck, madam! Did you have a good birthday? Do I need to kick kneecaps for you? Or send kitteny hugs?

I did leave a report in the birthday post, but rest assured it was a very "Amanda" birthday. :p This time emotionally exhausting as opposed to last year's physically exhausting.

Hey, ours, too! That or it's the weird dank corner line with all kinds of weirdos I have to squeeze between to look, and more often than not, I just forget to go look at it cause I'm just eager to get out.

Whoa, I don't even remember that Gigi and Catty, so I'm pretty sure that wave never saw the light of day here, either. Same with those kmart locker ones I forgot about until your post. What's with this stupid distribution set up??

Thanks, that definitely helped. I've never been a big comic book fan but I have enjoyed most of the recent Marvel movies. I guess this is the publishing world's version of clickbait...seriously distasteful. Whoever greenlighted this idea needs to receive sensitivity training at the very least. :(

Comics are notorious for fake-outs. Like when Captain America died a few years back. You knew it was going to be undone, somehow, given enough time because it always is but at the same time, you have to be interested in the story they want to tell in the meantime. This particular story is not worth the damage they've done.

A much less important version of this is why I mostly stopped reading comics for the most part. I used to be a pretty big X-men dork and y'know, every year or so they'd cycle through writers and I'll be damned if every time they did, my favorites would either be brought back to life/the team (huzzah!) or killed at the first chance, even if it didn't serve the story in any way. It was exhausting and annoying when the writers would handwave away the previous storyline(s) and just do whatever they wanted, fans be damned.

Sure, sometimes it works, but sometimes all you're doing is telling me why bother getting invested in anything.

All that said, this round of fuckery is just not a good look, and the writer is being a dick so that's not helping.

Heh, I feel you on the dank corner. By the time I'm up front, all I want is out. I think the one by work has all their stuff in a weird spot but I don't remember where. I just know it's impossible to get to without looking like you're trying to steal something.

Mattel very clearly doesn't want our money. That's the only thing I can think of for their distribution weirdness. One of these days I'll remember to check Tuesday Morning again.
