AG Fall Release, part 1.
Aug. 25th, 2016 10:52 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
New Stuff at AG time. Alas, Thursdays are always the day I'm exhausted so we'll be splitting this into at least two chunks. Today I bring you the Wellie Wishers and the Beforever goodies (excluding Melody).
We begin with the Wellies.
Wellie Wishers

Winter Friends Skating Outfit // $28

Item# DRN00
The WellieWishers can’t wait to go ice-skating together and help each other learn new slides and spins for their show! Includes:
A quilted pink taffeta jacket featuring a knotted belt and the WellieWishers logo
Sky-blue snow pants with embroidered snowflakes down both sides
A fuzzy white headband
Warm and fluffy white mittens with embroidered bunny faces on the tops
White skates with painted pink laces
Okay, this is pretty cute though... am I missing something or is there no shirt for this? o_O

Winter Wishes Outfit // $28

Item#DRM99
The WellieWishers can dress up for snowy shows in this dazzling outfit! Includes:
A lined faux-fur cape with an embroidered snowflake pattern along the edges
A sparkling tiara
A glittery blue dress
Pretty shoes with fuzzy tufts on top
I'm having flashbacks to the first store exclusive a few years back and its Elsa-ness. I like the cape for this and I kinda like the tiara but I'll need to see the dress on a doll without the cape to fully appreciate things.

Winter Woods Stage Accessories // $20
Item#DRK39

t’s time for a play, and the WellieWishers are excited to perform! Set the Garden Theater Stage with these accessories:
A white tri-fold backdrop with a winter-day scene for perfect snowy play
Three paper cutout props, featuring a silly upside-down snowman, wintry trees, and a shining skating pond
Three adorable felt animal puppets, perfectly sized for your girl’s fingers or a WellieWishers doll’s hands
This is an accessory set for their stage, but I like that they're not bringing out another huge thing but are making updates for it.
The books are saying they're available but they're 404-ing. Woe. Also, not sure on the books due to the glitch, but the other WW stuff is also Free Shipping, just like the June Wellie goodies.
There's also a carriage for them, if that's your thing. It's $48 and honestly, I'm surprised it's that little. It seems like AG has a pretty set price point for the Wellies and I like that.
And now
BeForever (not including Melody)

Rebecca's Menorah & Dreidel Set // $36
Item#DRK95
Hanukkah is Rebecca’s favorite time of the year, and she dreams of the honor of lighting her family’s treasured menorah during the Festival of Lights. This set includes:
A menorah with nine pretend candles, one for each of the eight days of Hanukkah and one to light them with
A metal dreidel, a toy that Jewish girls have loved for centuries—it really spins!
A set of shiny pretend coins, called gelt, that can be won in the dreidel game
Did hell freeze? Because AG's still calling the accompanying dress her "holiday outfit" but they're actually remembering Rebecca's Jewish? Huh. I am... confused. But happy about it.

Julie's New Year's Eve Outfit // $32
Item#DRK68

Julie rings in the New Year in style with this groovy outfit she chose from her mom’s shop. It includes:
A long flower-patterned top with puff sleeves, crochet trim down the center, and a stylish opening at the front
A pair of matching flower-patterned shorts and pale-purple tights
A hip pair of purple velvet platform shoes, the height of ’70s fashion!
Look. I missed out on Julie's go-go boots. I ain't missing out on the purple pimp shoes. All I need is a sale. Also, I don't want to gouge my eyes out when looking at the rest of the getup, so that's progress for me and the 70's, right?

Josefina's Navidad Outfit // $34
Item#DRK67

When Tía Dolores gives Josefina a gift of elegant fabric, she chooses a stylish dress pattern and sews every stitch herself! Celebrate her town’s most blessed holiday, Navidad (Christmas) with this special outfit that features:
An empire-waist dress with pretty ribbon details on the sleeves and bodice
White stockings and black shoes
A fine lace mantilla, a veil held in place by a fancy comb
I still feel like they took her previous Christmas dress and just dyed it, even though I know there are differences. That said, this is still stunning and not for the first time today, I'm gonna say that if they'd done free shipping on all (or most) of their new stuff, I'd be buying this today. But they didn't, so I admire from afar.
Also, yay for Josefina finally getting some stuff. :D

Josefina's Festival Outfit // $32
Item#DRK66

Josefina celebrates the joys of the harvest festival in this colorful outfit. The harvest was an important part of life in New Mexico and was a time of bounty and gratitude. Her outfit includes:
A white blouse with intricate embroidery
A vibrantly patterned skirt with a wide red belt
A satin shawl
Over-the-knee stockings
Pale-pink shoes with bows
There are a LOT of colors going on here and I don't know how I feel about it. I keep thinking that I'd like it more if the green shawl weren't there, but then the shoes would seem even more out of place. But Harvest and today's the first kinda cool day and I'm all "eee!" over anything Harvest so, really, AG. I'd have bought first, asked questions later if there'd been free shipping. But no. (Still yay for Josefina!)

Maryellen's Refrigerator & Food Set // $150
Item#DRK93

Food in the 1950s was starting to become faster in the form of cans, casseroles, and frozen dinners, which meant more time for families like Maryellen’s to spend together, or even watch TV while they ate! Fully stocked with pretend food that Maryellen would have loved to eat, this retro fridge gives a peek at what was on the menu in the 1950s. This 26-piece set includes:
A perfectly pink retro fridge with a door that opens to reveal a freezer on top with an extra door, drawers, shelves, and a butter holder
Two TV tables that work like the real thing and fold for storage, with a fun ’50s pattern and a stand to hold them
An ice cube tray with ice cubes that lift slightly at the touch of a handle
Three frozen TV dinners with beef, chicken, and pasta that come out of their boxes
Two bottles of milk
Four bottles of soda
A casserole dish with a meal inside
A fancy plate of gelatin
A cooked ham with all the trimmings
Jars of relish, jam, mustard, and jelly
Four sticks of butter
A frozen treat that dolls can really hold
First, take a moment to watch the video on the page. I'll wait. Notice how often the girls in the video try to take the eggs off the door because they want to play with them. Annnnnnnd they're denied every time. That's what I call a design flaw. I get that they don't wanna get sued when Lola's little sister chokes on a toy egg but still. This fridge would be so much more awesome if you could actually play with ALL the things and not just some. That aside, I think this is cute. The food looks a little gross, but that actually seems to work for the 50's sometimes.
I also like that AG is finally realizing that if they cross promote things, they'll spark more sales and ideas. (The video explains that the fridge was designed to fit in with the new TM kitchen that also debuted today.)
Will I buy it? Not likely due to space issues, but I look forward to other people's pictures.

Maryellen's Strawberry Outfit // $28
Item#DRK69

Maryellen’s sweet strawberry dress was made for playing in the Florida sun! The strawberry-print wrap dress features colorful contrast binding along the edges. Includes matching bloomers, a green headband, and ankle-strap shoes with cute cutout details.
Enh. It's like Kit's bunny playoutfit for me in that I can see cuteness potential but I'm just underwhelmed.

Maryellen's Christmas Party Outfit // $38
Item#DRK70

Maryellen dreams of creating the perfect Christmas, just like the ones she sees on TV! The red sateen polka-dot dress with a double taffeta bow at the waist embodies the bright holiday spirit, while a fuzzy white cropped jacket reminds her of snowflakes. Her outfit includes a pair of tights and shiny Mary Jane shoes.
I like this better when I don't examine it too closely. I'm dying to see it in person or in photos that aren't stock photos and bonus points if it's not on a redhead or that strawberry blonde AG tries to pass off as red. (You're cute, Ellie, but I don't want to want you. Just your stuff is dangerous enough.)

Maryellen's Party Punch Set // $44
Item#DRK91
In Maryellen’s time, serving punch (often, 7-Up mixed with fruit punch) at a party was very popular! This festive set includes:
A pretend candle that really lights up
A decorative green bowl and two glasses for serving punch
A pretend bottle of 7-Up
A holiday deer with a working bell and a candy dish featuring a pixie elf for decoration
Take my money, demonic deer! This is just so strange and weird and ... I don't have words, really. It's reminding me of the unusual things you could find in my attic when I was growing up.
Free shipping, AG, and I'd have been sold on this already.

Maryellen's Holiday Cookie Set // $38
Item#DRK92

In this festive set, Maryellen can practice her baking skills and share fun treats with her family and friends! It includes:
A set of cookie cutters that fit into a special box
A set of pretend decorated cookies
A pretend glass of milk
A merry apron to keep her dress clean
A bright holiday-themed tray for serving the cookies
I will be buying this. I want EVERYTHING. This is quite possibly my favorite thing of Maryellen's. Judge away.
That apron will be miiiiiiiiiine.
Sorry if this is a little disjointed but I'm kinda falling asleep while still being really excited for the new shinies. It's very weird, honestly.
I will say that I'm a little disappointed in the holiday dresses this year. Neither really seems holiday special enough. The "Magenta" one is a pretty party dress, but I always felt like that when done properly, the holiday dresses were somehow more special. Probably because they usually are. This year, however, I had to really debate whether I even consider the second holiday outfit to be a holiday outfit. (The gold sparkly number is meant to be it, in case you too were lost.) I think that if I'm going to scratch the holiday dress itch, I'll need to jump on Maryellen's and Melody's outfits this year. Not!Josefina and Not!Emily are both quite lovely and I quite like a lot of the Bitty offerings.
Now. I'm going to go admire the shinies and fall asleep. Thoughts? Opinions? Or are you holding out til part two happens? (Melody, I swear, we're gonna chat. Tomorrow.)

AG, if I only remember one thing from Me's books, it is this: her family's tree is pink. It's fucking pink and it's a big reason why she's all "woe, I would like a traditional Christmas where the tree ain't pink because that's just not how Christmas is supposed to be!" You could, I suppose, argue that this is the tree she and her grandparents bring back from Georgia, but really... you could've (and should've) done a pink tree.
We begin with the Wellies.

Date: 2016-08-25 04:29 pm (UTC)Julie's outfit is reasonably priced and will be mine, but I can kiss that weird deer goodbye, because I am not paying that just to get the deer. I could probably find an actual creepy vintage deer for less.
I like Josefina's colorful outfit except for the pink shoes. I knew they were there, but they really don't go with anything. And they feel a bit anachronistic. I don't know if it's the shape specifically or if they'd been better in a softer material. Something just feels too modern there.
So just Julie's dress. Someday, Julie!

Date: 2016-08-25 10:55 pm (UTC)Apparently the Wellie stuff is showing up in TRU stores, so it's possible the dolls will be, too. They seem to be priced a little higher than AG, but y'know, you can run in and grab something and not wait forever and a day for shipping.
I want that creepy deer enough that as soon as free shipping comes along or a sale, I'm grabbing. I just wish the rumors of the apron being included in that set had been true as I could stomach the price much better that way.
I think you nailed my problem with the shoes. Usually Josefina's shoes look more realistic and these just look like generic AG shoes you could find with any given Truly Me outfit.
Yay for Julie!

Creepy flocked holiday deer are a thing. I never knew. Heh. None of them are as good as Maryellen's though. Arrrrggh.

Date: 2016-08-26 01:56 pm (UTC)I kinda like a couple of those, though still not as much as Maryellen's. But Christmas is coming, so it's possible more will appear and you'll find one more awesome than ME's!

Date: 2016-09-03 03:35 pm (UTC)Ha, I think we had the same puky yellow fridge! Or at least the same color. And one of the boy's friends had the avocado green fridges.
I think the pink fridge was a nod to her pink tree (I'm guessing ME's mom or dad liked pink) and the fact that it could have technically been pink. Just... not likely. In any case, I would have rather had the pink Christmas tree. :P
