AG: Truly Me
Aug. 29th, 2016 12:02 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
And we'll round out the new stuff with Truly Me. I might edit in the Bitty stuff later when I'm not tired of sitting here. If not, there's some cute stuff that I recommend looking into if only for an aww, unless you hate all things Bitty. (Reindeer costume!)

Christmas Eve Set // $32
Item#DRG61
Everything dolls need while they stay up to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus! This doll-sized set includes:
A shimmering sequin stocking with an attached charm
A striped pretend lollipop, featuring a grip for her doll to hold
Pretend glass of milk and plate of cookies
A blue snowflake gift box, complete with a satin bow
A pretty bead bracelet with a snowflake charm
A festive Santa hat
A mini The Night Before Christmas book
If I didn't already own the book, this would be higher on my want list. I'm not super thrilled about sequined stockings but everything else is pretty cute. Might wait and see if it goes on sale, might just wait for free shipping as I do kinda want everything else. I wonder how similar that lolli is to the one I bought on Etsy awhile ago.

Holiday Penguin PJs // $24
Item#DRG48

She’ll be cool and comfy as can be in these sporty penguin PJs! This long-sleeved pink top features a distressed 10 and penguin graphic, plus athletic stripes. The knit pants have a festive penguin print, and cozy red bootie-style slippers and red hairbands complete the cuddly look.
This is cute as hell and I want. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaant. I know. Shock. Awe. Surprise. I want doll pajamas. :P But I'd totally use that shirt as a normal shirt and the penguins are super cute. I'd say don't judge but I don't care so judge away. ;)

Golden Sparkle Outfit // $36
Item#DRG47

Her doll will shine bright this holiday season in this gorgeous golden outfit! It includes:
A sparkly tunic covered in sequins with taffeta at the edges
Black leggings with decorative pretend gemstones
Glittery golden shoes with ankle straps
A bright golden ring with a single pretend accent gem
A matching black satin headband with a row of gleaming pretend gemstones
First, ain't no way this is worth $36. Not even in AG terms. Just nope. Maaaaaybe $32, and even then I'd grumble. But I think we go through this every holiday when it comes to their outfits.
Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, I like that they did something different. On the other hand, it's so different that for me this is a New Year's Eve dress, really. I tend to think of the holiday dresses (because they've been dresses for the most part) as something they'd wear to a holiday party and this outfit is more NYE. Which isn't bad, it's just not the same.
So points given and taken for that. It doesn't scratch my holiday dress itch, but it's not like they haven't done NYE outfits before. I'm thinking about you, year 2000 outfit. I'm going to see how it looks on various dolls because I'm not thrilled with how it looks on #27 there.

Merry Magenta Outfit // $36
Item#DRG46

From parties to performances, this fancy dress will have her doll looking her holiday best! The cap-sleeved dress features a lacy overlay and a satin ribbon belt with glittery pretend gems. Includes a magenta satin headband for her hair, shiny black faux-gemstone studded shoes with scalloped front edges, and a purse.
Again, not really scratching my holiday dress itch, but it's cute enough. I'm not thrilled with the purse and shoes (those shoes in particular are all kinds of no. Didn't AG used to have cute shoes every so often? I swear they did.) but I like the dress enough that I have it near the top of my want list. Mostly, though, I suspect this has to do with not!Josefina there who is gorgeous and terrible on my wallet.

Enchanting Winter Outfit // $36
Item#DRG45

Winter adventures are on the horizon with this enchanting set! It includes:
A cozy cowl-neck sweater with soft-as-snow sleeves and faux-fur bodice detail
A baby-blue A-line skirt with a quilted pattern
Soft jersey-knit tights
Faux-fur-trimmed boots to keep her nice and warm
A fashionable faux-fur headband
I foresee nothing but trouble with that headband. Really, any headband from AG in the last... five years at least has been kind of a waste. And I'm not really a fan of the fur trimmed boots, but I like the rest and I feel like due to clearance sales over the last three or so years, I've wound up with a few of these winter outfits. Usually they look like the Disney Channel Villain but this year we get the star of the show's outfit. (Not the quirky best friend's getup, maybe next year's will be that?) I want this one. The skirt alone is pretty enough and the blue tights are nice and a change and basically this is nice aside from the price. So when a sale comes up or if I need something to hit a free shipping threshold.

Sparkle & Spin Skating Outfit // $38
Item#DRG44

Her doll will be the star of the rink in this 2-in-1 sparkling practice and performance outfit! Featuring:
A coral colored figure-skating leotard with sparkling sequin trim and full skirt to show off her jumps and spins
A pair of athletic pants, perfect for practicing
A pair of classic white skates with white laces
Two skate guards
A satin headband to sweep back her hair
Hey, a skating outfit that isn't blue or pink/purple. I say this like AG hasn't done that before, but I swear their last few have been very pretty ice blues. This is a decidedly different take and I applaud them for it. I also like the price when compared to the last few they've trotted out. That said... I'll be waiting on a sale. I like the skate guards though. I know, of all the things to focus on, I choose that. :P
And OT, but wow, how much did they have to brush out 26's curls? Or is she a custom they just have around for whatever reason?

TrulyMe #65 (Not!Emily) // $115
Item#DRV84

The 18-inch Truly Me™ doll has a huggable cloth body, eyes that open and close, hair that can be styled, and a movable head and limbs made of smooth vinyl. This one has light skin tone, layered red hair, and blue eyes. She arrives wearing a lilac dress with a sparkly waistband and sequined mesh accents, and turquoise shoes.
AG. AG. When are you gonna give me a redhead that isn't the classic mold? Nellie was the closest and she was a strawberry blonde and cute as hell. Or, if you persist with this weird classic mold only rule, could we maybe have the dark blue eyes? Those are stunning and you don't use them enough.

TrulyMe #66 (Not!Josefina) // $115
Item#DRV85

The 18-inch Truly Me™ doll has a huggable cloth body, eyes that open and close, hair that can be styled, and a movable head and limbs made of smooth vinyl. This one has medium skin tone, black-brown hair, and brown eyes. She arrives wearing a lilac dress with a sparkly waistband and sequined mesh accents, and turquoise shoes.
Not sure about the hair because I've heard weirdness about that particular type of wig, but she's so pretty. SO. PRETTY. Also, she's kinda got the Lea brows, yes? So maybe I will find an evil one sometime... *cough* I wish I had more to say about her, but it's pretty much "want, will have, thank you."
I do wonder whatever came of that testing of the $98 TM dolls. Was it just a weirdly done online thing (and in some stores) or was it a test and we'll see lower prices? I need to know.

Williams-Sonoma Cupcake Set for Dolls // $24
Item#DRG54

Now her doll can be a baker too! We partnered with Williams-Sonoma to create this sweet cupcake set. Includes:
A spatula for spreading frosting
Four pretend cupcakes, two vanilla and two chocolate
Four cupcake holders
A make-believe red cupcake pan
A jar of pretend sprinkles
A fancy cupcake display to show off her skills
A doll-sized abridged Williams-Sonoma American Girl Baking cookbook
The best thing about doing these roundups is that I go back over the list of new things and find stuff I initially missed. Like this. This I want and want pretty badly. You can add me to the long list of people who are happy that AG is finally making less expensive (for them) accessory sets again. Also? This is a set you can play with. The cupcakes aren't stuck in their liners, they aren't stuck in the pans or the display. You can 'make' them. If it had been me, I'd have thrown in a couple of unfrosted cupcakes, too, but baby steps, AG. Plus mini book! Eee!

Blender and Milkshake Set // $24
Item#DRG53
It’s time for a tasty treat! Her doll can enjoy freshly blended milkshakes with this sweet set. Includes:
A doll-sized pretend blender with removable pitcher and lid
A pretend box of ice cream and bottle of chocolate syrup for making the perfect milkshake
Two tall milkshake glasses
An ice cream scooper
Now I want a milkshake. This is a cute set and I'll be honest, it'll probably find a way here and I will regret nothing. Except that the blender's contents make it look weird with the flecks of 'chocolate' and possibly vanilla bean (ugh. Vanilla bean. So gross).

Lasagna Dinner Set // $24
Item#DRG52
Dinner is served! This yummy set includes:
A pan of pretend lasagna with two pieces that can be served on plates, two slices of pretend garlic bread, and a container of pretend olive oil
A metal spatula for serving the lasagna
Two white plates and two metal forks
And garlic bread. That is not a very yummy looking lasagna. Poor dolls. But it wasn't all that yummy looking the last time they brought this out so...

Waffle Breakfast Set // $24
Item#DRG51
Breakfast is served! She can start her doll’s morning off right with a plate full of delicious waffles. Includes:
A pretend waffle maker that opens and shuts, with two pretend heart-shaped waffles that fit inside
Two sets of pretend ripe strawberries
A pretend syrup bottle and pitcher of orange juice
Two plates and two metal forks
In case you wondered, the dishes for this set and the lasagna set match. Annnnd I wish the berry blobs were smaller but hey, I don't put berries on my waffles.

Gourmet Kitchen Set // $225
Item#DRG50

This wooden doll-sized kitchen features more than 65 pieces! It has a pretend fridge and oven, cabinets and drawers that open, shelves, a message board, and a pot rack. Also includes:
A whisk, wooden spoon, and spatula
A stock pot, sauce pan, baking sheet, brownie pan, and bread pan
Nesting measuring cups and spoons
A stand mixer that really spins, with a mixing bowl and two attachments
A rolling pin and pretend pastry dough
A toaster that pops up when ready
Pretend food: cereal, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, bread, brownies, four cookies, strawberries, and blueberries
A pretend salt shaker and pepper grinder
A butter dish
Eight pretend spice jars, plus flour and sugar
A trash can and a metal chair
A polka-dot apron and matching hot pad
A recipe box with five real recipe cards
Two plates, bowls, cups, metal forks & spoons, and one butter knife
A set of decals for labeling spice jars and pretend marker for the message board
Pretend pet food and a hidden pet-food drawer with a bell to ring
Let's not pretend that if I had the space and if I had the money I wouldn't buy this. Because honestly, it's not even the space stopping me on this one. It's the money. I think it's awesome and I was ready to write this off as soon as we got the first teaser image. But looking at it all, I want. I want so much. I'm not really sure how much of it is wanting a doll kitchen and how much of it is missing a kitchen that isn't the size of a postage stamp. In any case, I want and I like and for AG, it's semi reasonably priced.

Ready to Style Hair Care Kit // $24
Item#DRG59

She’ll be ready to brush, braid, and frizz-tame her doll’s hair with this easy-to-use hairstyle kit. Includes:
A real bottle of specially formulated hair smoothing spray for dolls, to add shine and help get tangles out
A doll hairbrush
Three heart clips
Four claw clips
10 hair elastics
Six terry hairbands
25 colorful mini elastics
An elastic headband to keep the hair out of her doll’s eyes
Tips and tricks for using the doll smoothing spray
A clear zip pouch for easy storage
So braid spray for dolls? Or really water that we're pretending is something else? I dunno. This is one I'll happily pick up on sale, especially since my doll brushes have disappeared or are falling apart.

Hairstyle Essentials Set // $20
Item#DRG58
This styling set has all the essentials she needs to keep her doll’s hair looking great:
A misting bottle and doll brush to work out any tangles
12 curlers and a package of curling papers for giving her doll beautiful waves and curls
10 hairpins to keep fancy styles in place
A salon cape to protect her doll’s clothes
Or maybe I'll pick this one up with free shipping, whenever that is. I've found the AG curlers actually work really well, so I might go this route and save a little. We'll see. It's nothing fabulous, but it's also just an updated accessory kit they usually have. I do like the teal brush.

Hair Salon Scene // $15
Item#DRG56
It's cute but I don't think I've bought a single scene yet. Make BF ones, AG, and then I'll cave. Possibly at full price.

Salon Chair and Wrap Set // $60
Item#DRG55

It’s always the perfect day for her to treat her doll to a new hairdo! This set includes:
A realistic salon chair that swivels and can be raised up and down with a working foot lever and features a metal base with a suction cup for stability
A printed terrycloth spa wrap to wear for spa treatments
A pair of flip-flops
A pretty ribbon headband
It's cute. I like the little wrap. I'll never buy even if doll hair is tricky for finding a position to hold the doll in. I don't think the chair would really help me much unless I brought it down to my desk here and even then... nope.
This is kind of the flipside to my love of the June release, I guess. I'm kinda meh over a lot of this with a few loves sprinkled in. Nothing horrible, really, and a lot of things where I like the idea behind it, even if that particular item isn't for me.
I'm a little sad that this is pretty much the last they'll do til the store exclusive (which I assume is coming this fall) and then we end the year. That said, I never did buy anything from the June release so it's not like I'm not behind as it is. :P

Snuggly Bear Bunting for BB // $28
Item#DRL45
Your little one can keep Bitty Baby cozy and warm in this beary-cute bunting. This soft white suit has paw embroidery on each palm that folds back to reveal Bitty Baby’s hands, plus a hood with adorable ears. It features a front zip, and the bottom opens so the suit can be worn two ways.
Okay, how could I not share this? It's adorable. BB and I don't always get along and I'm fairly certain that Bitty of the Damned will murder me if I buy this and put it on her... but I'm willing to take that risk, honestly. Those ears! D'aww.

Bitty's Holiday Keepsake Set // $28
Item#DRL46
This adorable set is the perfect holiday keepsake gift for Bitty Baby. It includes:
A festive red-and-white knit bodysuit for dolls, featuring a hood with cute ears and felt antlers
A keepsake gift box that plays music and has space for a photo and personal details inside.
This honestly looked a lot cuter when I first saw it. Now that I've had time to look more closely, it kinda freaks me out. But it could swing back around to cute again. I do wish they'd share the keepsake box because I want to see inside and I don't think I'll make it to a store to find out.

Snowgirl Hat & Booties Set // $12
Item#DRL47
This sweet hat is sure to melt hearts! It features an embroidered snowgirl face and big red pom-pom, and Bitty Baby’s red knit booties each have an adorable bow.
This is an addition to the reindeer outfit above, which again, I didn't realize until I looked beyond a quick scroll through the "What's New" section. Cuteness! But again, BotD would murder me... and if I'm dying, I'm dying for the bear costume not this.

Ruffled Penguin PJs for BB // $24
Item#DRL49
Sweet dreams are in store for Bitty Baby with these comfy penguin pajamas. This outfit includes a loose-fit thermal top with a sweet ruffle and penguin graphic, plus striped pajama pants.
I'm not a fan of ruffles like that so this is a pass for me. I do think that shade of blue is gorgeous, however.

Tartan Taffeta Dress for BB // $28
Item#DRL48
Bitty Baby will be ready to celebrate the holidays in this darling dress. It includes:
A red tartan dress with adorable cap sleeves, a full skirt with a cascading ruffle, and velveteen sash and bow
A red velveteen bow headband
Matching velveteen shoes with attached bows
I'll likely be buying this if it looks half as cute as I expect it will on any doll. My Bitty Twin still needs clothes and BotD might like an alternate outfit. Also, come the winter release, part of me sighs and wishes the universe would hurry up and grace Cass with a kid so I could spoil the crap out of that child. Gotta say that while this year's isn't quite as cute for the girls, it's still cute enough to evoke the sigh.
There's a sleeper outfit that's pretty basic and some new toys and a washer/dryer set and a rocking chair and basically all kinds of cute stuff that I'm not gonna link because I don't think anyone here is really into Bitty.
Oh, and there's a new jacket for girls in their BeForever inspired line, and it goes with Rebecca. There's a Kit inspired shirt and a Josefina inspired shirt as well. The Kit one is super cute and the Josefina one is really pretty. I wish they'd do these in doll size, too.
And finally, I'll be updating the Beforever post with the catalog/Pinterest shots of the new BF stuff.

This is cute as hell and I want. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaant. I know. Shock. Awe. Surprise. I want doll pajamas. :P But I'd totally use that shirt as a normal shirt and the penguins are super cute. I'd say don't judge but I don't care so judge away. ;)

Glittery golden shoes with ankle straps
A bright golden ring with a single pretend accent gem

Includes a magenta satin headband for her hair, shiny black faux-gemstone studded shoes with scalloped front edges, and a purse.
Again, not really scratching my holiday dress itch, but it's cute enough. I'm not thrilled with the purse and shoes (those shoes in particular are all kinds of no. Didn't AG used to have cute shoes every so often? I swear they did.) but I like the dress enough that I have it near the top of my want list. Enchanting Winter Outfit // $36
Item#DRG45

A cozy cowl-neck sweater with soft-as-snow sleeves and faux-fur bodice detail
A baby-blue A-line skirt with a quilted pattern
Soft jersey-knit tights

I foresee nothing but trouble with that headband. Really, any headband from AG in the last... five years at least has been kind of a waste.

I'm not really sure how much of it is wanting a doll kitchen and how much of it is missing a kitchen that isn't the size of a postage stamp. A doll hairbrush

Four claw clips

Date: 2016-09-03 02:57 pm (UTC)I rolled my eyes at Williams-Sonoma (because they are stupid expensive for middling quality), the lasagna set immediately made me think of Daria (gee, I wonder why LOL), and the strawberry blobs look kinda gross in that waffle set.

Date: 2016-09-03 03:40 pm (UTC)It's kind of odd that they're still doing the WS thing considering Grace was last year but hey, you do you, AG. Despite Ari working there briefly, I don't think I've ever been to (or really wanted to) WS. She did have some fun stories about the people who shopped there, however.
Annnnnnnd now I want lasagna. Which is probably the universe telling me not to fall down the Daria pit because there's only so much lasagna one should eat.
