Finally, AG's Feb Release Roundup part 2
Feb. 21st, 2017 12:17 pmToo big for one post apparently. So, part two.
Tenney:
And that brings us to... Tenney. And Logan, but as of this moment in time, Logan is essentially an expensive accessory to Tenney. Hell, he's an accessory in her books so far, too. He ain't happy about that, either, btw.

Tenney Doll & Book // $115
Item#DVM11
The 18" Tenney doll has light brown eyes that open and close, freckles on her nose, and long, curly blond hair. Tenney’s unique hand positioning helps her hold her guitar, banjo, and pick! She arrives in a graphic tee, denim vest, faux-leather skirt, and ankle boots. Also included are a woven bracelet and the Tenney paperback book.
Just to refresh the memory, the bracelet is pretty much the final nail in the coffin that proves Tenney was meant to be the GOTY. She has too many new things to have ever initially been anything other than GOTY: new wig, new eye color, new hands, and the special accessory that they'd normally use to justify the price being $120.
Broken record but hey, I use these posts to refresh my memory from year to year: I'd have bought Tenney if she was any mold other than classic and if they weren't undercutting Gabby. Reading Tenney's books makes me like her more (Logan, however, is an ass who is not being helped by the time spent waiting for the book where I imagine his backstory will come into play) but there are simply too many things about her doll that don't gel for me. The lips that tend to look like she ate lipstick, the freckles that can veer too dark, the beauty mark that can also look too dark, the variations in the classic mold that don't do any doll any favors, the fact that some wigs are gorgeous and some are dry as straw, and then there's the ever present threat that the next batch of dolls could be permapanties and that's just a bunch of no thank you from me.

Tenney's Accessories // $34
Item#DMV05
To work toward her artistic goals, Tenney keeps two things close at hand: her trusty guitar, and a notebook for when songwriting inspiration strikes. Tenney's guitar can be strummed and plays three songs. It comes with a strap, plus a pick that Tenney can really hold. Her notebook features some of her song lyrics!
Please note:
Guitar can be used with amplifier, sold separately with Tenney's Stage & Dressing Room.
Requires 3 AAA batteries, not included. Adult assembly required.
Tenney's guitar is a bit of a plot point in the books and I can't imagine how they would have done a collection for her without one. Honestly, this is one I will probably buy at some point because I like instruments that play. Plus, it's just a pretty guitar.

Tenney's Banjo // $28
Item#DVM07
Tenney’s banjo is easy for her to hold and features strings to strum and a button to press that plays three original songs—it works with her amplifier too (sold separately). This set also includes a removable strap and a thumb pick.
Please note:
Requires 3 AAA batteries; adult assembly required.
Tenney's collection is just an excuse to put out all the instruments, isn't it? I've heard good things about this, though.

Tenney's Spotlight Outfit // $36
Item#DVM01
Tenney makes her musical dreams a reality onstage in this outfit! It includes:
A white lace top
A shimmery pink skirt
A starry headband
Brown cowboy boots
Damn you, books! You made me like this outfit. And naturally it's one of the more expensive ones, too. I'm going to wait and see if a) there's a sale and b) more importantly, if they stop sewing these outfits in. I've heard it's kind of luck of the draw on Tenney's stuff, particularly this outfit. In any case, this is one that shows up a few times in her books and I went from being on the fence to wanting it.

Tenney's Stage and Dressing Room // $225
Item#DVM10
Tenney is so excited to perform her music. She can get ready for her show in the dressing room, then take the stage to play her guitar! This 2-in-1 play set features a stage on one side and dressing room on the other, and includes:
A stage with walls and a floor where Tenney performs her music
2 spotlights that really work, plus 4 colored inserts to change the mood
An amplifier that plays a song and crowd applause, a microphone, and a guitar stand
A cord that connects the amplifier to your audio device (not included)
A tambourine Tenney can really hold
A set of stage curtains
4 music posters and 4 frames
An On Air sign that lights up
A dressing table and chair for getting ready for the show
Pretend makeup compact and puff
A hair clip that was a gift from her sister
Faux flower bouquet in a vase
Pretend sandwich, grapes, water bottle, and plate
Two floor rugs
A cozy robe
A robe hook, guitar hook, and hanger
Two show tickets
Please Note:
Guitar, banjo, and electronic music player not included.
Cannot be gift wrapped.
Button-cell batteries included. Also requires 4 AA and 3 AAA batteries, not included. Adult assembly required.
Yes, please do go on about how Gabby was totally meant to be the GOTY from the get go while this one item blows everything of Gabby's, including her unreleased but shown loft bed completely out of the water. Mmm hmm. I thought so.
Also, this isn't a thing from the books. Like at all. Not even a bit. Maybe the third book? But the first two, Tenney's performances don't get a dressing room experience so this is definitely a fantasy kind of deal. I'm a little sad that the robe is included with this because when it leaked, I wanted it. But I don't want it enough to buy this so I shall do without. If I look at this with the eyes of younger!me, I totally want it. I love it when AG lets you decorate things and switch them up, not to mention has little working bits and bobs. However, adult!me hasn't the space or the money so I shall admire from afar. Sort of. It's really hard to divorce how I feel about Tenney's obviously cohesive collection versus Gabb's leftovers from how I feel about just the stuff. It's complicated, doll world. And now I'm dying because I just noticed the bunch of flowers is simply a larger version of Mattel's usual flowers in a vase that I think I first really noticed back in the world o' MyScene. Dying!

Tenney's Gingham Pajamas // $24
Item#DVL97
Tenney dreams big dreams in these sweet gingham-and-lace print pajamas, featuring:
A button-front top
Shorts with a ruffled hem
Blue moccasin slippers
A blue headband
I want to see these on say... Gabby. For science. On Tenney, they seem to make her eyes look reddish and I don't need a devil doll to go with my murder cow.

Tenney's Picnic Outfit // 28
Item#DVL99
Tenney takes a break for some Nashville-style food from her mother’s food truck. Her outfit features:
A chambray shirt
White crocheted shorts
Tan loafer shoes
Still don't know how I feel about this outfit, honestly. *shrug*

Tenney's Hat and Necklace // $18
Item#DVM00
Tenney shows her Nashville spirit with these stylish accessories. This set includes a floppy hat with braided trim, and a necklace featuring a guitar-pick charm with an etched songbird.
Seriously, this paired with the outfit above has probably been seen on at least two of the PLL actresses and I am not falling down the rabbit hole of trying to find photos. This is one I like in theory, but only in that "hey, wouldn't you like a hat and a necklace set?" and not in the photos. The necklace seems too big and hats are hit or miss for me in general so this is pretty much a solid pass unless I somehow fall in love with the outfit it's meant for.

Tenney's Picnic Set // $28
Item#DVM04
Tenney makes a picnic with choices from her mom's food truck! Includes:
A reversible blanket with ties and a handle for easy carrying
A tray, menu, napkin, and metal fork
Delicious pretend food: watermelon, hot chicken in a paper tray, potato salad, and glass of sweet tea
Ah, sweet tea. The bane of my existence. You can't live in the South (at least not here) and get away with not drinking it. Only we just call it tea because it's assumed that unless someone is breaking out the tea cups, that when you ask for tea you want sweet tea. I have never been a fan and thus I frequently wind up drinking water since your options are usually tea, tea, and water. :P
That aside, because it has nothing to do with anything, I cackled when the crankier subsect of the fandom tried to discredit this set as a try hard kind of thing and then locals spoke up and told them to shove it.
I like the set well enough. I really like the reversible blanket and I want to see that menu just because I'm a dork. This is a someday maybe purchase.

Tenney's Golden Retriever Waylon // $24
Item#DVM02
Tenney’s golden retriever, Waylon, is her first and biggest fan! He has soft brown fur and a blue attached collar with flower accents.
Hey, Waylon, how do you feel about the flower accents permanently attached? I think he's cute but overpriced. Sale or something and I'll add him to the parade of animals Jess is accumulating ever so slowly.

Logan Doll // $115
Item#FBB99
Meet Logan, Tenney’s bandmate and drummer! The 18" Logan doll has gray eyes that open and close, and short brown hair. Logan’s unique hand positioning helps him hold instruments! He arrives in a plaid button-down shirt, a T-shirt, jeans, underwear, and shoes.
Please note:
Instruments sold separately.
Logan, Logan, Logan. They gave you nothing extra but the clothes on your back and yet you still cost as much as the dolls with books and accessories and things. Really, not cool. Also not cool? The new bodies the dolls have been given. Or the cloth used for it, anyway. I've seen some Logans that are practically see-through and some that are pretty normal. Seriously, AG. Don't cut corners, just free shipping. All the time. I swear, you'll see a difference in sales. Sigh.
Back to Logan. Since I've heard exactly nothing else about the custom dolls, I think I shall continue with my plan to buy Logan and genderswap. Because why not. Also, character Logan brings out the worst in Tenney most of the time. Unrelated, grey eyes!

Logan's Rhythmic Drum Set // $68
Item#DYL68
Logan is ready for rhythm! This metallic-blue set includes:
A bass drum with a working pedal and bright star design
A snare drum
A metal cymbal
Two drumsticks that Logan can hold
Stands for the drums and cymbal
A stool
Honestly, AG should've included the drumsticks in this set and with the doll since he's forever doing the drummer thing and messing with them. I have no opinions about this set. It is what it is and it's a set o' drums. Ooh. Ahh. *shrug* No mockery or gushing love. I do know that the next time someone complains about a boy being on the drums and how there are no fictional female drummers to give girls any idea it's a thing I'm going to have to start throwing Archie comics at them with the Pussycats pages marked or spam things with pictures of Melody. :p If I'm feeling extra evil, we'll go with Tara Reid's Melody.
(And yes, I get that there should be more but it's not like they'd win if Tenney played drums and Logan was on guitar. Can't win situation here, people. Pick your battles.)
