Snow, snow, snow

impyOf course, the one day I get off for personal reasons looks like everyone is going to get off as well due to the weather. Various storms are converging on us and by the time I got off work this morning, the rain had begun. They're calling for sleet and snow.
On our way home, I saw a car wipe the hell out on the tiny you forget it's really a bridge bridge down the road from work. We also saw a guy get out of his car to try and help and he immediately slid and hit the ground. But when you listened to the radio, not a single report on the traffic or even the weather. WTF, local stations? This is actually kind of important.
Anyway, Mom and I took the long way around and she drove very, very slowly but we made it home without incident. I think our parking lot (the area right in front of our house, even) is actually the most frozen over I've seen so far. Our pond is icing over and as of half an hour we've got ice on the car.
So yeah, I'm not expecting work to be open tonight. I do wonder if they'll call me or if they remember, even though it's not on the schedule, that I'm not supposed to work tonight anyway. And will they pay me with PTO or the "ohno, emergency closing!" way. Guess we'll see.
Mom's watching MacGyver on Amazon so I'm going to poke my nose outside again.
eta: Yup. Work called to say they'd closed and wouldn't re-open until tomorrow. Probably. In any case, they were acting like I was going to worry about that anyway. Nope, it was my day off.
I hear it's snowing in Summerville which means the snow should be heading this way. So much ice everywhere already.
