brb, laughing forever
Aug. 8th, 2018 11:26 amCackling forever at the local power company's desperate attempts to not have to pay for their failed nuclear reactor project that they knew was doomed. If you're really, really bored, or you really, really want to see greed in action, look up SCE&G/SCANA and the nuclear reactors. They've been charging their customers for a project they knew they'd never finish (and not just because Westinghouse went under) and awarding themselves insane bonuses and now they're crying because just about every lawmaker in the state has finally found common ground: making SCANA/SCE&G pay for their own colossal fuckup instead of foisting the payment onto their customers. For some reason SCE&G/SCANA don't agree and are suing because of course they are. A judge ruled that they would have to cut our bills by something like 15% and that this month we'll also get a credit for April-July, I think. So yeah, that's fun.
This is after they jacked up a good chunk of the July bills, btw. Greedy bastards. But my favorite thing (that won't immediately net me a chunk off my bill that is) was the company claiming that not collecting the money would bankrupt them. The response from an auditor hired to check that very thing? A quick "LOL, no, you just won't be swimming in new mansions this year." Also, maybe have the people who got insane bonuses have to give them back.
This has been news from SC.
