impy: Lorelai Gilmore making her forks fight with the text 'Take That!' (take that)

We begin with the thing that has the least practical use for me, but is perhaps the most news worthy and that is the fact that AG has finally realized that maybe after decades of molding young girls into women who still remember the company fondly, maybe those women would like to match their kids or just wear the AG stuff too. I mean, it's mostly to match the kids but you do you, boo. Holiday Dreams Pajamas for Women the outfit, which you buy separately, will ultimately set you back $50. Clearly I will not be buying for many reasons but again, it's nice of them to offer it up for those who do want it.

Holiday Dreams Pajamas // $24
image host image host
Item# FVK48
These festive holiday PJs are made for holiday fun and sweet snowflake dreams. This set includes:
A cozy long-sleeved top with a large embroidered snowflake and smaller glittery snowflake graphics on the front
A soft pair of knit leggings with a plaid-and-snowflake print
Fleece slippers to keep her feet warm with embroidered snowflakes on the toes
A pair of red terry hairbands

My initial reaction is to say no thank you, ma'am. I'm not sure what it is, but the sleeves look awkward and if I'm completely honest, those leggings are actually hurting my eyes. Could be the headache (which is why the booze was cancelled), could legitimately be a thing that just doesn't appeal to me. *shrug* It's a set of doll PJs I don't want. I feel weird about this. Let's move on.

Snowy Dreams PJs for Bitty Baby // $24
Item#FVL13
These festive holiday PJs are made for sweet snuggles and snowflake dreams with Bitty Baby. This set includes:
A cozy long-sleeved top with a large embroidered snowflake and smaller snowflake graphics on the front
A soft pair of knit leggings with a plaid and snowflake print
Fleece slippers to keep her feet warm, with embroidered snowflakes on the toes

I said we were moving on. But here's the Bitty version so you can get the full idea of the matchy potential going on. :P Also, Bitty of the Damned is much cuter than this poor unfortunate soul.

Tis the Season Party Dress // $36
Item#FVJ99
image host image host
This festive outfit is made for twirling at holiday parties. It features:
A bright-red velvet dress with sparkly rhinestones at one shoulder for a festive touch
A red satin headband with rhinestones to sweep back her hair
A pretty purse with silver foil accents to hold her essentials
Silver shoes with crisscross ankle straps

I'm not really sure how much good it would do you to twirl in that dress because you'd get no effect at all, AG. You want twirl factor, you gotta be a little less stingy with your fabric. That aside, I don't hate it... from the front. Hell, until I saw the back view which is so bland and painful to look at that ruins everything for me, I thought to myself, "This is a red dress I could get on board with, maybe." And then I saw the back and realized that for some asinine reason the accessories are cream. WHY. I want them but not to pair with this dress. They'd look lovely with the cream dress from what, 2013? But it's just off with the rhinestones somehow. Also, let's just address the fact that headband is going to be a bitch to get on their little heads and ruin any and all curls it encounters.
All of this isn't going to necessarily keep me from buying it because I really do like the dress. From the front. Gonna wait on reviews. Points awarded though for not requiring an accessory set to be bought to complete the look.

Merry and Bright Party Dress for Bitty // $28
Item#FVL11
image host
Bitty Baby is ready to celebrate at her first holiday party in this adorably festive outfit. It includes:
A charming red velveteen dress with sweetly capped sleeves, an embroidered satin waistband, and layered mesh draping on the bodice
A shimmery headband with a red mesh bow
Shiny shoes with matching red bows at the toes

I'm pretty sure BotD has a red dress similar to this but I like the embroidery and should I either see this on one of the larger dolls and like it or it hit the clearance section, I will quite likely buy it. Bitty model is still unfortunate.

Let It Snow Outfit // $36
Item#FVK40
image host image host
She’ll be chic for holiday celebrations in this outfit, featuring:
A sleeveless organza tunic with a polka-dot lining that peeks through and a flurry of snowflakes embroidered at the hem
A faux-fur collar with sparkly rhinestones to keep her warm
A velvet ribbon headband with an embroidered snowflake and rhinestone accent for her hair
Black leggings with rhinestones at the hem
Shiny black ankle-strap shoes

Ladies and gents, may I present to you the "Be careful what you wish for" outfit. I mean, it's different. I hate the fur collar because it looks stupid without sleeves. I like the dress, I think, but honestly without zooming in on the snowflakes, I'd never get holiday dress vibe from this. And I'm 99% sure I picked up the gold tunic outfit that had similar leggings last year (?) and it looked strangely off. Then again, maybe if another doll were wearing this at the same time, it'd look less out of place. Basically, I need to see this without the fur in the way.

Winter Sparkles Outfit // $36
Item#FVK85
image host image host
Winter is the perfect time of year to take in the dazzling lights and other snowy wonderland sights. This sparkling outfit features:
A soft-pink fleece coat with a large collar and glittery rhinestone detail, plus a belt that ties in front to keep her toasty warm
A tank dress with a full mesh skirt and sparkly printed dots to catch the lights
A warm knit pink hat with sparkle woven in and rhinestone detail on the front
A pair of soft-pink tall boots, perfect for winter adventures

I'm from the South and we don't know nothin' bout winter, but I feel like if you had to break out the hat, the fleece, and the boots, you'd probably not be bare legged. I'll begrudgingly let the lack of sleeves or anything of interest on the bodice of the dress go because this is clearly meant to be worn exactly as shown and no other way. And unlike the photographer outfit from years ago that came without a shirt, AG decided that hey, might as well attach the skirt to a dull as dishwater tank and call it a day.
But it's sparkly and I like it more than I should. Reviews, make me see reason and run from this!

Twas The Night Before Set // $30
Item#FVK42
image host image host
She’s on Santa’s “nice” list this year! American Girl dolls can celebrate Christmas traditions with this set.
A hooded fleece robe with embroidered snowflakes and faux-fur trim to keep her cozy
A mini hardcover edition of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer book to read before she snuggles in for a long winter’s nap
A letter to Santa
A red holiday platter with three gingerbread cookies to leave by the fireplace
A glass of milk for the jolly old elf
A bunch of carrots for Santa’s reindeer

Order has been restored to the universe! I knew AG couldn't go a holiday season without making an accessory set to complete a look and here we are, blinding me with red and this lovely shade of blue or green or whatever that is making me crave daiquiri ice ice-cream something fierce. But also, I hate this shade with red. Haaaaaaaaaaaate. I've mentioned that before, right? Only a thousand times, I'm sure. Anyway, it's a cute set if you ignore the eye-searing combo and the fact that the milk is entirely too small when compared to the giant cookies. For $24, like the PJs, I'd bite. For $30, I'll waffle and probably never actually do anything unless they go on sale.

Countdown To Christmas Set // $40
Item#FVK46
image host image host image host
Count down the days to the most exciting time of the year! This glittery box has doors to open for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. Each one is filled with doll-sized surprises, including festive accessories, mini activities, and pretend treats. Enjoy the surprise each day, or expand below to read everything that’s inside!
Doll-sized surprises include:
A sparkly snowflake garland with ribbon loops for the doll to hold
A red elastic headband with a satin bow
Cozy knit mittens with a snowflake pattern that appears when the doll’s hands are together
A holiday card with golden foil print and a red envelope
30 stickers for decorating the card
A golden doll-sized ring
A mug of hot cocoa topped with whipped cream
A white fleece scarf with a golden embroidered snowflake
A peppermint lollipop with a handle the doll can hold
A miniature ornament filled with pink glitter
A felt stocking with a golden embroidered star on the cuff
A Holiday Fun mini activity book

This is the one thing from this release I fully expect to sell out unless AG way overproduced it because while the price is fucking steep, it's also an almost Advent Calendar for AG with actually cute stuff. So yeah, I can see it selling out pretty quick. And I never say that.
I want this but I'm not sure how much I'd use any of the stuff. But I want it. WANT.

New Mix and Match Stuff. I'll be showing the item itself and then at the end we'll dump all the various outfit options, k?

City Sunset Tank // $10
Item#FRJ60
Bold as a rooftop sunset, this colorful brushstroke-patterned tank with sequins at the hem is a great choice for sightseeing!

Points for being different. Not sure how I feel about it, but if in the future I have a rewards certificate to use or I wind up at a store, I wouldn't say no.

City Sights Jacket // $15
Item#FRK93
Whatever the weather, she’s sure to enjoy her time in the city in this stylish drape-front jacket. It features faux-leather details at the shoulder, sleeves, and back.

I don't hate it. I will say that this is one of those pieces that reads less little girl than others, which means my brain immediately went to "I wish they had it in black." To be fair, 10+ me would have thought the same thing. :P

image host
Silver Starlight Skirt // $10
Item#FRK87
When she moves, this dazzling silver-pleated skirt with a bold sparkly black band catches the lights of the city!

  SOLD. WANT. GIMME.

Bright Lights Flats // $10
Item#FRK95
Add a touch of glam to any outfit with these silver glitter ballet flats.

Also sold. Sparkles and silver, oh my.

image host
Be Yourself Beret // $10
Item#FRK99
This classic knit hat with a sparkly rhinestone accent is the perfect pick to express her style.

This yellow is aggressively cheerful and y'know, I don't hate it? I won't be buying it probably, but somewhere Claudia and Stacey are both tsking me for not being brave enough to buy them such a beret. That they could totally use. You can hear it too, right?

image host
Sequin Collar Sweater // $10
Item#FRK88
From art gallery visits to museum tours, she’ll be the talk of the town in this bright long-sleeved sweater with sparkly sequin collar.

Unrelated to anything but the collar, but I was thisclose to buying a Veronica Lodge Riverdale costume tonight and had the matching capelet not been sold out, I'd have done it. Still probably will if the hood comes back in stock, honestly. Anyway, this looks like a pink version of the black and silver one they did a year or two ago and I can dig it. It's probably going to wind up here at some point because it works for both Liz Wakefield looks and Stacey McGill and at some point my dolls' costume needs starting becoming a thing for me.

image host
City Plaid Vest // $10
Item#FRJ59
The perfect finishing touch for a night-on-the-town outfit, this check-pattern vest features chic golden buttons and satin bow accents.

This is just somehow so fantastically unexpected that I need it. I couldn't even articulate way beyond "I want it" but I do and it is and it will be mine.

image host
Pretty City Shoes // $10
Item#FRK97
These bright-pink shoes are ready to take her places! They feature satin laces for extra flair.

Consider this the first, and possibly only, time I hope that these shoes don't require actual lacing because I'd never get them done as pretty as the promo pictures here.

image host
Uptown Shorts // $10
Item#FRK92
Dolls will shine their brightest as they see the sights of the city in these woven twill shorts. They feature an allover golden foil print and two front pockets to hold souvenirs.

Now I've got an unholy mashup of Uptown Girl and Uptown Funk stuck in my head. Damn you, AG. Damn you to hell! Anyway, these shorts are pretty much the item that happens in any given MnM selection they do where I want them but I'll be damned if I can think of too many things to pair them with.

image host
City Chic Dress // $15
Item#FRK94
From a park picnic to getting ice cream, she’ll be dressed for a day of fun with friends in this rib-knit dress with an allover floral print. It features bold colorblock panels and a full skirt.

*muse* I don't know how I feel about this dress, honestly. I've had three reactions to it. One I thought "hey, I like that!" one was "ugh" and then finally meh. I'm not counting it out of the running because I do think it looks nice on notquite!Gabby but there are other things I'm more interested in.

image host
Metro Leggings Set // $15
Item#FRK90
These city-inspired essentials are the perfect choice for layering looks on the go. Includes printed jersey pants with faux-leather details and contrast stitching, and a pair of comfy blue leggings.

I can't remember the last time I wanted AG leggings but that black pair? Yes, please.

image host
Downtown Skirt // $10
Item#FRK89
This woven skirt features an artful allover print and is perfect for a night at the movies or a trip to the city library with friends.

Can we take a moment to wonder at this cityscape that AG is trying to paint? It's reminding me a lot of anytime the BSC would wax poetic about NYC. Anyway, I like the stained glass look of this skirt but looking too closely at it is not a good idea for me. Headache returned.

image host
Follow Your Art Tee // $10
Item#FRK91
Show off her love of art and fashion with this teal tee! It features a “Follow Your Art” graphic and sparkly black sequined sleeves.

The colors work very well if you have Tenney's similar pieces and the art theme is pretty fitting for a variety of their previous characters. I like it even if it's not the most ~amazing~ piece from this collection. I'm a sucker for the color combo. Oddly though, I don't really love it with any of the outfits they paired it with. I continue to be contrary even to myself.

Overall, with this round of MnM stuff, I don't think they really mix and match spectacularly well but I really like/appreciate some of the pieces enough that I don't really care. It's been awhile since I really thought someone tried for the majority of the pieces in the collection. They were going for a very specific look and some of the clothing seems like it'll be pretty awesome, so I'm going to give this round a thumbs up.

Snow Much Fun Outfit For Wellie Wishers // $24
Item#FVL61
image host image host
The WellieWishers like to count how many tracks their boots make in this wonderfully wintry outfit! It features:
A cozy light-blue sweater top with pink buttons and a bow accent
Bright leggings with a colorful plaid pattern
A pair of comfy boots, perfect for an afternoon of fun in the snowy garden
A pair of fuzzy earmuffs to keep her ears toasty warm

So I'm not super thrilled at how thin the dress/top seems but I do like the colors and honestly, Emerson will likely look adorable in this so I'm going to cautiously say this will find its way here one day or another. Also, obligatory rant about how AG can offer free shipping on all the Wellie stuff so where the hell is the free shipping on everything else.

Hop To It PJs for Wellie Wishers // $20
Item#FVL62
image host
image host
At the end of a day of fun garden play, the WellieWishers love to dress in comfy pajamas and slippers that match their pet bunny, Carrot. These PJs feature:
A comfy rib-knit union suit with Carrot-inspired print
A pair of faux-fur slippers with an embroidered Carrot face and fuzzy ears that peek out

The slippers are cute and the PJs aren't bad but they also aren't calling to me. *shrug*

Bows and Bears Outfit for Bitty // $26
Item#FVK98
image host
Your little one can snuggle Bitty Baby on cool nights in this beary sweet outfit. It includes:
A long-sleeved top with soft faux-fur trim at the hem and a sweet, fuzzy bear face with embroidery and a bow
Periwinkle leggings with dimensional terrycloth polka dots
Faux-fur slippers with matching bows
A darling faux-fur headband with an organza bow

I love just about everything this outfit chooses to be. The color is gorgeous and the sleepy little bear is killing me. I don't buy much for my Bitty Twin but this is going to be mine.

Initially I wasn't thrilled but as I went through and looked at each outfit, I found more to love. Dangerous for my wallet, alas. I do wonder if a) they'll be doing a store exclusive dress and b) what it'll be like if they do. Neither of this year's offerings strike the same chord within me that the holiday dresses usually do.

I promised the mix and match outfit options as presented by AG but I thought they should be off in their own little section.
