impy: Claudia and Stacey from The Baby-Sitters Club at the beach (just beachy)

My face hurts. It's the fucking weather and it's not pleasant. I'm going to need the meds to kick in ASAP because I am miserable and I have things to do today, dammit. Not fun things mind you, but things that need to be done anyway.

So while I enjoyed the thunderstorm and rain storm yesterday, I do not appreciate the fact that when I rolled out of bed and came downstairs, I found two Palmetto bugs just hanging out. No, you gross bastards, go away. Or die. They chose die, btw. Still not sure if the cat flipped them or if they flipped themselves, but the cat is accepting credit.

In other news, I decided not to skip my Ipsy for May because I really wanted two of the options floating around out there. Well, I really wanted one and would've been quite happy with the second. I should mention I'm pretty terrible at using my box stuff right away. Terrible. Even the stuff I mean to use ASAP I never do.

That was not the case with this box. If you clicked the link above and wondered what I got, fear not. I got the Tone Up Primer thing, the Glamglow bubble masks, the eye palette, the lip liner duo, and the Butter Me Orange Creamsicle body butter.

I did not actually get the liner duo as they weren't in my box, so I had to email Ipsy about that. But the body butter smells exactly like an orange dreamsicle and it is amazing and I love it and yes, I will be swapping out the lotion I'm taking to work for this one and not just because I think the other is breaking me out. This smells AMAZING. The other amazing thing is that apparently not a lot of people got this? So I really took a chance on getting a box I'm otherwise meh about to get one item I'm in looooooooove with. But the masks were my second want and I've used one already and it was fun. I like the bubble masks and this one works pretty well as one to use before you shower and unlike others, you don't necessarily wind up with bubbles up your nose. Huzzah! Haven't used the other stuff yet but I'm happy.

eta: So happy that I bought the bodycare trio they had in their shop and got an extra $5 off which was basically the universe saying that it was meant to be. So I'll use that and give Mums the blueberry BBW stuff. Everyone wins!

The same day my Ipsy box showed up, my AG order arrived. Friday, I believe. I haven't had time to try any of the AG stuff on a doll yet (maybe today if my sinuses stop trying to actively murder me?) but if you want first impressions, settle on in.

Molly's Write to Sleep PJs are up first as they're probably the reason I put in my order at all. The fabric is very cute and very soft and while I'm not going to say they're very 40's appropriate (I want to say they aren't, honestly) I wouldn't really know as that's not my area of expertise. They're freakin' adorable as stand alone PJs even if they don't invoke the 40's for me in anything other than style. The slippers are so very soft that I almost wish they came in my size. But they don't make such things in Big Foot sizing. WOE.
Seriously though, A+ at the $16 price.

TM Mix n Match Set 2 included: six sweet separates to make lots of cute looks! This set features the Lace-Print Shoes, Mermaid Tee, Ombre Waves Skirt, Seashell Lace Tank, Seashell Sequin Shorts, and Wave Shorts
Lace Print Shoes: To be truly beach authentic, they need to be frayed and covered in sand, also probably stained from the salt water that happens because you just can't wait for your feet to dry before putting your shoes on at the end of your beach visit. Not that I'd know or anything. *cough* They're cute and go well with the other items and that's what matters.
Mermaid Tee: WHY did I wait so long to buy this? It's adorable! That shade of blue is everything I love and the mermaid graphic is beyond cute and I wish they'd done more stuff like this. ♥
Ombre Waves Skirt: Despite knowing there's a layer of sequins at the bottom of this skirt, I keep being surprised by that fact in pictures and in reality. In theory the pink of it works but in reality I think the skirt would have been better off without it. Might work better once actually on the dolls though. It's pretty, though.
Seashell Lace Tank: Either I own this already or something veeeeeeeery similar or Mom has a shirt like this. It's very familiar. Which also means it's pretty basic but I'm really not going to complain about AG making basic mix and match pieces as we begged them to for years. It's a darker pink than the sequined shorts so if you like your pinks to match exactly, you will be sad.
Seashell Sequin Shorts: They're pink sequin shorts. They're insanely over the top and I love them for that.
Wave Shorts: I keep expecting them to be closer to the blue of the mermaid tee but they're definitely green and darker, closer to the fins on the mermaid's tail. I like the style but this pair is probably going to live and die on how well it fits the doll whereas the sequins can sparkle away any issues.

Overall, I wish the packaging wasn't plastic but I get why it is. Storing it in a warehouse probably requires it and having them free floating in the store probably resulted in stolen goods and also children have notoriously messy hands so... otherwise, I do like how even with the plastic, you can get an immediate feel for the outfit pieces aside from the shoes. So you don't have to guess, if you see them in person, how they'll look with various shade differences. For the very picky, this is awesome.
For the price I paid, I'm pretty damn happy.
Overall as a set, A.

Josefina's Festival Outfit, which is no longer available. I really like this one as it sparks enough of my AG history loving self that it makes me happy. You get a lot of pieces for the price and that's something that I wish AG would play up when you actually do get a complete outfit. I gather a lot of people flipped out over the pink shoes which are, at least color wise, accurate to the time and even to this outfit. My only issue with the pink is that I don't like pink and red together but eh. Let Josefina have something nice before she gets cubed. (It's coming so soon. Mah baby.) Also: actual embroidery if memory serves!
Overall, A+

Luciana's PJs As the lone item I believe I paid full price for, this is also the set I'm least thrilled with. The slippers aren't as fugly as I thought they'd be somehow, so that's a nice surprise. The leggings are absolutely amazing. The shirt... that style is kinda weird but I expected that because you can't really hide it in pictures. But the pink is weirdly muted or dusty and I guess that's actually accurately depicted in pictures but given AG's shitty photography I just thought they couldn't take a good picture of it. Nope, it really is a dingy pink for some reason. I think if it was a normal light, baby pink and that odd style I would be happier. Ditto if it was a more normal style of shirt and the dusty pink. But the combo of both makes me really only like the shirt for the graphic, which I've heard has peeling issues.
Giving this one a B- on first impression.

Maryellen's Party Punch Set. I'm going to confess that I like the idea of AG accessories a lot but I rarely display them because I don't have a ton of room and also the cat likes tiny things. So I don't get super worked up over these sets in person as much as I do when I frst see them online or in a catalog. This? This is so much better than I dared hope. I bought it for that demonic deer and it's awesome, honestly. But I either didn't know or forgot that the candle actually works (it's so much bigger than the deer that it's ridiculous) and this makes me happier than it probably should. This is a set that suffers terribly from sizing issues but somehow that makes it better because it's all so absurd. The punch bowl is tiny... for a punch bowl. But it's lovely. How is that possible? The 7-Up bottle is also pretty small, though this might be more noticible to me because I have a couple of AG size Coke bottles and have for years . But that candy dish with elf is just so over the top ridiculous that I actually asked "wtf?" and laughed when I saw it. Because I remembered the sleigh but not the elf. I can't grade this one because it's all over the place and I suspect my weirdness overrides a lot of issues. But for a sale price, it ain't bad.

Julie's Holiday Outfit which is apparently also sold out. This one's pretty even if I still think of her other holiday outfit as her... holiday outfit. Say holiday or outfit one more time, self. It's purple and I dig a velvet ribbon. The tights are soft and the shoes are shiny and nice. For $20, I'm pretty happy. This feels like something I could throw on Dawn or Claudia (or dolls pretending to be either, whatever) and it'd work well and that alone makes me happy. B+? Maybe A-. Not a complaint to be had so far, really.

Josefina's Nightgown This one is very simple and yet very pretty. The shade of orange used in the ribbon is perfection. So perfect that I... did not notice the slippers. Whoops.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my order. I'm happy with what I got and really impressed with how quickly it arrived (less than a week for AG is insane.) and I only wish that there was more I was interested in because my AG love apparently has rekindled after being very meh so far this year. And now the site is down, because of course it is. o_O

I believe my next order of business is to work on the dishes. But maybe I'll take my pizza box out first. Wish me luck in not dying due to the pollen.
