So Netflix finally dropped pictures of the new BSC adaptation. Seventeen has some pics and mini interviews.





I do suggest hitting the interview as you get confirmation that Dawn's Latina and the little video snippets are cute. But then, if you're me, you get bogged down by the ponderment of whether or not they changed the spelling of Dawn's last name or if Mary Anne is now Mary-Anne or if the Seventeen thing was written by someone who didn't completely fact check.

Which is to say I needed something to focus on beyond the pandemic.

I'M SO EXCITED.

I'm just...ignoring those pesky misspellings. It's okay Maria. People misspell them all the time. (IF I say that enough will I believe that?) What is bothering me is that people are angry that Dawn is Latina. Like? The commenters seem to think Californians should not be Latina/o. It's ridiculous.

I'm honestly surprised that they didn't flip Stacey's race rather than Dawn's, since Dawn's shtick was being the blonde Cali girl prior to her activism slant, but I suspect that if people are this weird about the fandom's least favorite character, it'd be brutal for one of the more popular ones.

The M-A thing is fairly understandable, so sure, we can believe it. Dawn's last name, well...
