AG October release
Oct. 6th, 2020 07:51 pmI'm only a week late on this. In my defense, I was sick. Still am, honestly, so this has been cobbled together over many, many days. Any and all extra weirdness is probably due to me being a little loopy. A little historical (Melody & Julie), a little Wellie, some Bitty, and a lot of Truly Me stuff. Basically this is the holiday release so if that's your jam, join me in judging this round's offerings!

Melody's Doo Wop Dress Up Outfit // $48
Item#GPJ45
Melody loves to play dress-up and pretend she's performing on stage with her brother. This head-to-toe look is pure '60s style and includes:
A pink dress with a sequin bodice and three layers of fringe on the skirt that move when Melody dances
A pink fabric headband for holding back her hair
A pair of pink slip-on shoes
A white faux-fur capelet for an extra touch of glamour
White elbow-length gloves just like real singers wore in the 1960s
Also known as the "why is Melody dressed like a flapper?" dress.

Julie's Birthday Outfit // $36
Item#GPJ44
Julie knows that the grooviest way to celebrate her birthday is with a barbecue at the beach with her friends and family. For her special day, she wears:
A dress with a purple crocheted top and a multicolored floral maxi skirt
A light-blue felt hat with an oversized brim that protects her from the bright California sun
Brown sandals with embroidered flowers
I find myself haunted by the blue hat. I think everyone's right and that this will look better on Ivy, but it also suffers from me really, really loving Julie's original birthday dress. Like, yes, I love purple with an unholy passion, but her original dress was perfection. I do however get massive Dawn Schafer vibes from this so uh, yeah. It's on the want list.

Julie's Birthday Gifts // $ 48
Item#GPM78
It's a very special birthday for Julie, and she gets gifts that are right on for the 1970s. Her groovy presents include:
A Lava® Lamp that creates colorful psychedelic effects when the lamp is switched on
A Magic 8 Ball® she can shake—just like the real thing—to tell her fortune for the coming year
A mood ring that's heat-sensitive and switches from blue to red. Julie's ring was blue for her birthday because she was feeling happy and relaxed!
A card that holds her ring and has '70s graphics showing what each color means
A speckled Pet Rock™ with a special box that has breathing holes and shredded paper bedding
A Pet Rock™ booklet that tells how to take care of her pretend pet
A printed invitation that's designed to look like Julie wrote it
Lava Lamp batteries included. Press button on lava lamp to turn light on. Auto shut off after set time. Lava lamp does not have liquid. Lava is stationary. Magic 8 Ball works like a the real one. Has fewer phrases than real one due to size limitations. Liquid inside Magic 8 Ball. Lava Lamp, Magic 8 Ball, and Pet Rock components are licensed. Ring changes color with warm or cool water.
LAVA® and the configuration of the LAVA® brand motion lamp are registered trademarks of Schylling Inc. in the U.S.A. and in other countries around the world.
Wait, the lava lamp doesn't actually move but you're gonna charge me the licensing fee? Fuck that noise. Annnnnnd then you suck me back in with the itty bitty mood ring that I remember wanting desperately whenever they cycled back into fashion in my class. Funny how boring they are when you realize you run so hot that you kinda burn them out. :P

Day of the Week Undies // $20
Item#GPV21
Her doll can choose a different color for each day of the week! This set features seven doll-sized brief with colorful elastic and a starry print.
Remember when AG decided to pretend that permapanties were a good idea? This is them remembering that hey, if kids lose the undies, we can sell MORE. Took them an insanely long time to go the day of the week route, however.

Elf on the Shelf Girl Elf Set For Dolls // $15
Item#GPM60
Oh, what fun it is to celebrate the season with The Elf on the Shelf®! This set includes a miniature version of the girl Scout Elf—just the right size for dolls! She also comes with a mini version of The Elf on the Shelf® box.
The Elf on the Shelf® and associated trademarks are owned by CCA and B, LLC, reproduced under license of CCA and B, LLC, 3350 Riverwood Parkway, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30339, USA.
For half a second I thought maybe, even though I've never been an EotS kinda gal. But then I saw the elf next to the doll and went NOPE. Ozma will eat that or the boys will and nope.

Spa Robe Set for Dolls // $28
ItemGPV23
Perfect for a day of pampering! Dolls can kick back and relax in this comfy set that includes a robe, slide-on sandals, and a cloth headband.
Why is this so adorable on #86 and making me think that this is what the Sugar Plum doll (remember, just 86 with glitter near the eyes) wears after she scrubs off the craft herpes?

12 Days of Cheer Countdown Set // $50
Item#GPM61
Build excitement this season with a special 12-day countdown set with a dozen special little gifts for dolls inside. It includes:
A pair of candy canes tied with a satin bow
A pair of white fingerless mittens with blue hearts
A caroling song book with real sheet music for seven traditional holiday carols
An insulated container with a removable red lid cup to keep hot cocoa warm
A pretend lantern with a candle that glows in the dark and a loop handle the doll can hold
Gingerbread girl and gingerbread boy cookies with white icing
A colorful striped scarf that's knotted in front and has fringed edges
Five pairs of gem-style stick-on earrings to add sparkle to holiday outfits
A ring with a metallic bow that comes inside a lidded ring box that says “Peace, Love, Joy” on the top
A beautiful bracelet made of multicolored faceted beads on an elastic band with a shiny metal snowflake charm
A silver metal bell ornament that really rings with a star stamped on the front and a blue satin ribbon the doll can use to hold it
A reindeer headband with glittery silver antlers
Fifty goddamn dollars. FIFTY. I actually like most of the stuff in this blasted thing and had they ponied up and made the lantern actually work, I'd probably cave because it turns out I have a lantern problem. (From my seat here, I can see 5, I know there's one behind me, and I've got three upstairs. They come in handy during hurricane season!) I like the cheery colors and the cookies are adorable. At $40, I'd probably have bitten the moment I had money. At fifty, it'll probably sell out to people who'd scoff at it normally. What a world.

Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy Doll // $250
Item#GPM62
There's something dreamlike about the way this limited-edition holiday doll shimmers and sparkles with more than 240 Swarovski® crystals. She'll light up the Land of the Sweets in reenactments of the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker. The set includes:
An 18-inch doll with brown eyes and dark purple hair in an elegant hairdo, glitter eye shadow, and glossy lips
A purple velour leotard with shirred tulle sleeves and decorated with 225 sparkling Swarovski crystals
A purple and pink watercolor-printed tutu with a silver elastic waistband
A pair of lavender tights
A pair of lavender satin ballet shoes
A metal tiara decorated with 10 amethyst Swarovski crystals
A metal heart-shaped scepter adorned with Swarovski crystals
A ribbon necklace with a star pendant
A pair of amethyst Swarovski® crystal earrings
A numbered collectible Sugar Plum Fairy Card with a story excerpt
...fuck you, AG. Glossy lips! Seriously though, this is where I admit that if I didn't already own 86 and if I weren't broker than a joke right now, I'd probably be tempted. SPF here looks very cute while I don't think she's worth what they're asking, I also don't see this being one of their more... insane markups? Like, I think I did the math before and it's basically $59 for the makeup (at the time I didn't realize that included lips) and the crystals, which I also hadn't realized were in the earrings so... yes. It's insane, but it's AG and on that level it's only mildly insane? What I've really learned is that Roxy would make an awesome Rapunzel.

Nutcracker Land of the Sweets Ornament for Dolls // $20
Item#GWN94
This Peppermint Dancer ornament embellished with Swarovski® crystals and a tulle tutu will look festive on any holiday tree.
Swarovski® is a registered trademark of Swarovski AG.
Cannot be sold to Canada
Hey, AG, when you gonna sell us a tree we can decorate?

Sparkly Silver Flats // $10
Item#GPM70
If she's getting decked out from head to toe, finish the look with these silver sparkle flats. They have crisscrossed elastic ankle straps to hold them on during dancing.
They're glittery shoes. Ooh. Ahh.

Festive Formal Outfit // $36
Item#GPM59
When the whole family gets ready for a fancy holiday gathering, this outfit is the most stylish of the season. It includes:
A white button-front shirt with a collar and rolled sleeve cuffs
A pair of fly-front black pants with sewn-in brown
A pair of suspenders that have a working button attachment
A brown-and-black plaid bowtie on an elastic band
A pair of brown loafer-style shoes
A pair of knit socks
GIMME. So yeah, this one will be mine assuming it doesn't sell out first. I'm really going to have to remember to snag this as soon as I have money because I wants. It's not exactly that it's perfect, it's more an unusual step for AG and I dig that.

RC Sports Car Pink // $225
Item#GPM73
Dolls can hit the road and find new places to visit in this sleek remote-control sports car! Includes:
A two-seat remote control sports car with working headlights, reverse lights, and horn, plus doors that open and close, a cup holder between the seats, an adjustable rear-view mirror, and seatbelts for safety
A remote control for moving forward or backward or steering left or right
A rechargeable battery with an easy-to-use charging port in the glove compartment that connects to a wall charger
A sheet of stickers to customize the license plate
Cannot be gift wrapped.
Cannot be shipped outside the US or Canada.
I feel the same way about this one as I did about the red one. It's not for me but good for AG. I get my kicks where I can and them backpedaling hardcore on the whole "dolls can't drive" thing is where I'm choosing to get said kicks. If you're lost, or not as looped up on meds as I am (is it really possible to be looped up on pain relievers and allergy meds?) , that's in reference to Julie's car being done in such a way that one could not pretend the doll was driving it, only washing or riding shotgun. Now they're just out here driving at the ripe ol' age of 9. Or whatever. Which people are outraged over because of course they are. But the people who can afford to buy their kid's doll a car and the people who would never, ever let a doll behind the wheel for pretend play are not the same demographic at all so here we are. Rose gold, bitches. (The trim was called rose gold in the catalog or something and that's all I hear when I see this thing now.)

Snow Pretty Accessories // $16
Item#GPM72
What's a holiday outfit without a few extra doses of dazzle? Add these oh-snow-sparkly accessories including:
A snowflake-shaped silver purse with sparkly embroidery, a zip top, and a webbed shoulder strap
A silver elastic bracelet with a star charm
A white beaded bracelet
A silver snowflake ring that fits 18-inch doll fingers
You can call that a silver elastic bracelet all you want, AG, but that's just a hair band waiting to have its elastic breakdown in the southern heat. Seriously, it's cheap as fuck and I do not appreciate them continuing to do this. Mostly because I still want the damn set. WHY, SELF. WHY? That ring is cute, it's true, and you can always put the charm on something else and sure, the bag is cute... but it still feels overpriced at $16.

Soft as Snow Dress // $16
Item#GPM65
There's something “snow” fancy about this short-sleeved purple velour dress. It has a mock neck and a silver sequin snowflake graphic on the front.
...is mock neck a thing? Because I see mock turtleneck as a thing, that I loathe and have always loathed, but is a mock neck a thing or just another case of whomever did the write-ups for these being obviously very busy and overlooking things?
Anyway, hate it. Love the color, love the velour, love the silver sequins, hate the dress aspect. I fully expected them to style this with leggings and yet nope, we're just out here looking like we have an extra long shirt on as an entire outfit and I can't get behind that. Mostly because it feels lazy and always has and also because I hate mock turtlenecks. Always have, always will, and I can feel them choking me from here.

Sparkle Bright Beret // $10
Item#GVH75
Top off any holiday outfit with this striking beret. It sparkles with silver threads and has a star gem on the front.
Do I love AG berets because they're cute or because I cannot wear hats and thus must live vicariously through doll fashion? These are the quality questions that keep you coming back for more, right? But also this is cute if basic and I don't hate it.

Snow Pretty Top // $10
Item#GPM64
This heather-pink ballet-neck lace top pairs perfectly with a fancy skirt or leggings all winter long. The long-sleeved tee has an iridescent glitter snowflake graphic on the front.
I think this is pretty, though the graphic is a little off-center for me. It's something that makes me wish I lived near a store so I could just pop in and buy it when I had $10 floating around, y'know?

Snow Fancy Skirt // $16
Item#GPM67
There's something super glamorous about this long icy-blue tulle ballgown skirt that glitters with tiny silver dots. It has a metallic elastic waistband.
Kay, it's probably bedtime again since I read this three times before I realized they said "super glamorous" and not super ginormous... Anyway, I love the color but I hate pairing the super casual top with this and the coat. I know that's the whole look they're going for but it's not for me, at least not with pink and blue.

Soft As Snow Coat // $18
Item#GPM69
Cold is “snow big deal” with this cozy-as-can-be white fleece coat. It has a faux-fur shawl collar, furry trim at the cuffs and hem, and a silver satin bow that ties at the waist.
I am absolutely positive I've said this before, but what the hell. Every time I see AG's white or off-white coats like this, I think of a Disney Channel sitcom villain. EVERY TIME. I have so many, why do I keep liking them? WHY? But it makes it very, very difficult to justify when I'm buying it separate. So maybe I'll just make do with the other 3 I'm sure I have around here somewhere?

Silver Sparkle Skirt // $12
Item#GPM66
This sparkly skirt is pretty enough for the fanciest holiday party! It's covered in silver sequins, so she'll shine bright when she dances and twirls.
If you were $10, you'd be an obvious GIMME, skirt. I've bought this in other color variations but I swear it was $10 then. Ah well. It'll likely be mine because who can't use a silver skirt? Exactly.

Soft and Sweet Leggings Set // $
Item#GPM68
Designed for double the festive fun, this set includes a pair of light-blue leggings with a lavender, pink, and white snowflake pattern and a pair of pink knit pointelle tights to layer under dozens of holiday looks.
This might be the possible fever talking, but I keep seeing PJ bottoms when I see the blue tights. Cute and I love the pointelle tights but that's probably from years of wanting to have the weather to justify buying/wearing them and living in Satan's armpit so never getting to. *shrug*

Sparkle Bright Boots // $16
Item#GPM71
Dolls can kick up their heels in cozy style with these glittery silver boots. They have silver bows on the outside and close in the back.
Apparently $16 is where I draw the line for doll accessory bits. For $14, I'd cave without question but at $16 I'm like, "but will they wear them?" They're dolls, self. They'll wear them if you put them on them. I wish the grey bow was actually silver and not pretending to be silver. Might be the lighting? I do love AG boots though, so we'll see.

Snow Soft and Sparkly Outfit // $36
Item#GPR76
Caroling party, school dance, or cookie baking at a friend's house? They all call for a holiday outfit that's comfy but a little bit fancy like this one! Includes:
A blue jersey dress with iridescent foil flecks, long sleeves, and a gathered short skirt
A white faux-fur vest made even more fancy with a glittery silver belt
A pair of tall faux-fur-trimmed white boots
A pair of white tights with silver spandex that makes them shimmer
A sparkling silver headband
I stand corrected. THIS is the Disney Channel show villain outfit. I'm a little confused as to why we have this and a very similar option in the Mix and Match section, but I like the dress for this one better. And the boots. Like the tights. Meh on the vest but um, yeah. I like this one for the bits and bobs. Gimme.

All That Glitters Dress for 18 inch Dolls // $36
Item#GPM58
She'll be all aglow at every holiday party in this sparkly gold dress. The outfit includes:
A cream velour dress with layers of mesh printed with golden stars and snowflakes, plus a red-and-gold velvet bow at the waist
A pair of sparkly gold shoes
A headband with a red-and-gold ribbon bow
A sparkly gold purse with a beautiful bow detail and a strap for the doll to hold
Soooooooooo I love almost everything about this except the red accents on the bow and the fact that the bodice is too plain. And that's with me zooming in and seeing there's some sparkle going on. It just looks unfinished. Maybe a necklace or something would help?

Golden Twinkle Dress for Bitty Baby // $28
Item#GPM31
Holidays are the perfect time to shine, and Bitty Baby is ready for a special celebration in this sparkly outfit. It includes:
A cream velour dress featuring layers of mesh printed with golden stars and snowflakes, plus a red-and-gold velvet bow at the waist
A pair of sparkly golden shoes with white bows on the toes
A headband with a mesh medallion and a red-and-gold velvet bow
I know I've been ignoring BB mostly, but I do love when they do matching holiday outfits so I thought I'd include this one, too. I hate the shoes but I understand them and I kinda want this dress for my Bitty Twin or Bitty of the Damned.

Glitter and Gold Dress for Wellie Wishers // $24
Item#GPM15
It's holiday party time, and the WellieWishers are all ready to get fancy and festive with friends! Time to dress up in this golden outfit that features:
A sparkly cream dress with layers of mesh printed with glittery gold stars and snowflakes and a red-and-gold velvet waistband
A pair of glittery gold shoes with cream bows on the toes
A headband with a mesh medallion and a red-and-gold velvet bow
Again, love the matching dresses across the doll lines. Again, also hate the shoes but get it. For whatever reason, I think the WW and BB dresses look fine without any embellishment on the bodice but the regular doll line needs something. Don't love the headband here, either, as I still can't quite get on board with the red/gold. Which isn't a color pairing I hate. It just...doesn't work for me for whatever reason.

Reindeer PJs for WWs // $24
Item#GPM14
The WellieWishers can get ready for sweet dreams in these snuggly holiday PJs that feature:
A long-sleeved extra-soft plush swing top with a furry white reindeer face that has dimensional ears and antlers
A pair of holiday stripe print pants with red cuffs to keep her cozy
A pair of red slippers with big white pom-poms on the toes
A red holiday-print Santa hat with plush white trim and a pom-pom
I know it says reindeer but all I see is llama. This look is so strange that it shortcircuts my brain each time I try and form any thought whatsoever beyond, "THAT'S A LLAMA!"

Peace Love and Joy PJs // $24
Item#GPM57
These PJs make it easy to celebrate the joy of the season in a long-sleeved graphic top and a pair of holiday stripe print pants, both with red cuffs. Plus, there are red knit slippers with a big white pom-pom, and a white pom-pom hair accessory.
Let us take a moment to appreciate two things. One- how beautiful not!Josefina is here. She is really trying to sell these PJs and she nearly pulls it off. Two- how much I laughed when I saw the random up-close picture of the hair pom-pom. It's just so sudden and so in your (her?) face and oh, how I laughed. But seriously, I don't love these PJs which is just as well since I love far too much in the holiday outfit category. Something had to give. So these I think are basically a case of liking the doll and the look but in reality...meh.

Reindeer PJs for BB // $24
Item#GPM30
Bitty Baby is ready to dream of holiday magic in these super-soft plush pajamas. They have a sweet embroidered reindeer face with dimensional ears and antlers, and festive red long sleeves. A red Santa hat with a holiday stripe and furry white trim tops off the outfit.
These are so delightfully batshit crazy that I want them. Stop me, please. But also don't because just look at them! INSANITY. I love it. I fear it. I need it.
(btw- I am definitely still sick. My mental reactions to things are just definitely in the "yup, sick brain at the wheel" category.)

Yog-Ahh Outfit // $34
Item#GVR02
It's time to get centered, breathe deep, and stretch with this cute-and-calm yoga outfit that includes:
A soft-pink jersey yoga cardigan with a waterfall front
A pink tie-back tank top with a metallic graphic yoga saying
A pair of pink-and-aqua animal-print leggings with contrasting waistband and ankle insets
A matching pink headband
A hot-pink yoga mat with printed graphics and contrasting straps that make it easy to carry
So you might recall that earlier in the year I went on a Crazy Ex-Girlfriend binge, yes? No? Doesn't matter. I keep getting the song I'm So Good At Yoga stuck in my head whenever I see this outfit and I should probably not be connecting those two things together ever. Also, this reminds me of when everyone came down hard on Saige for having outfits that read as more Mom appropriate than something a kid would want to wear. It's cute, I don't hate it, and I'm shocked by how little I'm bothered by it since that much pink normally triggers something inside of me to just start screaming.

Reindeer friend for Bitty // $15
Item#GPM32
This plush reindeer with a Fair Isle holiday patterned knit torso is the perfect friend for holiday adventures and nighttime snuggles. It's just under 8 inches tall and has an embroidered face and dimensional antlers.
On the one hand, see? See how this reindeer isn't white and llama looking? On the other hand, I wish it was so I could buy it for Mums. As it is, I kinda love it for me. Oops.
These are on the site but efforts to actually buy them have been mixed. No one's sure if they're PWPs that are being funneled to the site or if it's a Rewards thing or what. Still, thought I'd share with the class.

AG Star and Snow Dress for 18 inch Dolls // $36
Item#GTL40
Her doll can get all dressed up for winter celebrations in this pretty blue dress. It features long sleeves, a plaid skirt with a silver ribbon at the waist, and a snowflake star design. Also includes a matching silver headband and glittery shoes.
This shouldn't be $36 but I wants it. Basically, I'm all for AG doing more blue holiday outfits and always have been.

AG Star and Snow Dress for BB // $36
Item#GTL42
Your little one can get Bitty Baby all dressed up for winter celebrations in this pretty blue dress. It features long sleeves, a plaid skirt with a silver ribbon at the waist, and a snowflake star design. Also includes a matching silver headband and glittery shoes.
This is the rare outfit that they did pretty much identically across the board. Including BB just to be thorough.

AG Star and Snow Dress For Wellies // $36
Item#GTL41
Her WellieWishers doll can get all dressed up for winter celebrations in this pretty blue dress. It features long sleeves, a plaid skirt with a silver ribbon at the waist, and a snowflake star design. Also includes a matching silver headband and glittery shoes.
This is most definitely not worth $36. Sorry, AG. It's cute and again, I love the look across the various doll types, but there's nothing about this that's worth the higher price. The headband is not worth the extra cash, the shoes are molded (which is standard for WW and probably part of why they're usually less expensive) plastic and there aren't tights. Soooooooo.... I'm not sure why each version is the same price.

Item#GPJ44
Julie knows that the grooviest way to celebrate her birthday is with a barbecue at the beach with her friends and family. For her special day, she wears:

Like, yes, I love purple with an unholy passion, but her original dress was perfection. I do however get massive Dawn Schafer vibes from this so uh, yeah. It's on the want list.

A reindeer headband with glittery silver antlers
Fifty goddamn dollars. FIFTY. I actually like most of the stuff in this blasted thing and had they ponied up and made the lantern actually work, I'd probably cave because it turns out I have a lantern problem. ...fuck you, AG.

Date: 2020-10-07 09:52 pm (UTC)I do however get massive Dawn Schafer vibes from this so uh, yeah. It's on the want list.
MY EXACT THOUGHT OMG. That Julie outfit is so Dawn it hurts, LOL. All it needs is a straw handbag.
WTF on those birthday gifts, tho. A fake Lava lamp? A two-toned mood ring? BOR-RING.
Fun fact: I have an irrational hatred for Elf on the Shelf.
Sugar Plum Fairy: Those lips don't look too glossy to me. The promised glittery eyes are a bit of a letdown, too. They should've just let it be a total surprise, I think that would've been more impressive! (Not $250 worth of impressive, but better than a promise they ultimately couldn't meet.)
That car is remote control? Fancy! Back when I was a kiddie, we had to manually push the Barbie car to make it move, LOL. (Yes, I had a Barbie car. And an OG dream house, which was mostly cardboard. I loved both and played the hell out of both items.)
The "Soft as Snow" dress just looks lazy. Mock necks without long sleeves? WTF?? Beret is cute, tho.
FULL AGREE on those llama pajamas. Reindeer, my foot!
Sign me up for any blue holiday outfit 😍

Date: 2020-10-08 06:58 am (UTC)Honestly, at this point any of Julie's outfits that scream Dawn should just appear by magic at my door with a note from AG telling me what I owe them because it will happen. But thank goodness someone else sees it.
I hadn't even realized her ring only switched from blue to red. No, AG, Julie's ring was blue because it was warm outside. :P
In most cases, I want to punch good ol' Elf but I do like when people I know get into it so it's weird.
The lips may not be glossy but they are piiiiiiiiiiiink and since AG's been on a weird nude or orange lip kick lately, they stand out. Agreed on the glittery eyes being a letdown, though I do like what they did and I'm waiting for the Etsy crowd to dupe it since it's just AG swiping the eyeliner decal thing from them in the first place. Loving people freaking out about her eye color though since literally the same as 86 and Tenney, people. The eyes themselves are not a new color. Someone mentioned that they were kind of hoping for purple eyes and while I think it'd probably be too matchy matchy for the look, I still swooned a bit at the thought.
My kid self is most jealous of your kid self. No car here, though I think I eventually wound up with like the dollar store version of a limo? Or maybe I just got to use Ari's enough that my memories threw them together. And the dreamhouse! Envy!
I've never understood the mock turtleneck/short sleeve combo and yet it's a thing. Whyyyyyyyyy. Are vampire attacks that much of a worry?
Yes, vindication! Someone else gets llama and not reindeer!
Blue holiday outfits forever!

Ooh, do keep us updated on this! Sounds like prime fandom wank material, going tit-for-tat like that after fannish creators.
I'm pretty sure my Barbie Dream House was like the 1983 version from this article: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/a25364/barbies-dreamhouse-history/ except I don't remember my elevator being enclosed plastic. That elevator was the best, though. I do remember spending hours sending stuff up and down it, and pretending that it was an apartment building. I had such a fascination with apartments as a kid, I have no idea why, LOL.
Let me see if I can find a picture of the Barbie car I had...it was a red convertible... Wow, it was a Ferrari?! That I don't remember, LOL, though the pictures from the inside (aka the stickers) look about right: https://www.hagerty.com/media/market-trends/barbies-9-greatest-cars/
I had lots of good times with my Barbies back in the day. I definitely played with them "longer than I should have," I suppose, but I played by myself so it was nice to have a variety of dolls for my play. I remember that my favorite doll was actually Midge.
Sadly, my father chucked all of my toys while I was away at college. I'm still mad at him for that because he did it without telling me. I'd love to be able to go back and see what I had as a kid because of course I didn't appreciate it quite as much as I would as an adult.
