Jan. 27th, 2021 01:18 pmFirst doctor's appointment down, two to go. Yesterday's went pretty well from what I could tell. Mom did really well getting around and she had the energy to get her blood drawn (at home because why not take advantage of that perk) and work out her health insurance issues for a couple of hours yesterday.
Yay!
I've been pretty quiet because I'm still having to segment my day and I did resume sorting through old mail around here (and for awhile that included trying to go through old email. Double ugh). I'm now in the middle of two books so that means that while I read and mentally cheer for you, I haven't commented as much or written.
I found myself accidentally drawn to Essie polishes again. I don't know how or why as I can go months without really noticing them at all (and years without buying) but every so often one will pop up and say, "me. Buy me. Now." And frequently I ignore them because Essies are still so very hit or miss for me, though they have gotten much better. Also, I did buy the Halloween line (or a good chunk of it) and thought that would keep me safe. Only I've still been wanting that one red from their fall line (why, self? You wear like, one red polish a year and it's poor Spidey Sense which has reached the halfway mark.) and I suspect this made me weak when it came to the most random assortment of colors. Behold:

L-R:
Adrenaline Brush (Fall 2020), Madrid it for the 'Gram (Target "Keep Me Posted" exclusive 2021), You Know The Espadrille (Spring 2021), Rome Around (same collection as Madrid), and Wink of Sleep (Not Red-y For Bed 2020).
I'm not really sure how or why I wound up buying an orange and a yellow, though I will admit that I've slowly become a fan of certain oranges. And yellows are always a safe bet on the "don't have that shade" scale because I think I have maybe three yellows. :P Rome there is probably the one I've likely got in some other form but it's been SO LONG since I bought anything that shade. And I like the little postage bits on the caps. Wink there is also probably a shade I have a thousand times over but every goddamn review calls this a blue and it's very clearly a purple in every swatch I've ever seen so I must know.
I have a couple of other polish-y things ordered but they'll get here when they get here. One's a lucky bag where you could ask for certain colors or finishes to be excluded and I've nearly pulled the trigger on that brand a few times by now. And I'm eying a few more because why not. Mostly I'm content to look.
Now. Back to my book!

Date: 2021-01-29 01:19 am (UTC)Black Dahlia Lacquer did a trio of Lucky Bags which I always forget is a thing they do until MSA mentions them and then I remember I've wanted to try them as they keep coming up as a good brand. I went for whatever the smallest bag is and basically so long as they don't send me lavender nail oil, I'm hopeful I'll like most of the stuff.
Did you see the new Insta Dri polishes? I obviously haven't seen them in store, but I saw them...somewhere online. IG, mebbe? Prismatic Shine is new or at least new-ish, yes? Or am I that out of the loop?

Date: 2021-01-29 02:05 am (UTC)I hadn't seen the new InstaDri polishes. I switched pharmacies a couple of years ago so I don't have an excuse to go to CVS every month like I used to. AFAIK that is a new line. Honestly, you'd know better than me what's new or LE since you work in retail hell.
But yes, I wants those Prismatic colors!! *grabby hands* I might have to make a stop at CVS this weekend...
I'll have to check out Black Dahlia Lacquers a little more closely. They definitely have some pretty colors, but their popup is in an awkward place on my tablet screen :P

Ugh, I hate awkward pop-ups. There are a few places that just make it impossible to shop or even window-shop. :/

Date: 2021-01-29 03:38 am (UTC)I just went to WnW and spent $37, mostly on their clearance aisle 😆 They have had a bunch of LE collections that I have been unaware of, including nail polishes in last year's Fantasy Makers bunch! They've also released a couple of new Fast Dry colors that I snapped up.

Date: 2021-01-30 06:34 pm (UTC)I peeked at the site and is it wrong I kinda love the bottles for the Fantasy Makers polish? Perhaps to balance out my hatred (still) of their regular line. The Valentine's Day pink looks like foundation to me and I keep thinking it is. I look forward to the haul!
