AG release for May
May. 10th, 2022 06:51 amSo last Thursday AG dropped their monthly release. We're gonna talk about that and then probably loop back around and discuss their sales and stuff at the end, but they do currently have a fair chunk of newer (last month's release) stuff on the monthly sale AND there's a new extra points sale going on so if that's your jam or you see something you need, well, it's on sale in some form or another I think. Also, they've changed something on their website (they've gone full Shopify) so pictures are gonna be weird mebbe?

Casual Campsite Outfit for Dolls // $34
Item#HGP97
This outfit is perfect for hiking or hanging out by the campfire. It includes:
A faux button-down shirt that has two sizes of aqua checked print, flowers on the chest, and a tie waist
A pair of cuffed denim shorts with distressed details
A printed floral headband
A pair of coral knit socks
A pair of boots with aqua laces and flowers printed on the toes
On the one hand, I absolutely love this outfit SO much. The aqua color, the fact that it's on a redhead (stop making me want a classic mold, AG!), it's giving me very serious Maryellen vibes... On the other hand, those shoes are straight up plastic. AG, your shoe game used to be amazing with occasional pops of meh and even less occasional (not including the original trio's Meet shoes) total fails. But your recent flirtations and dalliances with full on plastic shoes is making even the die hards say fuck this shit. Look at your sales, look at your choices, and maybe use the one functioning braincell again? Because this? This whole look is something I suspect OG could churn out at a fraction of the price and you can't even pretend the quality will be that much worse. Those flowers on the shirt look sloppily painted on (I know it's a decal), so it's not even like the shoes were sacrificed for embroidery detail.
We're only one piece in and it's a mess the absolute second you look closer. Oof.

Get Outside Camper // $325
Item#HGL95
It's a great adventure to explore the great outdoors in a comfy camper. This teardrop-shaped camper has a main cabin with a skylight, a flip-down table, and a couch that converts to a bed that fits two dolls. The kitchen area in the back has a countertop, flip-down sink, and shelves to store all the food. There are two working lights inside for nighttime and an adjustable speaker that plays three songs and two nature sounds. The set also includes:
Two square fabric pillows with a colorful stripe print
A printed fabric-covered mattress that can be folded from a bed into a couch
A floral-print fabric blanket with quilting
A pretend camp stove with two burners and knobs that turn—it folds up to store in the back of the camper
A yellow cooler that fits in the back of the camper when mealtime is over
A pretend flashlight that stores in the door of the camper for quick access during the night
A yellow water bottle with a heart graphic
A milk jug and a container of orange juice
A pot, a pan, and a spatula for cooking up camp food
A carton of eggs, a fried egg with bacon, and a container of pancake mix for breakfast
Two speckled bowls and two plates
A salt shaker and a pepper shaker
A box and two servings of macaroni and cheese
A small plant to decorate the space
A printed journal with camping notes
Two sticker sheets for decorating the inside and outside of the camper
I want all the little things for this but I'd never buy this mostly because I don't have $325 to blow on something that would take up room I don't have. But I still really like looking at this. Like if someone bought this and did picture stories or something, I'd be all in on that. I love the fact that AG is marketing this as a TM item (which it is), but also giving you modern!Maryellen vibes and also marketing it with Corinne's collection. I dig it and absolutely did not think that I would.

Get Outside Camp Table and Chairs Set // $60
Item#HGL96
Everything tastes better when you eat outside, and the perfect campsite meal is minutes away with this set that includes:
A pale-green folding table with legs that fold up so the table can be stored inside the camper
Two folding sling-seat chairs with colorful striped fabric
Two blue plates with a cute teardrop camper graphic
Two metal forks
A yellow mug and a green mug with camping graphics on the sides
Two melon slices
Two pancakes and a maple leaf-shaped container of syrup
Two frosted cinnamon buns
A doll-sized American Girl® UNO® game with a plastic travel case—girls can play it too!
A pretend container of bug spray to keep pests away
AG, honey, darling, sugar... baby. That's not an AG UNO game. That's an AG SIZED game and one would make me buy this set should it go on sale beyond points while the other would not. Guess which one you chose?
With that being said, I really love a lot about this set and I'm making a mental note to see if it'll go on sale at a price I'd be okay with paying. Also, good on you, AG, for making food that does not look terrible for a change. But seriously, that UNO thing is kinda a bummer.

Corinne's Camping Outfit // $34
Item#HHB59
When Corinne goes camping with her family, she's ready for any kind of adventure in this outfit that includes:
A short-sleeved jersey tee with a multicolored zigzag pattern
A fuzzy blue vest with a zip front and an embroidered mountain logo on the chest
A pair of pull-on leggings with a blue-and-green ombre print
A pair of multicolored sandals with printed straps
I want to like this more than I do. I think a big part of my problem with it is that I hate grey when it's paired with chartreuse. I'm trying to decide if I'd like the shirt better if the grey swapped with the purple/pink in the shoes, or if they'd just gone in with black instead. Actually, the dark blue on her leggings would've been divine. *muse* The grey is pretty faithful to the artwork and I'm glad they didn't give her a grey vest so... there's that. It's not my favorite but I hope kids feel differently and love it.

Corinne's Camping Accessories // $37
Item#HHB60
Corinne carries this backpack when she's hiking Ajax Mountain with Flurry and Cassidy so that she has everything she needs. It includes:
A bright-blue backpack with green webbing straps and a “High Altitude Life” patch
A dark-blue baseball cap with an “Inspired Adventure” logo
A pink-and-blue canteen with a strap
A trail guide that her stepdad teaches Corinne how to read
A pretend green apple for a mid-hike snack
A faux granola bar
I am underwhelmed by this. I'd normally be all over a mini backpack but this one doesn't fully do it for me. I kind of appreciate the hat just sitting terribly on her head as I too have problems with hats looking stupid on me, but I'm also willing to accept/bet that maybe they just plunked it down over her hair buns so, yeah. Eh. Maybe I'm still burned by Kira's backpack. I do like the colors though.

Corinne's Baby Brother Blix // $42
Item#HHX66
Blix is Corinne and Gwynn's new baby brother. This set comes with:
A baby doll with brown eyes and brown painted hair
A fuzzy bear bodysuit with ears, blue feet, and a button front
A cloth diaper
A pale-purple baby carrier with a handle that can be moved into a variety of positions
A patterned fabric pad that goes in the carrier
A faux bottle with purple handles and a permanently attached lid
Blix is absolutely adorable. Blix is also painfully overpriced. o_O I will likely cave and grab him as I do think he's cute as hell but it'll have to be during a sale of some sort, and alas, not this sale as I haven't the money.
Overall, for this release, it's not bad it's just got various issues. Why didn't Gwynn get anything? She's not even pictured with Blix and it's not like she wasn't billed as a co-GOTY doll soooooooo...
I'll probably cave at some point on the TM camping outfit, Blix, and maybe Corinne's outfit should it go on sale when I have money.
Speaking of sales:
If you're interested in Courtney's older stuff (including her Care Bear stuff), it's on sale.
A good chunk of Kira's stuff is on sale and surprisingly, so is Corinne's and Gwynn's stuff. :/ I suppose it sort of makes sense in that almost all of their stuff is geared for winter but also... dude.
If you were interested in the LoveShackFancy stuff, it's there.
But most vexing of all is Kira's brand new outfit is on sale for 30% off. This thing went on sale before a lot of people got their orders in, or right after they got them in. WTF, AG? (That said, uh, highly recommend if it's your thing.)
