I got my leetle tree! :D I have spent an embarrassingly long time trying to grab one of these and I finally did.


Yesterday's bank trip was mostly painless, aside from the sun being very, very bright. I got to skip the line because I wasn't there for whatever normal business was suffering terribly due to a lag in the system. Not sure if there's something going on with my bank or it's just that time of year, but despite it being fairly early in the day, the guy who helped me said I was maybe the sixth person to have come in for fraud reasons. I'm hoping he didn't mean the sixth person that morning but I guess that's possible since it was a long weekend.


Started the new Interview With The Vampire and it is stupidly good. I'm still not sold on the decision to age up Claudia further than the movie did because it does rob her of part of the tragedy that is inherent in Claudia's character BUT I do get the real world practicality of it. And clearly the actress is having all sorts of fun.

L&L are an absolute delight and Daniel calling Louis out on his bullshit is perfection and that probably helps ease the Claudia sting. It's one of those things I only forgive because I don't see a practical way of having a kid on this set for as long as Claudia would need to be, and character wise she's needed. But I don't fault anyone for not wanting to watch for her alone, given how important her being an actual child was/is.

I still do not understand how a show this good has such a terrible trailer. Like...HOW.

Yeah, there's definitely not a practical way to do her unless they filmed a ton of her stuff ahead of time or shortened her storyline, both of which aren't really that unfeasible. They could have had an older teen with a new name and then a younger child playing Claudia for a season or two. Or they could have, say, kidnapped/saved Claudia when she was young and then not vamped her until later. I see ways around it that don't involve going straight to an actor that's 14 years older than the character. They may make her an interesting character as a teen vamp. It's a storyline that could also work. But it doesn't have even a quarter of her actual horror level and it puts into question what they're going to do with her, because back in those days, 14 wasn't that young and will the other vamps even care enough to kill her?

True, true. I'm guessing they'll lean harder on Claudia 'killing' Lestat as the reason to take her out? With Louis getting by on being Louis. Guessing part of the moving it to the 1910's/1920's was to make 14 younger than it would've been earlier, among other things.
