I always forget that Fall brings allergies like Spring. Right now I'm doing okay but that's literally a development as of 20 minutes or so ago? I'd tried picking my walking back up due to the nice and cool weather and I'm guessing yesterday's walk was a bad idea given the yard work going on and all the dust blowing around because at some point yesterday afternoon my head started to hurt. I chalked that up to caffeine withdrawal and tried to remedy it by finishing off one of my Dr. Peppers and taking some not-Tylenol. Yeah, the headache receded enough to kick in my sinuses screaming my face off, so I tried sleep. Which didn't work as well as I hoped, though at some point it did die down enough for me to get up and shower and begin today.

Yeah, it roared back to life and not even the ibuprofen could deal. I have NFI where the benadryl is, and couldn't take it anyway because Mums and I were supposed to hit the store but she also feels like her sinuses are under attack, so she dosed herself and will wake up to try again in a bit.

I did my nails and tried to watch the new Monster High movie. It took eons to actually get the movie to work (wtf, Paramount+?) but I did and um... I still think this version of G3 is adorable. Frankie remains my favorite while Lagoona remains criminally underused. I expected more from Toralei.

One thing does bug me, though I do think they tried to address it. Draculaura has left MH to go and try to make peace with the witches, but refuses to come home when Clawdeen and Frankie ask her to before she gets busted by her father and risks expulsion from the school. I really liked the fact that it wasn't framed like Draculaura was in the wrong here; if everything had been on the up and up, she was on the cusp of changing the world for the better, right?

So why does she cave when she sees Clawdeen losing the prefect race? Her returning to school won't win the race for Clawdeen and the witch/vampire peace treaty is still important. This immediately doesn't matter because of course the witches are lying and using Draculaura (way to play the long con, Z) but it still felt...weird.

Damn I wish the animated episodes were easier to hunt down without having Nickelodeon or having to buy the season on Amazon.

Also I knew I'd walk away wanting MH dolls.

I loved the movie and Toralei was the clear star for me, though Frankie held their own for a close second fave.

My big issue is that witches are clearly a threat to monsters. They even have a metal specifically designed to hurt/kill them. Toralei informs us of this, showing her scars as evidence. It seems a pretty known fact. So I was firmly Team Toralei the entire time, because Clawdeen knows ONE witch, who is simply a vampire that practices witchcraft, and not even a witch that KNOWS other witches or really anything about being a human witch and what world they have. So she knows one witch who doesn't actually represent witches and their anti-monster stance. Yet she's all for equality without even listening to Toralei or monster history. And she's presented as being in the right, even after the whole Z tried to kill a ton of vampires thing. Sure, Laura is a pretty badass witch, which she totally got robbed of more visual asskickery in that scene, but even she never has a moment of "Hey, maybe we should actually look into this whole witch thing a bit more because they seem pretty shitty except for me and one other dude." Not even after they tried to kill her and her dad and who knows how many other vampires. Like did you all learn anything?

Also, if that metal only hurts monsters, Clawdeen struggled with it in wolf form...why? She has a human form. Just turn back, stick your foot through the bars and kick Laura in the shins. No near-death scene needed.

I found Cleo terribly underused and definitely also Lagoona. Cleo and her scarabs saved the day, so that makes two day-savings for her. That's my ghoul. I enjoyed more of Heath. I've always liked Heath. But it would have been nice for Abbey and Ghoulia to do something more, too. And Demi! I adored her! I wish we'd get a doll.

Nitpicking aside, I still loved it. Better than the first one.
