impyTis the season for AG holiday dolls. It should've also been the season for Halloween, but they just recycled last year's stuff. Good for my wallet, sad for my soul, especially since I STG, they had to mark most of them way down to get rid of them. Then again, since they're back, I wonder if they DID get rid of them?

AG is calling this one the doll with brown hair and the Claudie mold is the dark brown hair, but to me this is giving AG's darker blonde vibes. I'm not gonna fight them on it, as some people have odd ideas on what blonde is, but the case could be made for either and besides, with Summer set to debut in TWO DAYS, I get not wanting to have two blondes back to back. Anyway, I think she's beautiful but she is really giving me Lila sans freckles and with grey eyes vibes. I wonder if Lila will gets a sales bump when people realize how similar the two are, particularly if this doll sells out.
I'm also getting serious Princess Peach and PJ Sparkles vibes, which is nice, but for all I'll defend pink these days against "rawr, all pink is bad actually!" types, it's still not usually my favorite and it makes this easy to pass on. I do love the doll, though.

The Claudie version is also quite prettifuls. I do wonder what the split for these two is, considering how white AG's sales skew. I'm glad AG's using the Claudie mold more and I think she's particularly suited to these shades of pink. Not sure how I feel about the amber eyes as I'm not sure if that's what's washing her out a bit or if it's the more berry/neutral lips. Something isn't quite gelling for me, but it's also entirely possible this is just AG's incredible failtography at work. I feel bad saying that as, in general, I think they've been doing better and also I don't think these pics are bad, but sometimes their promo dolls don't always look like what you'll actually receive.
Of the two, I think Claudie here has the more cohesive look somehow. I love the highlights in her hair and the curls, though I am twitching at the thought of how these will look after given to children, as you know some will be. Sigh. Anyway, I do also wish they had painted nails.
Not sure I'll ever really get the Swarovski Crystals thing, though. These just look bedazzled, y'know? Perhaps I am simply not cultured enough. :P

Okay, we might as well just discuss them all as one because it's literally just existing dolls in new outfits. I think 127 pulls off the Vest outfit the best, to the point that my shiny brain immediately went "ooh, we should buy!" even though I have to be super picky these days due to space and money, but dang, she's purdy in that outfit. Don't love her as much in the others, but metallic purple is apparently her color.
111 reminds me of someone but I know not who, and I'm still not loving what they've done to the Jess mold these days. Like classic, the mouth feels wonky now?
117 is giving serious Alyssa Milano vibes, which is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, kid!me loved Alyssa. On the other, damn did the later seasons (and pretty much everything after) of Charmed bring that love down and stomp it all out. Doll is cute though, and if I were keeping on my Charmed dolls to go with Prue, 117 here would be an easy Phoebe.
125 is also very pretty. In general, she probably pulls the whole ~look~ off best for me, but she's still not topping 127 in the vest look.
I do think it's a bit of a cheat that they say 2 recital outfits when you don't have three actual tops, and you're just reusing the sequin leo for both recital outfits. I know the sneakers are a bit of a cheat, but my love of purple and sparkle means I love them anyway, and I kinda love the socks in a weird way? Also, I think I made this clear but if not, I looooooooove the vest. Do I have anything it would pair well with? Dunno, but I love it. It's basically a doll and a $60 outfit/accessory set, which isn't terrible for AG these days, and in some cases the outfits here are better than the ones the dolls would normally come with. Plus this way you hit free shipping.
Will I buy? Nope, gotta save my money for Punzie and Summer. But the Costco sets rarely truly tempt me so this isn't new.
