AG Holiday preview
Sep. 24th, 2024 07:34 amAG's doing a preview of their new Janie and Jack holiday collab and before I take my raging headache to bed, I thought I'd share. The collection is supposed to be out on the 26th, and apparently there's other (non J&J stuff) in store, but since I started this before they put this on the site in a nice little preview section, you get my chaotic version. You're welcome.

AG x Janie and Jack Holiday Plaid Skirt // $14
Item#HYJ02
Give a nod to seasons past with this festive skirt designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack and made to match the Holiday Plaid Skirt for Girls. Pair this plaid holiday skirt for 18-inch dolls with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection.
Includes:
A rosy-pink plaid taffeta skirt with a smocked waistband and two ruffled tiers—inspired by Addy’s™ taffeta tartan plaid dress and updated with a modern color palette and silhouette
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
Okay, I need to know if people are going to handle the "inspired by Addy's dress" bit well or if it's gonna go full shitstorm. I NEED TO KNOW. Particularly with it being shown on not!Taylor Swift there. As it is, I like it well enough. I'm still very much on my reconcilliation with pink journey and only very recently became okay with pink nails for the holidays so... eh. On the other hand, I mean, Valentine's Day and pink are things.

Holiday Rose Skirt // $14
Item#HYJ03
Bring a rosy glow to the holiday season with this skirt designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack. This lace holiday skirt with embroidered rosettes for 18-inch dolls is made to match the Holiday Rose Skirt for Girls. Pair with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection for more mix-and-match looks.
Includes:
A cream lace skirt with rose embroidery and satin lining—inspired by Kirsten’s™ winter outfit and Scandinavian sweater set
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
I... don't get Kirsten's sweater set from this like at all. I think it's pretty and delicate and I want but I do not get that inspo at all. Or, rather, I get it but only if I'm being very generous but I'd never have gotten it on my own, y'know?

Holiday Plaid Dress // $18
Item#HYL10
Shades of berry and pink make for a perfect plaid that’s sure to be a holiday staple. Designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack, this plaid holiday dress for 18-inch dolls pairs with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection for more mix-and-match looks.
Includes:
A plaid taffeta dress with a halter neckline, a ruffle hem, and a black velvet ribbon at the waist
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
I feel like we've already seen this dress before and I don't mean in leaks. I feel like AG's already sold us this dress before. o_O I'll likely grab it because it feels like it'll work with a variety of things they've put out previously and I am contractually obligated to like black velvet so there's that.

Wrapped in Bows Top // $14
HYJ05
Bows and lace are the perfect pair to tie any holiday look together. This knit holiday top for 18-inch dolls was designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack and made to match the Wrapped in Bows Top for Girls. Pair with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack® Collection to create sweet seasonal looks.
Includes:
A pink puff-sleeved French terry top with lace trim down the center accented with three black velvet bows—inspired by delicate details from Samantha’s™ and Addy’s™ holiday dresses
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
Liked this more before I saw the lace up close. Fringe like elements and I do not play well together. Did we finally swap out those weird vanity tags for embroidered stars? In any case, I'll likely be trying for this because I do like pink, black, and white.

Holiday Rose Ballet Flats // $12
Item#HYH99
Delight in the rosy details of these elegant holiday flats designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack. Mix and match these ballet flats for 18-inch dolls with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection.
Includes:
A pair of black ballet-flat shoes with pointed toes, pink satin ankle straps, and pink rosettes at the toes
Remember when we would delight over AG shoes? God, I miss those days. These are fine, I guess. I don't like pink and red together all that much but they aren't egregiously horrible. Just meh.

Frosty Accessory Set // $18
Item#HYJ00
Bring a festive and frosty flourish to any holiday look. This accessory set for 18-inch dolls with a faux-fur beret and necklace was designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack and pairs well with all the pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection.
Includes:
A faux-fur cream-colored beret with a pompom—a throwback to the iconic tam from Samantha’s™ winter outfit
A golden metal necklace inspired by Samantha’s™ heart locket brooch
This inspo is so obvious I clocked it before I even saw the damn set fully. And since Samantha's hat and muff set was one of the few AG accessory sets kid!me had, I will be unable to be objective about this. It's cute and I need that necklace because duh. The hat looks goofy as hell in this combo though.

Rose Fair Isle Sweater Set // $14
Item#HYJ04
Cozy, rosy, and classically chic. This holiday sweater for 18-inch dolls—designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack—is made to match the Rose Fair Isle Sweater for Girls. It effortlessly pairs with the other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection.
Includes:
A black-and-white Fair Isle sweater with rose details along the neckline, hem, and cuffs—inspired by Kirsten’s™ winter outfit and Scandinavian sweater set
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
Okay, this one I get the Kirsten vibes. I'm guessing since the skirt was made to go with this, they figured that would be enough to carry it? Doesn't matter, I love the idea of this sweater enough that I'll buy it. As it is, if I'm honest, the execution seems bland and a bit blown out/blurry at the hem/cuffs, but a black sweater direct from AG? Yeah, I'm gonna need at least one.

Winter White Jacket // $20
Item#HYJ06
This snowy seasonal jacket is designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack and is a must for the holiday season. Made to match the Winter-White Jacket for Girls, this faux white fur jacket for 18-inch dolls also pairs with other pieces in the American Girl® x Janie and Jack Collection for more mix-and-match looks.
Includes:
A winter-white faux-fur jacket with satin lining
An American Girl® x Janie and Jack hanger
And now the muppet jacket in white for winter. Do you think AG realizes they could, in theory, do other colors? I guess the hat looks less goofy when paired with this, but this outfit (the jacket/hat/skirt) is just hilarious to me.

Holly Red Party Dress // $40
Item#HYJ07
Make holly-red her holiday color this season. This red party dress for 18-inch dolls was designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack. Create matching moments with the Holly-Red Party Dress for Girls.
Includes:
A red satin dress that takes inspiration from Kit’s™ and Samantha’s™ holiday dresses, featuring a cream lace collar and a satin bow sash along the waist
A matching satin-wrapped headband with a red chiffon rosette
A red patent round purse with red and pink chiffon rosettes
A pair of red patent ballet flats with red chiffon rosettes at the toes
I don't get a ton of the Kit inspiration for the doll version, but I totally get the Sam inspiration. For whatever reason, I get more of Kit from the dress for girls though upon closer inspection I couldn't tell you why. In any case, I like this more than I like Kit's dress but less than I like the idea of Samantha's (though probably more than I like my version of her dress). I think this one actually has its best version in the one for little girls and had I the money for it, I'd actually buy it for the eldest goddaughter because it's that pretty. Alas. It's available for Bitty Baby and my fave doll version is probably the Wellie Wishers version. I do wish the doll versions were the same shade of red as the older girl's version.

Overall, I like the idea of using AG's historicals as inspiration for new outfits. I really love the black sweater outfit and the Frosty accessories, specifically because of the nostalgia bombs. I'll likely try and pick most of these up simply because holiday AG stuff makes me happy and I've yet to be really disappointed in any of the J&J AG collab stuff. I am kinda sad they don't have a boy outfit this year though.
