It just doesn't feel like the holidays

impyI know it's a yearly thing for everyone to bitch and moan about how it doesn't feel like the holidays, but... it doesn't feel like the holidays. It's Christmas freakin' Eve and I don't feel much of a spark at all. The closest I've come is acknowledging that work tonight is either gonna just be flat out so busy I wind up having a coughing fit in front of customers (again!) OR we wind up with new WTF stories. Just so busy it's boring or new horrors. Yay?
But the tree looks quite pretty, someone gave me a tiny but pretty powerfully pine scented candle so I still get that hit of nostalgia, and yet I feel nothing. I suspect a big chunk of this is because I've been sick and usually rely on my last couple of weeks before the holiday to really kick into holiday spirit mode but couldn't this year because I caught the ick.
Sigh.
After the holiday, I need to buy some red embroidery floss and work on making the new stockings match. I figure I'll start with mine to get the kinks worked out. I nearly ran into JoAnn's yesterday but didn't because I had to save my social battery for braving Food Lion two days before Christmas. I hated nearly everything about it. I've learned I am now a cranky old southern lady because I was irked by the number of dudes who didn't think twice about cutting in and around the women around them. Back in my day men had manners, dammit. *shakes stick*
Had my likely final McRib of the season. It's weird having it be available at Christmas, as I tend to think of it as a fall thing and don't you go and give me that "well, fall just ended!" nonsense-logic. It was fine. Turns out the Walmart McDonald's makes better food. Who knew?
Gonna go light my candle and rustle up the cookie recipe to see if maybe snarfing cookies will help.

It broke my routine but ultimately worked out. I made cookie dough this morning, too! I swear, the mind-meld sometimes LOL.

The night was surprisingly not as busy as I thought. Still too busy to do much but not crazy busy. Merry Christmas!
