On Mondays AG releases Wednesday (Addams)
Jul. 22nd, 2025 07:45 amSoooooo... AG decided to drop a new collab while everyone was still reeling from the Clueless collab. We swing to the other side of things for Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday Addams by American Girl Collector Doll // $295
Item#JGN84
Curious, fiercely intelligent, and allergic to color, Wednesday Addams tackles life with courage and confidence. Celebrate this iconic character with the Wednesday Addams by American Girl® Collector Doll, featuring her signature look: long black pigtail braids, dark fingernails, and black velvet dress. By her side is the beloved member of the Addams clan and Wednesday’s closest confidant, Thing. But beware: she also travels with two bags of hungry piranhas. This limited-edition American Girl® 18-inch collector doll was designed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. No more than 6,000 Wednesday Addams by American Girl® Collector Dolls have been created worldwide.
Premium features:
An 18” Wednesday Addams doll with dark brown eyes that open and close, freckles, long black hair styled in two pigtail braids with bangs, and black nail polish on her fingers and toes. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
A black velvet dress featuring a white sateen Peter Pan collar, white sateen cuffs, allover white embroidery, and black buttons down the front
A faux-obsidian necklace that flips between the initials “W” and “M”—a gift from Wednesday’s mother, Morticia
A Thing figurine featuring wounds and stitches details
Two faux plastic bags of piranhas swimming in water, as featured in the opening scene of the series Wednesday
Also includes:
A pair of black kitten-heel Mary Jane shoes, a pair of black cotton tights, and a pair of black cotton underwear
A numbered certificate of authenticity
When I tell you I nearly dropped my phone when I got the text about this... Seriously, even having seen the little promo teaser with Thing and the typewriter did not prepare me for how much I love this. To be fair, I have loved Wednesday Addams since the old TV show, and I am very much just the right age group to have then fallen in love with Christina Ricci's Wednesday, and yes, Jenna Ortega's too.
Let's get my issues out of the way first.
1) Netflix's Thing creeps me out, and the dollified version of that does as well. It's very uncanny valley for me. This is very much a me issue though, and it's not enough to hold me back.
2) The price. Nothing about this is worth what AG's asking. At least the Disney/Holiday dolls slap on sparkles aplenty to make you think you're paying for more than you really are. I do realize that AG's probably paying a pretty penny for licensing fees, but the MH collabs were expensive but not quite so egregious.
3) They should've spaced out this and the Clueless collabs. I'm sorry, there's no reason they were released this close to each other. But uh, good job making those look absolutely cheap in comparison?
Now, onto things I love. Take a seat, we'll be here awhile. I love that we didn't get the Classic mold, though since this is Jenna's Wednesday, Josefina probably is the best fit anyway. Very cute, love.
Freckles! I'm pretty sure we all know how I feel about doll freckles, particularly AG freckles, right? LOVE. GIVE THEM TO ME. *grabby hands* Love the wig, AG needs more black haired dolls in their lineup, please and thank you. The dress is very cute and possibly the thing that inches this a little closer to what they're asking for it, since it is embroidered all over and that does take more time.
PIRANHAS! I saw those and immediately tried to add her to cart before I saw the price. They amuse the hell out of me, and seeing that AG had to specify that they're faux? Killed me.
Nail polish! Specifying that she's the first AG doll with black polish is also killing me and I do love it.
The necklace!
The shoes are a couple of steps above their usual black shoes and I appreciate that.
I love the packaging, though I feel like they could've leaned more into the casket theme for the box. As it is, the inside is giving scales more than casket.
The photoshoot they did for her? Swoon. It's giving me flashbacks to when you'd get the holiday catalogs and they'd go out and just make things look deliciously over the top. Or, in this case, just the right amount of spooky.
The pearl clutching. It's already been outweighed by the people declaring their love for Wednesday, but the people horrified by AG dipping their toes into horror (I'm sorry, dolls are already in horror for a lot of people)... like Wednesday Addams herself is culturally barely in horror, and while technically this is the Netflix adaptation which does skew more towards horror, she's still freakin' Wednesday. Think of the children! I mean... I'd argue that having Isabel be a Clueless fan was probably a little more inappropriate than this being marketed to adults and possibly the elusive teen market that's still willing to buy/play with dolls. You do you, pearl-clutchers. I will be over here sobbing at the price.

Normally I don't include the stuff like this, but so many of these made me laugh, smirk, or cackle. There's only one that made me full body cringe.

Seriously, someone at AG deserves a raise.
