Job count is still at nil. Joy.
But in other news, I finally read The Blind Mirror by Christopher Pike and... omigod. It's really, really good. We're not talking great literature, but rather some good reading. *whistles* I'll try to avoid major spoilers because I'm too lazy to do the lj-cut thing, but read with caution.
The demonic otherwordly aspect doesn't really come into play, so if you read, try not to wait for it. Instead you get some twisted science that then turns.. nastier. The book also makes it impossible to not mentally review the YA books he's written as they seem to pop up in various forms.
There's a story within the story which brings to mind the Last Vampire series as well as Season of Passage [read it. Then see if you can think about Mars in the same way] because it's tied into the main plot. Good things considering those are some of his best novels. Then there's a smidge of Spellbound, which if you've read the book, you'll be able to figure out what the hell I'm talking about.
Other things pop up, but I don't have my list, so I can't bore you senseless with them. Anywho, the book's about this guy, David, who jets back from New York City after two months of trying to drum up jobs. When he returns home, he goes out to the beach to clear his mind. He runs into an old friend and finds the body of a woman dumped in the exact spot he and his ex had sex right before he left for NY. Coinky dink? Of course not. And thus the drama begins.
Now I'm speeding right through the China Bayles [yeah, I thought that too] mysteries. So far I've figured out two of the killers before China, and one I don't think I had a hope of figuring out. :p So far I'm clueless on this book too, but since I'm barely halfway through, I've cut myself some slack.
*thinks* I also seem to have plans for the next two holidays. Halloween shall be spent taking my nephew trick-or-treating. Must charge the batteries for the camera for that. Thanksgiving I've been invited to spend the evening partaking of Ari's cooking. Here's hoping that'll be as fun as it sounds like it could be.
