SVH and other book type things
Apr. 22nd, 2006 09:29 amI think I stepped on something yesterday. Possibly a cat whisker or dog hair. It's lovely how either of those can feel like fire when you step on them the wrong way. Meh.

You may [still] be the nicest person ever, but you are no longer allowed to buy Pullips as you just debox and sell them two days later. That sucks. Which, unfortunately, means you also suck, since you do it so frickin' often. That is all.
Book related news, I finished the last of the BIFN books. Naturally I read them totally out of order, as it's pretty much impossible for me to do otherwise. To be fair, I think I picked the first [which was actually the latest] up on a whim and then hunted the others down, reading them as I found them. So the big shocking secret at the end of Silver is for Secrets was lost on me since the one after that deals with the aftermath. Whoops. Still, addictive. So much so that I keep expecting Party Girl, the book I'm reading now, to read the same way. Obviously it won't since they're by different authors and dealing with entirely different material. Anyway. BIFN, good stuff. I want mooooooore.
In moooooore thoughts, I finally caved and watched SVH in its entirety this week. The first half of disc one made me cringe just as much as I thought it would. More, considering my mother decided to watch as well. I know my SVH book love is probably a bit misplaced as re-reading some of them can actually hurt if you think too much, but there's something charming about the level of crap you come across. Perhaps charming in that for as flirty as Jess and company are, she's always drawn the line at sleeping with a guy and you don't have this overly made up version giving you the scary over-plucked eye half the time? Mmm, maybe.
Anyway, after the Halloween episode, which any idiot could figure I'd like since I love Halloween, things got better. Either I got used to the cheese, or they figured out what combination of camp and seriousness to use, or maybe there was a third option. Whatever it was, my brain shut up for the most part and I snickered myself into oblivion. Until they introduced Nick Marrow. Without Regina [the hell?] and lacking in the cuteness department. Dude, Winston is not supposed to be more drool worthy than anyone Jess is interested in. It's not allowed to happen. So naturally I wonder how the second season went, but guess what's still not out on DVD? Bother.
I need to go shower and read some more of my book.
