impy: tori from jackie's strength video (read)
Thanks to the reminder from the fantastically twisted [livejournal.com profile] saintsavin I signed up again for NaNo. Still have to find that blue notebook with that smidge of the story I plan on working on this year. Should do that soon so I don't forget.

The cat is bugging me. She wants looooooooooove. But her version of love mostly consists of crippling me.

Hours later. I feel craptacular. I don't know if it's the limited sleep, or what, but ugh. Also, my mouth feels like something died there. No amount of toothpaste seems to be working. We'll try alcohol next. Because that'll fix it. :P Except, y'know, it did that time I damn near chomped my tongue off...

Hmm. Popcorn seems to have fixed this problem. Sadly, our microwave is too small to cook a bag of popcorn so, um, half didn't pop [and that's more than the usual half that didn't] and a quarter of what did pop is burned. Luckily, I can handle that ratio of burned popcorn. Yummers.

*tired*

There are certain people who can mock your political choices without you wanting to strangle them immediately. These people have their own shows on Comedy Central. Everyone else should really proceed with caution. And yet there's always some jackass who thinks that needling their mother-in-law on politics is a fantastic idea. That jackass would be Cassy's husband. I still remember the look of utter horror that crossed her mother's face when I said I thought my parents were Republicans. For a second I thought she might just stop the car and shove me out the trick door.
Of course, my political views, when they do exist, don't really reflect my parents or their influence in terms of politics. Mumsy will occasionally chatter about something, and I'll chatter back, or maybe just listen and process. This year I've taken to actively chattering back and pretty much pointing out that since she's not exactly enamored of the idea that Palin will kill McCain and get supreme power to be supremely painful, she should vote for The Other Guy. Blank stare. So I rattle off my list of reasons why I would very much like her to vote for The Other Guy. I'm not sure if it'll make a difference, and in fact, given the way things are*, it won't, but at least I can say I tried. And if nothing else, I might have swayed anyone she might talk to. On the other side of things, I might have accidentally convinced her I'm gay. if it gets her to spread the word of No Crazy, then it'll all work out in the end.
So yes, my political views were probably molded more from Julia Sugarbaker than my mother. Later when I learned that dear ol' Dixie couldn't have been more different if she'd tried, a little part of me cried.

*- Have you looked SC up on a map lately ever? Even if no one votes for McCain, and they will, we'll still go down as having welcomed him with open arms. Oi.
This concludes my vague political musings for the time being.

Pictures!

So. I waffle on my AG love depending on that time of year, the position of the moon and stars, and how often they randomly send me a catalog. Whenever Mattel took over, they decided to stop sending them at regular intervals, and I can't say I blame them as I'll go years without buying anything, and the only time I ever went slightly crazy in terms of buying was when I bought my Girl of Today, her bed, and assorted outfits, and even that had problems. This is not the time for that story, however.
Anyway, when Cass presented her roadtrip idea, I was all set to tell her the same thing I always tell them. "No." Particularly with her leading with her Cabbage Patch idea. But then she said Atlanta [I was still saying no] and the AG store. To which I had to reconsider. Realistically, I have very little desire to return to NYC to hit their store, and Chicago will forever be tainted by that news story I read about the family who went to the store only to come home on the wrong train and it was this horribly gruesome account of the aftermath, and yet all I could think was, "Dude, what a way to ruin your kid's trip to the AG store. That place must be jinxed." And I've no desire to hit the LA store. Just... no.
Obviously, I went on the trip. This... is that story. Muhahaha!
Not Dial-up Friendly, even though I am dialup. Whee! )

That's just the AG section. Other pictures to come as I get less twitchy.
